Resorts World Genting Hosts Special Buka Puasa Dinner with Orphanages and Old Folks Homes

In the spirit of giving and the holy month of Ramadhan, Resorts World Genting recently hosted a Majlis Berbuka Puasa for underprivileged orphan children and senior citizens. Resorts World Genting prepared a fun-filled itinerary, for the children and senior citizens in conjunction with the festive season, treating them to the latest and greatest experiences available at the mountain resort.

image

Waking up bright and early on Sunday, the children woke up anticipating their first trip to Resorts World Genting and prepared light jackets for the trip. With 158 children from three orphanages (Dar Asnaf Al-Fateh Gombak, Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah and Rumah Anak Yatim Dan Asnaf As-Solihin) and 12 senior citizens from Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Husna Arrashid in attendance, the journey up Gunung Ulu Kali allowed these special guests the chance to see spectacular views of pristine rainforest coming up the mountain.

Upon arrival at Genting Grand Hotel, the children and senior citizens were greeted warmly by the Resorts World Genting team, including Puan Seri Cecilia Lim, wife of Genting Malaysia Berhad Chairman Hospitality and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Dato’ Edward Holloway, Executive Vice President of Leisure and and Katherine Chew, Vice President of Resort Communications and Public Relations).

image

As members of the Resorts World Genting team greeted each orphan and senior citizen individually, smiles were seen all around as the guests marvelled at the scale of the resort and enjoyed the cool weather. Speaking in Malay, Puan Seri Cecilia Lim said, “I would first like to extend my thanks to the children’s homes and old folks’ homes for attending our ‘buka puasa’ feast on this special day. The month of Ramadhan is a holy time where our Muslims friends fast together for their faith. This month is also a time where we are all reminded to be giving and this celebration today is a small gesture by Resorts World Genting to the community.”

With the guests and the Genting team quickly becoming fast friends, the group was led up to the soaring atrium of SkyAvenue. The children and senior citizens witnessed the brand-new Batman Experience at the SkySymphony stage. A celebration of the iconic comic superhero’s 80 years, the show dazzled the guests as the history of the Caped Crusader played out across 360-degree wraparound screens and transforming winch ball display set to a pulsating soundtrack.

image

After seeing this kinetic audio-visual extravaganza, the group was then led to the Snow World for another treat. Snow World at First World Plaza brought the guests into an enchanting wintry wonderland at a chilly -6°, they were ushered in by warm staff to prepare them with gloves, boot and jackets. They were brief at the entrance and off they went, running into the cold. The children were in awe of the snow and all the 3D trick art attractions. Giggles and laughter were heard as they slide down the toboggans and having snow ball fights with each other.

Filled with adrenaline from experiencing snow for the very first time, the group walked through SkyAvenue Mall to proceed to the 4th Floor Adventureland; where the Dinosaurs at and oddities await them. In the Jurassic Research Centre, the group were brought back into time when Dinosaurs ruled the earth. Some were scared and some were brave, to get up close and personal with each dinosaurs that were displayed. They continued on their journey into a world of oddities at Ripley’s Believe it or Not with the wackiest and weirdest items that our unusual world has to offer. They played around with the interactive displays and burst out with laughter as they experienced new things like never before.

“Decades back, I used to visit Resorts World Genting with my family and I have many happy memories here. Although my loved ones are not here with me, I am often reminded of them during the Ramadhan month and I felt young again today whilst enjoying myself with the many activities,” said En. Harrunashid Mohd Nor from Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Husna Arrashid.

