Guest post by Princess Breanna

Kah kah kah kah kah! Hello everybody. *waves*. My name is Breanna. But Auntie Cleff calls me Anna.

Last time, my sweetheart, Smallkucing hijacked Auntie Cleff’s blog because she had diarrhea. I don’t want to loose to my sweetheart, so I also want to hijack Auntie Cleff’s blog.

Actually, it’s very easy to sabotage Auntie Cleff. Just feed her, and she’d be like a skinny piggie and snore all day long!

Anyway… before my Auntie Cleff wakes up and finds out what I’ve been up to and goes boohoo for being bullied again, I better tell you all why I’m here today.

I’m here to inform pretty sisters and handsome brothers out there that my mummy is now selling her yummy cookies.

My Auntie Cleff says mummy’s cookies are very nice to eat… not too sweet, not too hard and just nice…she always use complicated words like fragrant, buttery, exquisite to describe mummy’s cookies.

I don’t know what those words mean, but I know Auntie Cleff is addicted to mummy’s cookies. Tsk tsk tsk… this Auntie Cleff… she’s like bottomless pit… everything she will wallop!

ps: Want to know whether Auntie Cleff is bluffing or telling the truth about mummy’s cookies? Order some cookies from my mummy and try it for yourself. 😀

So this is me…

Today, Mommy Ling tagged me on fb. She made a cute avatar of me…with something looking suspiciously like the old newsroom I used to work at as the background. You see, Mummy Ling met me before, so she knew how I look like in real life.

Well, I have to say, the avatar really looks like me in real life… Long, jet black hair and always wearing a pair of spectacles (I take the spectacles off occasionally… when I wanna transform into the Super Mad Fairy, that is)….hahaha… except that I don’t really like to wear T-shirt. I go around in spaghetti straps or sporty sleeveless instead. (Malaysia too hot…)

Cleffairy:Do I look like Lois Lane? Or Clark Kent’s daughter? LOL!

ps: Thank you for making this, and thank you for keeping me in your thoughts, Ling. *hugs*

Shake the bombs bombs!

Just when I thought my day will not get any better… with a high fever and runny red nose, with no hope of recovering within these few days, Mamarazzi, Paparazzi and Smallkucing came by and dropped me a couple of bombs to cheer me up. 😀

Red bombs and yellow bombs…

And a lot of white bombs…for dinner and breakfast…

Most of the white bombs are in my tummy now. 😀 Thank you so much Paparazzi, Mamarazzi and Smallkucing for taking the trouble to drop by and rescuing poor Auntie Little Bird from ha-choo-ing in the kitchen while cooking dinner for her family. The bombs are explosive… 😀 they went Kaboom the minute it got home…and one victim zonk out like a stuffed python because he was too full after eating it. 😀

Cleffairy: God bless you and your family, Smallkucing. 😀 Auntie go to lala land now before Auntie’s Little Brother Chris come and piakkk auntie for not resting. 😛

Parents Creed…

I’ve been meaning to write about this… but I’m a huge procrastinator.I received a lot of pressies this year for my birthday, and unlike the yesteryears, this year’s birthday wasn’t painful or lonely at all. This year, I’m remembered, and I feel so blessed. I wanted to write about what I’ve received, but first, let me share what could be the most meaningful gift among the things I’ve received.

Someone very special gave me this for my birthday earlier this month. It’s a little card, with writings on it. Initially, I wanted to snap the picture of the card and put it here, but seeing how bad the quality of camera is, it won’t do the beauty of the card any justice, and I think it’s best if I just copy the writings over here:

Parents Creed

If a child lives with criticism,
he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility,
he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule,
he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame,
he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance,
he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement,
he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise,
he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness,
he learns justice.
If a child lives with security,
he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval,
he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with
acceptance and friendship,
he learns to find Love in the world.

Cleffairy: Thank you, Cikgu, for being so thoughtful. 😀 This means a lot to me, and I’ll remember this for as long as I can.

ps: Your other pressie… the sexy garment… lol… I used it when I paint, instead of cooking. 😀 Yeah, I do paint. *roll eyes*

Yummy oh yummy…

Sorry for being absent for quite some time and haven’t had the time to visit your blogs and leave my thoughts. I was unavoidably detained during the festive season. LOL. You know… the usual… rampaging around for ketupat and rendangs as well as cookies and cakes.

Apart from walloping those sleep inducing ketupats, I was whisked away to the world of good food by someone. Can you guess who that someone is?

