BERSIH 2.0 Demands

I chatted with a friend earlier today, and I was not very pleased when he condemned those people who joined BERSIH 2.0 rally a couple of months back. He said, they’re just creating havoc in the country and going against the ruling government and wants the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong’s sovereignty to be stripped off.

To be fair, I am quite certain that some of those who joined the rally back then joined the rally for the sake of joining, and doesn’t really know what they’re rallying for. Some are not even voters, even. How many of them are under-aged? And how many of them are actual voters?

There must be some truth in the claim that some people do not exactly know what they’re fighting for, cuz if you grab some of those people who joined the rally back then and ask them what they are fighting for, some of them may not be able to tell you why.

But I am aware that the idea of the rally itself was definitely not to create havoc or chaos in the country. BERSIH 2.0 is a peaceful demonstration turned awry with many political parties getting involved.

Did you know what BERSIH 2.0 was really all about? It’s a demonstration to fight for clean and fair election. These are their demands:

1. Clean the electoral roll

The electoral roll is marred with irregularities such as deceased persons and multiple persons registered under a single address or non-existent addresses. The electoral roll must be revised and updated to wipe out these ‘phantom voters’. The rakyat have a right to an electoral roll that is an accurate reflection of the voting population.

In the longer term, BERSIH 2.0 also calls for the EC to implement an automated voter registration system upon eligibility to reduce irregularities.

2. Reform postal ballot

The current postal ballot system must be reformed to ensure that all citizens of Malaysia are able to exercise their right to vote. Postal ballot should not only be open for all Malaysian citizens living abroad, but also for those within the country who cannot be physically present in their voting constituency on polling day. Police, military and civil servants too must vote normally like other voters if not on duty on polling day.

The postal ballot system must be transparent. Party agents should be allowed to monitor the entire process of postal voting.

3. Use of indelible ink

Indelible ink must be used in all elections. It is a simple, affordable and effective solution in preventing voter fraud. In 2007, the EC decided to implement the use of indelible ink. However, in the final days leading up to the 12th General Elections, the EC decided to withdraw the use of indelible ink citing legal reasons and rumours of sabotage.

BERSIH 2.0 demands for indelible ink to be used for all the upcoming elections. Failure to do so will lead to the inevitable conclusion that there is an intention to allow voter fraud.

4. Minimum 21 days campaign period

The EC should stipulate a campaign period of not less than 21 days. A longer campaign period would allow voters more time to gather information and deliberate on their choices. It will also allow candidates more time to disseminate information to rural areas. The first national elections in 1955 under the British Colonial Government had a campaign period of 42 days but the campaign period for 12th GE in 2008 was a mere 8 days.

5. Free and fair access to media

It is no secret that the Malaysian mainstream media fails to practice proportionate, fair and objective reporting for political parties of all divide. BERSIH 2.0 calls on the EC to press for all media agencies, especially state-funded media agencies such as Radio and Television Malaysia (RTM) and Bernama to allocate proportionate and objective coverage for all potlical parties.

6. Strengthen public institutions

Public institutions must act independently and impartially in upholding the rule of law and democracy. Public institutions such as the Judiciary, Attorney-General, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC), Police and the EC must be reformed to act independently, uphold laws and protect human rights.

In particular, the EC must perform its constitutional duty to act independently and impartially so as to enjoy public confidence. The EC cannot continue to claim that they have no power to act, as the law provides for sufficient powers to institute a credible electoral system.

7. Stop corruption

Corruption is a disease that has infected every aspect of Malaysian life. BERSIH 2.0 and the rakyat demand for an end to all forms of corruption. Current efforts to eradicate corruption are mere tokens to appease public grouses. We demand that serious action is taken against ALL allegations of corruption, including vote buying.

8. Stop dirty politics

Malaysians are tired of dirty politics that has been the main feature of the Malaysian political arena. We demand for all political parties and politicians to put an end to gutter politics. As citizens and voters, we are not interested in gutter politics; we are interested in policies that affect the nation.

So… those who are counter rallying and going against this idea and using force to stop people from demanding a fair election…is that to say that they do not want clean and fair election and will do whatever in their power to remain in power so that they can continue to be unscrupulous and corrupt?
Cleffairy: I am a voter. I don’t want my vote to be manipulated. I also do not want anybody using my identity to vote. Are you a voter? Do you want your vote to be manipulated? And do you like the idea of something having a hold of your identity?

