Mr. Right There All Along

Title:Mr. Right There All Along

Publisher: Harlequin

Imprint: HarlequinRomance

Pub Date:2 August 2011

ISBN: 9780373177486

Author: Jackie Braun

‘Mr. Right There All Along’ is not a bad book, but it doesn’t really sit well with me because I love heroine who are strong and confident about themselves. The heroine in this book is nothing about that and she let her insecurities that have been rooted since high school rules her life.

The storyline is also very slow, and I did not appreciate the fact that not much seduction have been done on the hero’s part to get into her good books. I think the hero ought to be more proactive in his endeavor. He is not exactly the typical Harlequin hero.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Harlequin publisher via Netgalley. I was not required to give a positive review for this book.

Title: Cherished

Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Pub Date: 30th August 2011

ISBN: 9781595548559

‘Cherished’ is the second book by Kim Cash Tate that I’ve read. I had the privilege to review the ARC of her previous work, ‘Faithful’, and I thought her work was really inspiring and brought me closer to God.

I was hoping to read her work again, and I was really pleased when I saw her latest book, ‘Cherished’ is up for review.

I didn’t quite know what to expect from her latest work, but I have to say that like her previous work, this book is a wonderful masterpiece.

This book have a soul. Or at least, I feel it have a soul. I feel that the story is alive, and the people in it are real as the pain that the characters were dealing with are very close to home. Highly emotional, but not melodramatic. Kim Cash Tate has outdone herself in this amazing book.

This book gives me a spiritual satisfaction that not many book managed to give me, and I highly recommends this book to those who wants to enjoy reading fiction and feed their soul at the same time.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Thomas Nelson Publisher. I was not required to write a positive review for this book, and I was not compensated in any ways for writing this.

How can she believe God cherishes her when she can’t forgive herself?

Kelli London once dreamed of being a songwriter. As crazy as it seemed, she hoped that God would use the lyrics that came to her while she slept. She dreamed about Brian too, that the love they shared would be a forever kind of love. But choices she’ll forever regret upended her hope . . . and turned her dreams to dust. When those dreams come knocking once more, she’s forced to deal with the pain of the past.

Heather Anderson’s life has spun out of control—first, an affair with a married man, then a one-night stand with the drummer of a popular Christian band that left her devastated. Broken and alone, she cried out to the only One who can save her. And He did. But that’s just the beginning, because now she must leave behind the only life she’s ever known.

Two women with shame-filled pasts form an unlikely friendship. What does God’s forgiveness look like for them? Will they ever believe that He loves them . . . and can still offer them a life where they are cherished?

The Getaway Groom

Title: The Getaway Groom

Publisher: Harlequin

Imprint: HarlequinTreasury

Pub Date: 26 July 2011

ISBN: 9781459264090

Author: Molly Linholm

‘The Getaway Groom’ by Milly Linholm is full of irony, and I’m sorry to say that it does not really works well with me despite of the emotional roller-coaster ride that I usually enjoy. Somehow, I don’t sit too well with the idea of someone’s fiance doing hanky panky things with his fiance’s best friend… even if they were former lovers and still in love with her.

I did not like the storyline. This book is not for me even though the author justify the ending by giving every characters what their heart desire.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Harlequin via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book.

The Husband She Couldn’t Remember

Title: The Husband She Couldn’t Remember

Publisher: Harlequin

Imprint: HarlequinTreasury

Pub Date: 26 July 2011

ISBN: 9781459265561

Author: Maggie Shayne

‘The Husband She Couldn’t Remember’ by Maggie Shayne is quite an emotional read for me. I like how the author emphasize on family love in this story instead of just physical intimacies between the hero and the heroine.

The mystery that shrouded the heroine’s miraculously recovery from a terminal sickness is rather ridiculous to me, but I suppose it works. I love the mystery element in this story, and I like how the theme’ second chance at love’ is being played out in this story.

The only thing that I would want more in this story is more passion between the sheets.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Harlequin via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book, and I was not compensated in any ways for this.

‘Man Law’ is quite a witty, tongue in cheek kind of book despite the fact that it’s an adult fiction. I love how the author plays with the irony of life and turn it into character’s relationship dynamics.

This book is intensely thrilling and very enjoyable. I highly recommends this book to those who loves romance, suspense and emotional roller coaster ride in one book.