That someone brought me to Yin Her Restaurant, Sungai Buloh for these…

Thinly sliced pickled papayas with asam boi as the appetizers.

A very thick and nice spinach soup. I am not a fan of greens like spinach, period, but this soup is to die for. I like this spinach soup a lot… and I drank it up til the last drop. 😀

This, ladies and gentlemen is ‘Tiliapia Fish’ done in Nyonya Assam Style. Again, I am not a fan of fishes… cuz I’m scared of the tiny bones. When I was a little girl… I used to love fishes very much, but once the bones got stuck in my throat, I never want to have fishes again. The special someone told me that this fish doesn’t have any tiny bones… and so, I tried some. This dish is very nice too. I didn’t take much of it, cuz i was still skeptical that there’s no tiny bones in it. I took a lot of the sauce, though. It’s very nice. Thumbs up for it. Though that I wish they put more pineapple bits along with more ladies fingers in it.

This dish is called Kam Heong Sotong. It’s squids fried with loads of curry powder along with dried shrimps, curry leaves as well as bird eye chillies. I’d cut my hands and legs for another round of this dish. It’s very nice, and I like it very much.*blush* I think this dish went into my tummy more than anyone else’s tummy. Hahaha. Thumbs up for Kam Heong Sotong. Very delicious, and it’s something that I’ll probably go for again if I were to go to this restaurant again.

Next up… is the crawling crabs. LOL… sorry… I mean, steamed crabs with egg whites and loads of sliced ginger. The crabs are so fresh that you could have sworn that they’d crawl on your plates. Yummylicious…oozing with it’s natural flavour and sweetness. Another dish that a must have if you’re to visit this restaurant. Good on it’s own or with steamed white rice.

And this is…Hokkien fried noodles. Very nice too, not too oily, and just to my liking. There’s loads of squids, chicken bits as well as prawns in it. Something I’d hang my neck for again too.

There’s also claypot tofu. This one is very nice as well. I only took a little bit of these cuz i was too busy stuffing my face with the ‘Kam Heong Sotong’.

And as for dessert, we had this complimentary green bean ‘tong sui’. Very refreshing and very suitable to wash down those hot and spicy dishes with.

Do you know who that ‘someone’ is? Here’s some clue:

1. That someone have a new camera, and is a blogger. And all the pictures here is courtesy of someone.

2. That someone is a VERY generous person.

3. That someone couldn’t pronounce my real name, and therefore ends up calling me Auntie Little Bird.

4. That someone is somewhat like me, loves books very much and is an avid reader.

5. That someone is often featured here in Over A Cuppa Tea as a guest model/photographer. (cuz yours truly looks like a horrible ghost and not photogenic and is hopeless in snapping/editing pictures)

Cleffairy: If you’ve been a reader of my blog and someone’s blog, you will know who is that someone is. 😀

You’re my sweetie pie…

The other day, STP posted Strawberry Shortcake Cuppy Cake song on his blog. And today, I’m gonna plagiarize, and put up the same song, and dedicate it to one cute, sweet little girl. 😀

Do you know who she is?

If you’ve been frequenting her mummy’s blog, you would know that that sweet looking little girl is Elise. 😀 Today, 3rd September 2010 is her birthday. She’s 2 years old today. Please head over to her mummy’s blog and wish her a happy birthday. ( I know, I know… another birthday dedication, you say? But hey, you can’t blame me… she’s such a sweetheart.)

She’s going to break a lot of hearts when she grows up, don’t you think? Such a sweet and pretty little girl.

Here’s Auntie Cleff’s wishes for you, my sweetie pie: Hoping you’ll grow up to be healthy, blessed, and wise. May God grant you serenity and contentment and every single good thing the world could offer. Happy birthday, Love.

Cleffairy: I’m no fairy godmother, and you’re no Cinderella. I can give you no pumpkin carriage or a Prince Charming on a white horse, but I can certainly pray for you, Poppet. I’ll keep you in my prayers. 😀

Hope you have a super…birthday.

You know… there’s a lot of people who sticks by me since they got to know me. At first… they thought I’m somewhat a monster. But when they came to know me, they didn’t see me as such… well…at least not that I know of.

No… I’m not going to say happy birthday to me, because my birthday is not today. 1st September is not my birthday.Today is the birthday of 2 people that had been in my life for as long as I started this blog.

One, is the birthday of my little sister, Starsecrets. I get to know her a couple of years ago when I got addicted to an online game known as Maplestory. Yes. She didn’t know me as a blogger, but a gamer. She knew the ‘original’ ‘ Cleffairy. An elemental magician, a wand wielding Ice Mage who goes around in the game world freezing monsters and fighting game bosses. She did not know me as a blogger, or even a writer. She had the pleasure and the privileges of seeing me at my brattiest, wackiest, and nastiest! LOL.