Of heroes and villains

To have heroes, we need to have villains so that the heroes can look saintly and angelic in the eyes of public. Unfortunately for us all, some heroes created villains so that they can look heroic.

When it comes to history, how does one determine the real heroes and the real villain? And how does one determine if the villains that have been portrayed in the history books are genuine and not made believe figure or something that has been cooked up by ‘heroes’ to make themselves look good in the eyes of the world?

It is a sad thing isn’t it? One can’t possibly really tell the two apart. There is always two sides of the same story. And like history, same thing happens in life. You can’t always determine who is the good guy and who is the bad guy. There is always a predator in lamb’s clothing, and one must be careful not to be easily swayed and manipulated.

Here’s a rhetoric question from me. As of late, some people and ‘historians’ from certain political claimed that Malaya was never colonized by British. If so why did we still need to ask for independence from British back then? If that’s the case, why are we celebrating 31st August every year as our independence day?

Cleffairy: I wonder how far the undeserving heroes would go to convince the world that they are a true hero? And I wonder how far these people would go to take revenge on people who refused to believe in their claims and punish people who have absolutely different opinions about them?

Laying low…

I feel sick… and tired of the things that’s going around in my country lately. I mean, there’s so much bad news, and so much anger among my people right now in Malaysia.

I suppose some of my readers are wondering why I choose to zip up my mouth regarding the BERSIH issue despite the fact that I strongly support the freedom of expression and despite the fact that I am a voter and there’s nothing that I desire more than a clean and transparency in the coming General Election. For those who don’t know what BERSIH is… it’s a movement that supports clean and fair election-which is declared illegal by the current Malaysian ruling government *ooopsss, dictatorship much?*. ‘BERSIH’ is a word derived from Malaysian language, bearing the definition ‘clean’.

Well, this is why I’m laying low: I refuse to be a marionette on a string by feeling upset over issues that I do not intend to participate due to safety reason. What benefit do I get by getting all emotional about it? I feel that if I do not intend to participate in the rally to express myself, then I better keep my goddamn mouth shut and I shall do my part when the election comes: by voting, by exercising my rights as a voter.

I know a lot of people are expressing their frustrations over various social media websites and whatnot, but you know something? That is something coward-ish to me. True patriots won’t just talk and vent. They would do something much more than just vent around. They would do something that comes out with an actual result.

For those who are making so much goddamn noise over various social media… I won’t suggest you to stop, but I do hope that when the parliament has been dissolved and the times comes for you to vote, you’ll go and vote instead of merely making annoying noise. One vote could make a difference. If you do not like the current ruling government, then the General Election is the time for you to choose a better leader for a better Malaysia.

Cleffairy: Do you not know that empty cans makes most noise? And did you know that there are various ways to exercise your freedom of expression than merely venting your frustrations over social media countless times?

Let’s make love…

Now, please get your head out of the gutter. What I really want to say is let’s make love, not war. I know it’s really hard… especially with the corrupt people out there with loads of sinister plan to keep and every one of us apart…to keep us from being united…to execute the age old military ‘divide and conquer’ in a more modern and subtle way so that they could benefit from our emotional sentiments.

I really couldn’t understand… why people hate one one another, just because they speak different language and have different skin colour? God loves variety, that is why he ‘paint’ us differently. Imagine everyone looking the same, sounding the same, now that would be not only disgustingly horrific, but would would be such a bore, wouldn’t it?

Anyway… I’m kinda sick with the bloody 1Malaysia campaign, especially when even with the bloody campaign being shouted around, things still remain the same, and there are still people who hate one another because of each other’s difference.

I don’t understand why our Prime Minister is concentrating on shouting about unity… keep reminding us to be united when we could have a better way of being united… which is working towards the same goal and achieve excellence. Okay… I admit… perhaps my mind is still living in Tun Dr. M’s era… but back then… I feel that whole Malaysia have a purpose…have a reason… to work together, that is why back then, racial sentiments are not exactly the things you heard in schools and whatnot. Back then, we got no time to think about how different we are, because the former Prime Minister keep urging us to advance, move forward, and be competitive. I think that was healthier for the nation. We were much more motivated than now. There’s issues, yes, but having principals screaming racial stuff in school assemblies is unheard off back then.