After a fun-filled day, the group head out into the cool mountain air just as the sun began to set, bathing the landscape in a golden glow. With the time for Buka Puasa drawing near, the children and senior citizens were treated to a thrilling ride on the SkyAvenue Skyway cable car, marvelling at the dusk-hued panorama. Upon arrival at the graceful setting of Awana Hotel, they were led to Rajawali Coffee House where a delicious spread of over 100 dishes awaited them. Puan Seri Cecilia Lim, Dato’ Edward Holloway and Katherine Chew were once again in attendance, greeting and mingling among the group.

image

As the Maghrib prayer call rang out across the clear mountain air, the guests tucked in to the special pasar malam-themed buffet. Featuring a collection of food and drink stalls serving dishes deeply steeped in Malaysian culture – from Ayam Percik to Murtabak, Nasi Briyani to Roast Lamb, fresh seafood to a giant spread of traditional kueh – members of the Genting team assisted the guests to ensure that everyone got to sample a taste of the splendid Buka Puasa buffet.

“Although we don’t often get to visit the ‘Pasar Ramadhan’, I felt like I was in one today with the amazing buffet. I also had a lot of fun watching the shows today, riding the cable car and even seeing Batman!” said Puan Roselina binti Rusli from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah

image

With full bellies and broad smiles, the children and senior citizens were treated to one last surprise. Each of the three orphanages and the old folks home received a gift hamper of rice, cooking oil, Milo, Maggi instant noodles, dried Bihun and biscuits to take a little bit of the Genting hospitality home with them. Each child also received a goodie bag containing a Faber-Castell stationery set and snacks like Twisties, Cheezels and assorted candies, along with an auspicious Duit Raya packet. The senior citizens were not left out, with each receiving a gift bag containing necessary amenities including a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, body cream and a revitalising bottle of Minyak Cap Kapak.

Under the twinkling light of a thousand stars against an inky-black sky, it was time to say goodbye. The Resorts World Genting team bade farewell to each and every one of their guests, wishing them a happy Ramadhan and a special Hari Raya Puasa, with a promise that they would see each other again. Ramadhan is a month of reflection and generosity, and this special Majlis Berbuka Puasa day will be one that these children and senior citizens will always remember.

Althea Watercolor Cream Tint Review

I don’t do much makeups and I prefer to keep it simple when it comes to grooming. I have always believed that less is more, especially when it comes to dolling myself up and therefore, I’m always on the lookout for makeup products that will make me look fantastic but with minimal efforts.

image

And here’s some must haves if you want to look beautiful with minimal efforts; Althea Korea’s newly released Althea Watercolor Cream Tint. The Althea Watercolor Cream tint comes in 4 bold and lovely shades; #1 Plum Cream, #2 Strawberry Cream, #3 Peach Cream and #4 Marron Cream.

image

Check out the swatch on my hand. The shades are really deep, bold and striking. It’s especially great if you want to doll yourselves up without spending too much time in front of the mirror to paint your face. The colours are so bright and bold that it gives the illusion that you’ve done a full makeup by just wearing the the tint.

Here’s sharing with you how I look like wearing different shades of Althea Korea’s newly released Althea Watercolor Cream Tint in different shades.

image

#01 Plum Cream is a really daring shade that will make you stand out in the crowd. Highly recommended shade if you want to attend some formal or goamourous events.

image

#02 Strawberry Cream gives off bright red tint on the lips. It’s brighter than the #01 Plum Cream. #02 Strawberry Cream is a really wonderful shade to be used as blusher as well and it’s a must have if you love striking lip colours.

image

#03 Peach Cream is my favourite shade. Great to be used if you want to achieve a sweet, innocent and youthful look.

image

#04 Marron Cream is much more subtle in comparison to it’s sister shades. This shade is great for daily makeup look where you want to look good, but not striking enough that it’ll attract too much attention to yourselves.

image

Here’s sharing with you the picture of yours truly wearing all four shades. Do note that I was only wearing Althea Flawless Cream Concealer and Althea Watercolor Cream Tint, and nothing else. Not too bad, right? It makes me look presentable with minimal efforts.
The Althea Watercolor Cream Tint are moisturising on the lips, lasts quite long and does not stain easily too once they’re set in, and therefore it’s definitely a plus point for busy people who can’t touch up their makeups often like me. These sparks so much joy and they will definitely be permanent residents in my makeup pouch and on my vanity table.