Starsecrets stood by me during my darkest hours. I didn’t have anyone back then… a couple of years ago. I have yet to discover many kind bloggers out there. I had nobody to talk to about what’s bothering me, and she was there for me during the time I was depressed and close to suicide. And even though she’s not a Malaysian, she came to visit me to celebrate Christmas together a couple of years ago.

She’s a dear friend, and a sweet little sister. One I could count on to be there fore me when I need to cry and need a hug or two. Mei…thank you for being there for jie. Jie miss you a lot. *hugs* Wish to see you again. On your birthday… jie hope you would be happy, contented, and wiser. If you need a pair of ear to listen to you, you know jie’s number. You can always call, or sms jie. Jie will be there for you. Remember that. Jie loves you, and so does Da Jie, Ah Bear, Didi, Jojo, Bra, Panties, Jia0 Jia0 and Si Pet. We all love you.

And then came the story when I just started to blog. I used free platform back then. WordPress blog. I blogged about current issues, political issues as well as my lunatic rant and raving. Not many were interested in what I had to say back then. Only few paid attention to what I had to say and take my words seriously. Among them are Pete, Calvin and Chris.

Today, 1st September, is also Chrisau’s birthday. He had been a good friend and very supportive of my writing ever since I started blogging. And therefore, in honour of his birthday, I’d like to wish him a very happy 40th birhday. :d *EVIL GRINZ* Don’t worry Chris. You’ll be my ‘little brother’ forever, no matter how the clock goes tick tock! LOL. Thank you so much for being a loyal reader and still reading what I have to say from 2 years ago til this very day. I really do appreciate you taking me seriously back then, and I really appreciate your thoughts. You have been really kind to me.

Cleffairy: Okay, okay…Chris, Pete and Calvin, I know you folks are going to have a huge laugh at my preference on red undies and black silk boxers. *sulk*

They’re Not Your Friends

I have a really weird taste in almost everything. Be it clothing, food or even books. What people regard as not valuable, I consider it a treasure. I went to BookXcess Anniversary sale last month, and as I was digging away in the bargain bin of books that says going for RM1, Rm2 and RM3, I saw this book, ‘They’re Not Your Friends’ by Irene Zutell. It costs me RM3. Very cheap, for a good read.

Catchy cover, and it screams childishness. Absolutely female, vibrant and cheerful with the splashy pink.

But what made me buy this book is not the exuberance of the book cover, but the synopsis on the back of the book. This story is about a reporter. An entertainment reporter, and it made me think of myself before I left the newsroom and go freelancing in the field of reporting.

While I was specialized in investigative journalism, where my work revolves around digging for hard news, the character of this story, Charlotte ‘Lottie’ Love is the direct opposite of me in the industry. She’s an entertainment reporter, and therefore, nothing about her work revolves around nosing for crimes and high profile corruptions among politicians. Hers is pure soft news…with sex scandal and gossip thrown into her notepads.

Charlotte “Lottie” Love has a thing for celebrity. Actually, it’s more of an obsession. All her life she’s lurked in the shadows of Hollywood, desperate to step into the light. When she lands a job at Personality magazine, her dreams of red-carpet strolls, popping flashbulbs, and the attention of white-hot heartthrobs finally start to come true. Even Hollywood’s latest “It” boy falls for her, and everyone wants his story.

Can Lottie score the scoop? Ask Lem Brac, a British boozehound in the twilight of a mediocre career who knows an exclusive with the It boy would save his job. Lem looks for help from his new (and only) friendMike Posner, a young hotshot reporter just hired away from a New York tabloid.

But Mike has some damaging secrets himself that are about to surface. He needs the interview too, and it’s anyone’s guess how far he’ll go to get it. Welcome to the world of entertainment journalism and star worship, where you’re only as good as the gossip you dig up.

Good read? I suppose it is a good read. Some may find it boring to look into a life of a reporter, be it an investigative reporter who writes hard news or entertainment reporter who expose every little dirty underwear that you have in your closets, but I think the book reflects the politics of journalism industry. Thumbs up for “They’re Not Your Friends”.

Cleffairy: Here’s a message to those people who truly care for me and spare me in their thoughts. You are not my friends. But you’re more like a family to me. Not even family came close to loving me unconditionally without judging. Thank you for not just being my friends. You’re more than that.