In my humble opinion… constantly telling people to be united is just reminding people how different we are, and through that, we’re reminding ourself that we’re not exactly equal. Maybe the current PM does not think this way and he means well with his slogan, but sometimes, the effect of his campaign is just the same as reverse psychology…what a misfortune.

Instead of that keep reminding people that they are different and reminding them to be united, why can’t we just forget the whole bloody thing, and continue to work and make our country better in terms of technology, education and economy?

Working together towards the same goal is better than keep reminding people that they are different and keep telling them to be united, because once we have a goal to achieve…once we’re motivated to move forward, we’d be automatically united to work and achieve something to make our country stand up in the eyes of the world again.

Come on… *sigh* let’s make love, not war. Let’s work and achieve something instead of just wallowing on how different we look and how strange we all sound to each other.  Do our part in nation building. We got better things to do than waste time in reminding each other that we’re different and constantly reminding ourselves that we’re different. That’s not news. What’s news is that we still have a lot to learn, and time does not wait for us… and so does the rest of the world.

Cleffairy: You know what’s the REAL problem with Malaysian? The real problem is we’re too free…we got too much time on hand, that is why we have nothing better to do in our free time and we irk each other to pass time! Do you agree to disagree with me? Feel free to jot your thoughts.

ps: Does anyone have a Punjabi or an Indian girl to intro to my 5 year old Chinese son? You know… I think we can work something out…let the kids gets to know each other and learn to love one another. Who knows? We’d be family one day. I bet the grandchildren will look really pretty! I’d really like to have an excuse to celebrate Deepavali! Ohh, yummylicious food and pretty saree and henna! LOLOL!

Ventriloquist and the string puppet

As of late… there’s a lot of racial issue in Bolehland. I will refrain from commenting too much… but my hyperactive brain couldn’t help but conjure up a theory…. a theory where it’s a lot like physic’s law of inertia and momentum… where an object would be in a state of in-animation unless it’s being disturbed by an outside force.

There are so many so… being daring to discriminate openly and do things that’s deemed religiously and racially sensitive…so very daring that I wonder, if they are being compensated for that, considering that they are living in the place where they knew how others valued unity and indiscrimination so much, and what is at stake when they speak of those words so publicly and openly. They knew the consequences. So why?

A thought, indeed… are they… somebody’s string puppets? I could only come to such conclusion. I don’t understand why… after so long living in a harmonious country such as this… some people still do not know how to respect others and accept people as they are.

My only logic is that… they were either paid for their words, or coerced into doing this to provoke mass hatred, so that some ventriloquist could benefit from it in many ways… I’m quite skeptical that they are doing these things that could harm their career and whatnot at their own accord, without having some support from an unknown force.

Cleffairy: Ridiculous? Maybe… maybe not. Something is not right with the pictures. The occurrence of things… are pretty much simultaneous that it’s laughable! Coincidence, as Einstein would say, is never an accident.

Is to be Malaysian

Malaysia is a very unique place. And so are their people. I’ll tell you why:

1. This is a country where the innocents are declared guilty until they’re proven innocent.

2. Not many of their politicians are straight.

3. You can sleep on the job and never get sack as long as you’re in a high position.

4. Petrol price can be raised within a few moments notice.

5. Malaysians are very visual kind of people. Bimbos are treated like goddess, and many prefer beauties rather than brains. So yeah… big boobs and pretty face are the in things.

6. Intellectual conversation are usually limited to tea/mamak-ing session. However, most of the people who spoke intelligently are members of NATO. Anyway, that’s good enough. Most Malaysians don’t like to think and prefers to live in denial and have this ‘wait and see’ attitude.

7. Typical Malaysians are usually forgetful. If you’ve done something bad and wanted people to forget about your dirty deeds, all you need to do is just sue, sue and sue. People will start to loose interest in your sins and looks for something else to talk about.

8. Office politics aplenty. You wanna get a raise? Raise up your skirt and unbutton your shirt a lil bit. You ought to be in luck.

9. The parliament is a dwelling of rude, obnoxious people who hurl insult each other and pat their buttocks, and yet, they expect the brats in school to behave.

10. The mainstream newspaper is as good as tabloid. Who needs to pay for porn and gossip mags when there’s Malaysian newspaper?

11. There’s the Malaysia Boleh attitude. Malaysian can do a lot of amazing thing… largest blogger gathering, biggest roti canai, sail around the world…but they can never stay in the office past 5.01pm without incentives. Malaysia Boleh? Yes, Boleh Blah!

