Myfest 2015, A Year of Endless Celebrations

Am I living the life that I want? I asked myself this question countlessly these few months back, and I’m glad to say that so far, I am living the life that I really want. I make a point to ask myself this question every end of month. I evaluate myself, and I’m glad to report that yes…so far I am living the life that I want.

Let me tell you something. A year ago, I was the timid mouse who only stayed home and resent the fact that I’m all locked up at home. I was miserable. A year ago, I foolishly put a limitation on myself, but somehow, by God’s will, I opened a Pandora box and realized that I only live once. And I was not living the life that I want. I was a living corpse and was treated as such. I want no more of that. The ‘Pandora Box’ incident was a turning point for me and I started to change and live for myself.

I started to get out of my comfort zone…and to see the world, literally. Okay. Maybe that is a bit exaggerating. Maybe not the world, but my country. I started traveling, started to actively attending events, and it makes me feel so good.

I like what I see in the mirror now. It reflect a much happier, and hopefully, a more beautiful me.

2014 have been an eventful year for me. I did plenty of things that is worth remembering. I did things that I thought I wouldn’t be doing.

I joined countless media trips sponsored by Tourism Malaysia and Resort World Genting, went on solo trips with my son and actually survived it, start up my own small business and made some sales here and there, dined with ambassador of Russia, gotten myself a long term engagement with a cosmetic company, ditched son with parents and went on a honeymoon with husband in Thailand, compete in a cooking competition and actually gotten myself a consolation prize for it, participated in writing contests and won big prizes for it, danced Poco Poco in public with friends during a corporate cocktail party and the most recent one, gettingย  sponsored by a contact lenses company for one year.

Yes indeed. It has been an eventful year. Visit Malaysia 2014 has been wonderful, and I have no doubt that next year would be fabulous too.

Visit Malaysia 2014 haven’t ended yet, but I am already looking forward to MyFest2015, the Year of Endless Celebration. Here’s sharing with you the MyFest2015 theme song. Click the YouTube vid above to listen.

I know it is going to be great. In fact, I have been given a glimpse of it last week at the Swiss Garden Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia is blessed with various cultures, so this campaign seeks to showcase and celebrate Malaysia’s cultural diversity and festivities as a tourist attraction. The promotion of various local festivities and cultural elements will be boosted as tourism offerings in the MyFest 2015 campaign. With all that, and the theme: “Endless Celebrations”, next year promises and abundance of excitement with interesting events and festivities planned, such as the year-long Skyride Festival, cultural themed events, family fun events , eco-tourism events, arts, music showcases, food promotions, shopping festivities and so much more!

Gosh…I can’t wait to be a part of it. Here’s sharing with all of you a little prologue to a wonderful adventure ahead. Picture credit to my friend Miera.

Cultural festivals; we’ll all be able to participate in cultural and tribal festivals. The Mah Meri tribe is one of the tribes that will be featured next year.
They are of the Senoi subgroup. Most of the members of the Mah Meri tribe live along the coast of South Selangor from Sungei Pelek up to Pulau Carey, although there is at least one Mah Meri Community on the other side of the Klang River.

And what’s Malaysia without it’s artistic charms? Batik painting is part of the things you can sign up for next year…

And also making crafts through weaving.

These are just a fraction of what Malaysia have to offer in 2015. ๐Ÿ™‚
Just keep a lookout for all the activities, ya?

 photo IMG_20141021_162522_zpspfsztqhp.jpg
It’s going to be an interesting year indeed. ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to be a part of it.
In the meantime, I’m going to just take the Hop On&Off Bus and play tourist in KL, the place I now call home. ๐Ÿ™‚

Behind The Scene Tour- See, Do& Eat Interactive Workshop

We were famished but there was no refreshment provided during the Genting Behind The Scene Tour. But lucky for us, there is See, Do&Eat Interactive Workshop in our itinerary where we get to make our own food and eat em. ๐Ÿ˜‰

 photo IMG_20140920_162019_zpsvvh1ig3p.jpg

First, there’s a cupcake decorating session where the chef gave us a demo on how to decorate cupcakes by using cream, chocolates and fruits.

 photo IMG_20140920_162249_zpsbyuz4fu1.jpg

Here’s the members of the media, social media influencers and kids bloggers decorating our own cupcakes.

 photo IMG_20140920_163022_zpsohhnejzv.jpg

Here’s the cupcake that I decorated. ๐Ÿ™‚

 photo IMG_20140920_163000_zpsxzo5ouli.jpg

And this is what my son made. Yours truly thinks the boy is much more talented in the art of cake deco than her. :p Pretty neat, huh? ๐Ÿ™‚

 photo IMG-20140928-WA0020_zpspqybffvk.jpg

There was a sushi demo too. Here’s a pic of the kids and adults alike making their own sushi. ๐Ÿ™‚ Picture credit to Cutiemonkee and my blogger friend Miera.

 photo IMG_20140920_165032_zps0hnldxc_edit_1411920432812_zpsofglenk5.jpg

I did not make any sushi, but my husband did. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s his before it was done. This one’s for sushi rolls. The ingredients was nori sheet, vinegered Japanese rice, pickled radish slices, cucumber slices, crab sticks, tamago, tuna flakes and creamy Japanese mayonnaise.

 photo IMG_20140920_165641_zpsqoobhnh5.jpg

Here’s the final products. The sushi rolls looks delicious, no? It was delicious, I assure you. And my husband even made me an additional thing;a California Roll when I told him I wanted one. Not too shabby for a person who doesn’t really cook, I must say.