For more information on the Althea exclusive Althea Watercolor Cream Tint that I’ve used; head over to Althea website HERE.The Althea Watercolor Lip Tint featured above are available only on Althea website.

A Sneek Peek: High Line, Resorts World Genting

Dear foodies, I exciting gastronomic news to share with you. Resorts World Genting will soon add another culinary attraction in SkyAvenue soon; High Line.

image

I wasn’t really aware about High Line’s to be honest, but I’ve had the opportunity to get a little sneek peek of what we can expect from High Line when I was attending the Taste MIGF 2018 that was held on September 1-2 at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel recently as the restaurant has participated in Taste MIGF 2018 to give a sneak peek on what they will be offering soon ahead of their opening. I thought I’d share with you what we can expect from High Line when it opens it’s door to the public soon.

image

The highly anticipated restaurant will be located at SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting and will houses a wide range of international cuisines including sausages, meat, seafood and more. Driven by Chef Muhamad Muhader who has nearly two decades of experience in food preparation and F & B management, High Line will definitely please your palate.

image

Nasi Lemak Lobster. This is definitely the bomb and pretty sensational on the palate and definitely take the modest, all time Malaysian favourite Nasi Lemak to a much more luxurious level. I was told that this will be one of the High Line’s signature when I had em at Taste MIGF 2018. I can’t imagine how wondrous it will be if the actual portion has anything to do with this sample version of it.

image

BBQ Beef Brisket Slider was not too shabby. Burger lovers will definitely appreciate this, but neat eaters will find it quite challenging to eat. It takes some skills to have a mouthful of it as the slider fillings will tend to get sloppy. That’s what sliders are about though. They are supposed to be messy when you take a bite on em.

image

Grilled Sausage with Lamb Merquez. Lamb sausage served on a pretzel bun may look like your ordinary sausage buns or hotdogs, but there’s nothing ordinary about this one. The Grilled Sausage with Lamb Merquez is satisfyingly meaty and were bursting with flavours. The slightly chewy buns provided an interesting experience as well.

The food pictures were from Taste MIGF 2018 where only sampling portion were served and not an actual presentation from the restaurant should you order them off from their menu. The actual portion of each dishes will definitely be bigger than this.

The restaurant is expected to be opening soon in SkyAvenue, so KIV for more updates on High Line.

Bloom&Grow Brings Together Gardening Enthusiasts at Setapak Central Mall

Living in Setapak can be quite mundane. While there are plenty of eateries around, there are rarely events that brings people together in Setapak and so when I heard that my second home, Setapak Central Mall is hosting it’s first plant  event, themed “Bloom  Grow” last week, I knew I had to check it out, what more it will be a great excuse to find some inspiration for my indoor garden.

image

The event saw plant experts, societies, organisations and gardening vendors coming together for a series of demos, talks, workshops, and a plant bazaar to cater to the growing interest of urban gardening.

image

It was an insightful event, I must say.

image

During the event, visitors were treated to a  thing or two about plants as speakers shares helpful advice on the various signs of plant problems such as leave drop, flower abortion, fruit abortion and finding the right soil mix for different types of plants. We were also given insight into designing and maintaining aquaponics, a system that combines conventional aquaculture and hydroponics in a symbiotic environment.

image

Spotted some interesting thing at the Bloom&Gloom event; the terrarium plants. These are the sort of thing you would want to plant indoors.

image

Bonsai being showcased. These are really fascinating and takes alot of love, care and effort to nurture a beautifully grown bonsai.

Setapak Central will be making Bloom&Gloom and annual event and I am certainly looking forward to attending more events in Setapak Central Mall.