12. Mamak and kopitiam is their best friend.

13. There’s many wannabes in Malaysia. The most apparent ones are Westerners wannabes. They dye their hair blond, bleach their skin, and God knows what else. *sigh* Is this what they call the belacan who dreams to be cheese? LOL…

14. A lot of things can be settled through coffees…. or teas… or Starbucks.

15. Most of the people in Malaysia lives to eat, not eat to live.

16. Not many respect the national anthem. Play the national anthem, and you can see most will yak away, though they’re in a place where they can stand in attention. And not many know what the heck is Federal Constitution and all it’s frameworks.

17. The people are full of contradiction. They claim that God is Supreme… and yet…well, you get the picture. Not many are humbled with this fact, and people are still classified through their skin colours.

18. You can actually get sued for enjoying sex. There is no such thing as privacy.

19. Good people are often misunderstood, and the bad ones are usually hailed.

20. Most appear to be polite and gentle. But they are malicious while driving and have extremely impressive vocabs when they’re on the road.

21. Many claimed to be patriotic, but during football season, most would yell ‘Man U!’, ‘Chelsea’, ‘Liverpool!’ and God knows what else.

22. As long as you know how to make ‘roti canai’, you can do business anywhere.

23. Nasi lemak can be eaten all day long.

24. There’s always freedom of speech. But there’s no freedom after speech.

25. ISPs are like God…they can treat us rotten and provide shitty Internet connection, and yet we’ll still be devoted to them regardless.

26. Double standards is everywhere. Teachers are allowed to reveal about their sex life in public, and yet the students are expected to abstain themselves from sex and pornography.

27. Parents are expected to forgive the police if their kids were accidentally shot by mistake.

28. Wild animals are not only confined to zoos…

29. Politicians are at the humblest and the sweetest during elections.

30. Malaysians tend to try to translate every single thing into their language. Oh, help me God!

And last but not least

It’s this…

Malaysians needs to apply license to sell rice, sugar and many other foodstuff.

Cleffairy: Is to be… Malaysian… this laaaannnddd…. so beautiffffffuuulll~

Take back our country from right-wing tabloids

I attended an event last Sunday in conjunction of the Press Freedom Day, but I took no pictures because it was a forum/discussion for practicing and non-practicing journalists, and I was too engrossed ith the discussion to even snap any pictures. 😀 This is a rather outdated post, but please, allow me to share this with you:

The right-wing press, especially mainstream newspapers, are spreading lies, hate and thinly veiled racism to make people angry at their chosen scapegoats.

They…

  • Create mass hysteria about child abuse then claim children are allowed to run wild because teachers and parents aren’t allowed to control them – because they’d be accused of child abuse.
  • Misrepresent statistics to have the public under the illusion that everything is all right. Eg: Oil price, economical development.
  • Lie about political refugee and immigrants to stoke racial tensions that they claim immigration causes.
  • Use emotive language to spin articles to their agenda and write about alleged crimes as if they are guilty until proven innocent.
  • Use emotive language to stoke racial tension.
  • Claim to be environmental but side with big business that undermines the Mother Nature.
  • Being politically biased, and reported lies instead of truth, just because they’re under pressure.
  • Etcetera.

What could we do to make the public see this?

For years cigarette packets have come with health warnings, it’s about time some of the local mainstream newspaper came with similar warnings.

You can print these out onto A4 self-adhesive label sheets (available from your local stationers) to stick to the front of the newspaper in question and spread the word.

Sticker downloads

Cleffairy: The reason why I quit being a journalist is that I was forced to report lies. I worked in one of Malaysia favourite mainstream newspaper before, and yet, the newspaper body itself lacks quality and the editors were always under pressure from you-know-who. If I were to work for such newspaper, I’m better off working for a tabloid.

Why do people treat us like a bimbo?

Indeed, why? Why do people treat us like a bimbo? Well, women, friends and foes alike are going to bash me for this, but I still have to state my honest opinion on what I think about women, especially Malaysian women in general.

I know March is International Women’s Month, but I’m not going to preach about women’s rights and why people should respect women. I am more than sure, most of you know that, and a majority of you out there has done that on my behalf.

This entry is not meant to degrade women, but is written in hope that women all over the country would realize why sometimes people treat us women like a bimbo- a creature of the weaker sex who are incapable of intelligent conversation.