Naturally, the ‘See, Do&Eat Interactive Workshop‘ is my favourite part of the tour. :p Yes, I’m a glutton at heart, but that’s not a bad thing. I appreciate food and small details in life and these stuff happens to be one of it, and I’m sure you would appreciate it too.

Behind The Scene Tour- First World Laundry Room

Unlike the visit to Genting International showroom, our visit to the First World Laundry division was nothing glamorous or funky, but it was educational nevertheless, as while yours truly knows how important and cleanliness in the line of hotel and hospitality, I had no clue how the hotel actually keep things clean and hygienic, especially the bedsheets, duvet etc.

 photo IMG_20140920_154954_zpswxgmeaws.jpg

An overview on housekeeping and laundry division.

 photo PhotoGrid_1411899299158_zpswdbkxdle.jpg

No. First World Hotel does not keep elves who helped them to do the laundry nor do they have fairy godmothers who clean up everything with just a wave of a wand. There was no magic involved. Just systematic system, high-tech machines and pure hardwork to keep things clean. We were shown an A-Z process of laundry in First World Hotel, from collection of dirty linens to washing, drying up, pressing and distributing it back to hotel rooms for your usage. Everything was done using giant machines and the divisions looks more like a mini factory rather than a laundry room.

 photo IMG_20140920_160545_zpsqzedxxsa.jpg

These are clothes sent by the patrons of First World Hotel for dry cleaning and is now ready to be delivered back to the respective owners. Both wet and dry cleaning service is available upon request for those who are staying in First World Hotel.

The visit is indeed educational, and I believe, through this visit, you not only can learn how hotels manages their laundry but teaches you how to appreciate the unsung heroes who made your stay in hotels comfortable too.

Behind The Scene Tour-Genting International Showroom.

The last time I was at Genting International Showroom was November 2013. My family and I were invited to experience Fantastica! 2 and Stars on String in Genting Resort World back then. It was indeed one of my most memorable trip as my husband ended up on the stage, dancing ballet with Fantastica! 2 performers in front of hundreds of audience, complete with a tutu. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I believe, many of us who joined that trip back then still remembers his ballet performance. :p

 photo IMG_20140920_150918_zpsmvpgsr7t.jpg

My rather introverted husband breathes in relief this time around though. We were not there to make an impromptu performance but to find out how things works behind the stage during concerts or shows in Genting International Showroom.

 photo IMG_20140920_150521_zpstkkrjgcv.jpg

Here’s one of the sound and lighting crew member, briefing us on the stage sound and lighting.

Here’s one for the album, the kid bloggers dancing and having their 5 minutes fame on stage in Genting International Showroom, complete with lighting and music before proceeding to our next stop; the educational visit to First World Hotel Laundry division.

This behind the scene tour is pretty much insightful and I learned that behind every successful show or concert in Genting, there is a whole crew behind of it to make it successful and yes…credits should be given to the backstage crews too. Bravo and kudos for making world class entertainment possible.

Behind The Scene Tour- History of Genting

After having a blast in the Ice Age Adventure and a fill in the Coffee Terrace we Proceed to Behind The Scene Tour where there will be 4 stops, which is; The Visitor’s Galleria, The Genting International Showroom, First World Hotel Laundry and See, Do& Eat Workshop. I will be writing about all of these stops individually as each and every one of it is pretty educational and interesting.

Our first stop was the Visitor’s Galleria. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a tour guide who will lead us throughout the tour and were given a goodie bag containing a bottle of mineral water and a set of Genting Resort World stationary set, which will be pretty useful if you are a student or a member of the media who joined this tour as you will need to jot down some notes if you are to really write a good article about the Behind the Scene Tour.

The tour is mainly aimed to educate the public on how things works behind the scene in Resort World Genting, but our first stop in the Visitor’s Galleria, is pretty much a tribute to the founder of Genting Resort World, the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong.

 photo IMG_20140920_141452_zpsdecktado.jpg

In the Visitor’s Galleria we were briefed about the life of the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong and his ultimate masterpiece; Genting Resort World. The story is very extensive but to cut the long story short, the late Tan Sri hailed from China and migrated to Malaya,( now Malaysia) and works as a carpenter before starting to delve into the world of constructions.

 photo IMG_20140920_141807_zps9dx7lqxp.jpg

Hall of fame- the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong’s achievements is all on display here, ranging from trophies to momentous from VIPs from all over the world.

 photo IMG_20140920_141734_zpszqyovmb4.jpg

The members of the media were also given an overview of the entire Genting and their future plans, the first Fox World theme park in the world, which is currently in progress and expected to be completely done and open to public by the end of 2016.