Fatal Consequence

Title: Fatal Consequences

Publisher: Carina Press

Pub Date: 18 July 2011

ISBN: 9781426891830

Author: Marie Force

‘Fatal Consequences’ by Marie Force is a very thrilling read. However, I find that the plot is rather complex and too confusing for me to follow in the beginning.

Nevertheless, I managed to get a grip on it after a few chapters and I must say that I’m impressed with the way things developed from one page to another.

Over all, this is quite a good read. I would recommend this book to those who love thrillers and suspense.

I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Carina Press via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book.

Healing Your Marriage When Trust Is Broken

Title: Healing Your Marriage When Trust Is Broken

SubTitle: Finding Forgiveness and Restoration

Publisher: Harvest House Publishers

Pub Date: 1 August 2011

ISBN: 9780736943154

Author: Cindy Beall

This is a particularly difficult book for me to read and review. Not because the author made a complete blunder out of it, but because the author reminded me of the awful things I would prefer not to remember and put it behind me. It hurt very much to read this book because it’s agonizingly familiar and way too close to home.

I dare not read this book. I stopped reading after the first chapter because I ended up crying at the husband and wife scenario that was written in the book. This is a self-help book, intending to help couples who had lost their trust in each other and patch up their marriage. It would have helped me very much if I came across this book last year, but not now as I am already pass that point (hopefully and would remain so) and I prefer to leave the past where it belongs: In the past.

Doubtlessly, this book ought to be able to help a lot of couples out there. I know it is not professional of me, but I rate this book a 5 regardless. Why? Because I’m convinced that the book would be helpful for couples who wants to save their marriage but do not know how or where to start.

Book description:

A few days after an ordinary Valentine’s Day, Cindy Beall’s life changed forever. She listened with disbelief to her husband, Chris, a respected pastor, confess to pornography addiction, numerous affairs, and the startling news that a woman was pregnant with his child.

With raw honesty and intimate knowledge of pain and of God’s power to resurrect something new out of the debris of betrayal, Cindy reveals how to:

  • seek guidance, counseling, and prayer support when deceptions surface
  • help the family heal from the grief and humiliation
  • rebuild trust after porn, sex, and other addictions undermine a relationship
  • protect a marriage from lies and unfaithfulness
  • rely on God to pursue forgiveness and move forward in new promises

Cindy’s compassion, grasp of God’s Word, and the Bealls’ remarkable story will help wives and husbands trust God with their broken hearts and follow His leading, hope, and redemption.

‘Escape From Riddler’s Pass’ by Amy Green is the sequel to ‘Quest For The Scorpion’s Jewel’. I did not know what to expect from this book, but I got to say that the author has outdone herself.

Like the previous book, I enjoyed this book very much and I was definitely pleased to see a lot of moral values being embedded in this book for readers to ponder upon.

Definitely the kind of books I would approve young adults reading and despite of the short length, I enjoyed the book very much.

Highly recommended for leisure or for classroom use. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of the book from Warner Press via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book.

Quest For The Scorpion’s Jewel

Title: Quest for the Scorpion’s Jewel

SubTitle: Amarias Adventures: Book 1

Publisher: Warner Press

Pub Date: 1 July 2011

ISBN: 9781593174323

They don’t write wonderful YA books like this anymore. There’s always the paranormal creatures or mythical creatures in love with human kinda stories and whatnot, and I’m kinda wary of that lately. And so, it is refreshing to finally read something purely old school and adventurous like this book, ‘Quest For The Scorpion’s Jewel’.

This book is purely teenage escapism and definitely something I would approve my young teenage boy or teenage girl to read to pass their time.

This book is highly entertaining and quite challenging in some ways, and if you’re young at heart, you would enjoy reading this book too. It’s been quite some time since I got hooked to such a book since ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ by C.S. Lewis.

A word of warning, though: Be prepared to be taken on an adventure of your lifetime without even needing to step out of your room.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I received an ARC of this book from Warner Press via Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review for this book.

I think everyone who have a good taste for thriller, mystery and suspense fiction would be able to appreciate this book. It was well-written, well researched and not to mention highly challenging to the mind.

The author have a talent for surprising the readers every now and then and I feel as if I couldn’t put down this book til I’m completely done with it. And even when I’ve finished reading this book, I couldn’t resist but read it over and over again. The mystery that has been created was really fascinating and unpredictable.