Setapak Central Mall is quite a lovely place to hangout and shop at. If you are around Setapak area, do drop by

5 Design Ideas To Make Your Small Bedroom Look Bigger

image

Big city apartments and modern space downsizing all calls for design ideas that expands the possibilities of small. You might have found a well-price apartment in the city center, or puncak jalil house for sale, but realized that the good price is due to the lack of square footage. But don’t despair. Small apartments and small bedrooms are really not a problem. A small bedroom is not a good enough reason to give up on decorating it. Even a small room can turn out to be come a real oasis if it is properly designed and decorated.

This just goes to show that even small bedrooms can have grandiose style with the right design ideas. Read on for 5 design ideas that can help you maximize space for your small bedroom and give some special charm to even the smallest of spaces.

1. Live vertically

As they say, if floor space is limited and you can’t expand, the only way left to go is up. If your space comes with higher ceilings, you can consider adding a platform to your bedroom. The space underneath the platform can be turned into storage space or seating. If building a platform is not your thing, you can consider opting for a simple loft bed. The same idea applies to the space underneath your loft bed. You can fit in a desk, or even a small sofa underneath your loft bed. While this may not be an option for everyone, for those who don’t mind climbing into bed (literally), this design idea can completely transform your space.

You can also try other ways to fully utilize all the vertical space available. Consider floor-to-ceiling furniture or even built-ins. Most of the time, the space above pieces of furniture, like a bookshelf, is left empty. You can also consider hanging bookshelves high up that run the length of the room. These ideas help you to fully utilize space that would otherwise go to waste and helps you gain even more storage space.

2. Add wallpaper

Although the conventional décor advice is to avoid wallpaper in small spaces, sometimes it pays to go against the flow. Wallpaper usually gets the bad rep for making rooms look busy and cluttered. However, using the right style of wallpaper can do just the opposite. You can consider adding wallpaper with a bold pattern to one wall to turn it into a focal wall. This can be the wall where the headboard of your bed is. This visual interest attracts the eye and distracts from the lack of square-footage.

Just be sure to choose a large-scale wallpaper pattern instead of a small and busy one. Larger patterns help keep the proportions in tow, while small busy patterns just add visual clutter to your space. Oh, and don’t forget to coordinate your textiles with your wallpaper to make your space look cohesive, lest you risk wandering into the dangerous territory of pattern clashes.

3. Float your shelves

Nowadays, a nightstand is no more adept at being a bedside table than many of its other furniture brethren. A floating shelf just above your bed (or even beside your bed) can be a space-saving substitute for the traditional nightstand. A floating shelf can also take the place of many other pieces of furniture. It can be a book case, a place to hold a collection of art, or even a laptop desk. The possibilities are limitless.

What’s so great about it is that it provides valuable surface space without all of the visual clutter beneath it. Although you do have to bear in mind that they need to be securely mounted to your wall. Do take caution if you are thinking of placing the shelves above your bed, don’t place them too low and close to your headboard or you might risk hitting your head on them.

4. Magnify with mirrors

Mirrors are an interior designer’s easiest trick to create the illusion of a bigger space. Not only do they expand your visual space, they look great and take up little to no room as well. They are also easy to incorporate into your space. One of the easiest ways to make sure your mirrors are doing the most they can is to smartly position them so that they reflect the light from a window. This helps keep everything lighter and brighter, bringing in more natural light to your space.

You can consider just leaning a large body-length mirror against the wall. No holes needed and no fuss. However, you might want to secure it with a wall tacky just for some peace of mind. You wouldn’t want it to fall over and shatter in the middle of the night.

5. Space-saving furniture

We can’t stress the importance of making your furniture do double or even triple duty if you’re dealing with a small space. For example, you can use nesting tables in place of a traditional nightstand. This instantly creates more storage room for when you might need it. If you don’t, you can tuck the smaller nested table back into its place. This avoids the need to bring in more furniture to do the same job. What’s more, you can also use the empty space underneath the nested tables for even more storage.

You can also consider using combining functions for your furniture. Make one single piece of furniture serve multiple purposes. For instance, you can set a small desk right next to your bed. This way, you can score a workstation-slash-nightstand in one fell swoop while also saving space and your budget.