This tour may be boring to some and small children may find it a bit mind boggling, but to aspiring adults who wants to be a self-make billionaire, the story of how the late Tan Sri Lim Go Tong is nothing but pure inspiration.

Our next stop is the Genting International Showroom, where the visitors will be given a glimpse on how things works behind the scene of all those world class show and concert in the showroom.

Wait up for my next post, yea. ๐Ÿ™‚

What Time Does Not Erased: Love for Each Other

 photo threeofus_zpscd27b60d.jpg

(Pic of our feet, taken back in 2013, during Banghuris Homestay Trip with Sahabat Media)

Here’s sharing a little something with all of you out there. I know I have been writing about travel alot lately, and haven’t been really doing any writing that really comes from the depth of my heart. So here goes. ๐Ÿ™‚ A little encounter that melted my heart today. It’s 16th September 2014. A Public holiday in Malaysia in conjunction of Malaysia Day. Since it is a public holiday, my husband does not have to go to work, and spent his time with me and son at home. Nothing much to tell there, nothing interesting. Just a restful and peaceful day at home where we took a good rest, sleeping together whole day to heal the fatigue bodies.

Come evening when everyone is fully rested, we decided that it is time to get a a haircut as both husband and son’s hair is growing way too long to look presentable or neat. So we made a little trip to the barber.

Theย  trip to the barber to get a haircut for both hubby and son made me a happier person. Why? Cuz while we were at the barber, we met an old family doctor who saw me and hubby through our very naughty college years, pregnancy and the birth of our son. It’s almost a decade since we met this doctor and what he said during the short encounter melted my heart. When he saw our son while the barber was cutting his hair, he said WOW three times, saying how the boy has grown.

The doctor told me that my son looks exactly like my husband; an exact carbon copy, and was practically amazed how tall the boy is now as the last time he saw the boy, he was just a screaming, tiny baby no taller than the length of his arms. He told me we have done a great job against all odds in raising the boy and I should consider planning for a second child in which I sheepishly replied…perhaps, one day if God wills it. The good doc also told me that I did not change much, still petite and looks like a college girl and it feels like yesterday he gave me mc to skip classes. Gosh, he still remembers I used to pretend to be sick to skip lectures. ๐Ÿ˜› I can’t believe that he still remembers!

This encounter is really heartwarming. It reminds me of love, and sacrifices both my husband and I have done for our little family. The short meeting with the doctor reminds me how my husband took care of both of us singlehandedly from the day our son is born, from taking care of me during confinement to bathing our then newborn son to changing diapers to making milk when I was too exhausted to breastfeed.

Thank you God, for sending me gentle reminders like this whenever I may have forgotten. It was definitely a knock on my head. I was really lucky and privileged to have my husband by my side, taking care of me then. How many husbands out there willing to do so for their wives, I wonder? Most husbands these days would just dump their wives to confinement centres or send them over to their parents to be taken care of throughout the confinement period. Instead of that, he took care both of us, and should we have another child together, I would certainly hope to have a repeated experience.

Time may have change both of us. Circumstances are different now, but deep down, there is something that not even time or anyone else could alter, which is the enduring love that we have for each other. Against all odds, against everything that we both have been put through, we still endure and still love each other, and that, is what mattered most, in my humble opinion. The enduring love.

This encounter is healing to say the least, and I may not say it often, may not show it openly, even. I may be wordy, write lengthy posts and articles, but to be honest, I’m not really expressive when it comes to showing my affection. I’m terrible at that. I feel sorry for my husband sometimes for that. But I believe in saying things I really meant and only during desperate times will I say ‘I love you’ but I do love both my son and husband very much, and I hope both my husband, and my son do know that I love them more than anything else in the world, somehow. Perhaps, from now on, I should be more affectionate to both of them. They are, after all, the loves of my life, given by God to me.

Cleffairy: What God has put together, let no one put asunder. Thank you for sending me reminders. I am indeed blessed.

Remember I posted about Authentic Peranakan Food at Melaka Nyonya Village? Well, there’s more than just delicious food there in Melaka Nyonya Village. There was cultural performance too that night when we dined there. Here’s sharing a video of a traditional dance performed that night.

Apart from the dance, we Sahabat Media enjoyed some Baba Nyonya fashion show too.

We were shown what young and elder Nyonyas usually wear, the Baba’s outfits, as well as a narration of a mock Baba and Nyonya mock wedding. It was very interesting, I assure you, and if you’d like to experience great food and get a glimpse of the Peranakan culture, you may consider hopping over to Melaka Nyonya Village.

But do take note. Melaka Nyonya Village does not have JAKIM halal cert, but it is PORK FREE and it was promised that their dishes does not contain MSG.