So, why indeed? Why do men treat us women like bimbos, and not many are interested in listening to what we have to say? My take is that in Malaysia, there is not much women who takes time to enrich their mind with intellectual material, and therefore, not many women came up with intelligent conversation. Not many women in Malaysia bothers to read about law or even bothers about our political surroundings. What’s worst, most don’t even bother to read news anymore ever since they left school.

Most would say that Malaysian politics is crappy, and not worth their regard, thinking that there is no point talking about things that they cannot change. True… but then again, you made no effort to be the person who change it.

Most would choose to shy away from economic discussion, as it’s a difficult topic to grasp. Some would say…talking about serious matters gives them headache, and they prefers to be blissfully ignorant, and instead of exhibiting themselves as someone worth to be respected, most prefer to portray themselves as an empty headed person, who usually talks about nothing but trivial matters and gossips concerning the affair of others.

It saddens me to think that many Malaysian women are not concern about the nation building issue. Most of us are still chained and shackled by our own mindset, where we should not concern ourselves with ‘difficult’ matters and we should do nothing but let the men handle those ‘difficult’ stuff for us, and our job is just to enjoy life while men go around, working to dominate the world. With thoughts like this, it is not a wonder that Malaysia is still very much a conservative and chauvinistic country.

I really do wonder why women in Malaysia are given the rights to vote in the first place. Most of you are voters. Those who would determine the future of our country by casting your vote, and yet you have not a care about Malaysian politics and whatnot. It disgust me.

It disgust me to the very core when I hear these from the mouth of women, especially from those who are blue collars :

“Aiyah… nonid to care about politics… Malaysian politics are very boring.”

“Haiyorr, simply vote lah, both oso same oni.”

“Why should I care about the law? Not for me lah!”

It terrifies me to note that Malaysia is made of these kind of people, who happens to be voters as well. Those who are responsible of voting and whatnot. Malaysia is full of empty headed women who will remain the same, and would do nothing to change that just because they are someone’s girlfriend, someone’s wife, or someone’s mother, and thinks that taking care of their male counterpart, nurturing their offspring as well as gossiping about others is much more fulfilling than enriching themselves with awareness and knowledge about the country and the world.

There’s nothing wrong about spoiling the spouse and nurturing the children, but don’t you think it is too much when such things could actually turn us into a dumb bimbo bitch when we decided to just live in our own little world, and chooses to be ignorant of serious matters?

Whether it is too much or not, it is up to you to decide. To me, it is too much, definitely too much. Knowledge, to me, is something that I must pursue throughout my entire life, not something that I must stop injecting into my brain once I left school.

People treat women like a bunch of dumb bimbo bitch, because most of us portrays ourselves that way. One rotten apple, spoils the whole barrel. Ladies, either stop thinking like a dumb bimbo bitch, or you’ll forever be branded that way. If you want people to respect you, then by all means, start respecting yourself instead of portraying yourself as the dumber sex, for God’s sake!

Cleffairy:Ladies…most of you maybe typical females who cannot read a map, but that should not stop you from learning how to use the GPS.

Oh, sodomize me, please, I beg you!!!

My  ‘foolish’ chic was actually begging me to sodomize it, but I wasn’t in the mood to stuff some ass today, because there’s so much ass fucking going on today. So, instead of stuffing the chicken’s ass, I decided to chop it to pieces and roast it with some potatoes.

The result?

Better than my famous sodomized negro chic. 😛 Thank goodness my chic didn’t explode or burnt this time. Can you believe it? It didn’t explode! Oh, my goodness, it’s a miracle that I didn’t burnt my chic!

I am very satisfied with the result. I guess practice makes perfect, no?All I need to do is don’t loose hope, and persevere. Thank you STP, for teaching me to persevere and never give up. You’re one of the best teacher in the world!

Anyway, precious readers… I’ve given a name to this chic…do you want to know what it’s name is? It’s name is Sai Fool Bu Kari! Nice name, eh? I just love yummylicious chic. Don’t you? I bet Pete is going to enjoy this entry.  And Manglish too.*grinZ* Sodomy IV in the making, my friends?

Cleffairy: Jokes aside. The moral of the story here is, ladies and gentlemen, just because the past is painful, doesn’t mean the future will be too. So never let the events from the past change the course of events in the future, or you shall be tormented and torn apart forever. And yes, that’s a quote from my latest novel. 😀
