Connected moments

I’m really getting sick and tired getting bullied by little kids. More often than not, I always found myself in strange predicament where I’m tricked or outsmart by little kids.My own son is not an exception in this, and being bullied by a 2 years old kid the other day is my last straw.

Remember the post where I was bullied into buying ice cream for Smallkucing when I was babysitting him just because he sweet talked me into buying it by saying ice cream contains calcium and it will do him good?

Do you still remember that particular post where I was tricked by that little boy and his mummy ended up explaining to me that she fed the boy with milk that contains Gangliosides?

You see, I got rather curious about all those connected tot, gangliosides and braincells connections and stuff. Well, I had some free time on hand today, and therefore, I did some homework and googled about it and found this interesting video about a child who is ‘connected’.

The video is all about a mother-child moment where the mother has just came back from doing groceries. She then proceed to ask her daughter to help her put up a note on the fridge by using a magnet after explaining to the little girl that magnet would stick to metal. Then out of the sudden, the keys fell down under the fridge and the mother failed to retrieve it.

The video is a cliffhanger, though… if you want to know the ending, you got to click the option and guess how the child help the mother to retrieve the keys. :D

If you guessed it right, you’d see how a connected child thinks. If you don’t, you’ll be given an option to try again.

Anyway, I’m sure most of you are ‘connected’ enough to guess it correctly, and this video is not just for you mummy and daddies out there, but it’s also for your little tots to watch.

You can show this to your child and make him or her guess how the little girl in the video can help her mother retrieve the keys that’s fallen down under the fridge.

For more information on the importance of Gangliosides in young children’s development and examples of connected children who can apply what they had learn in their daily lives, kindly head over HERE and brace yourself for more connected moments. :D

Cleffairy: ‘Connected’ children are not just children who knows how to memorize, follow instruction and merely parrot your words, but children who can think creatively out of the box and utilize the knowledge in his or her daily lives.

Flooded kitchen

Just a few days before  Chinese New Year, my kitchen flooded. It was filled with water and it stinks terribly. I had a hell of a time mopping up the stinking water away and have my kitchen all  cleaned up.

The superstitious Chinese would have claimed that this is a good sign… water flooding means money is coming in, but not to me. Water flooding in the kitchen means I will not only have to eat out, it means more money will be going out too as I have to spend some amount of money to get the it repaired.

*sigh* I have yet to get some plumber to come over and have it repaired. You see…it’s festive season, and not many people are in the mood of doing anything but celebrating. Even if they are, they’re double charging for their services, and so I decided to wait til at least February is over before repairing the old Copper Sink.

Hopefully, by March I will have enough money to repair the kitchen. In the meantime, I’ll just eat out and look at all these websites selling Copper Sinks so that I can get a clearer picture on what kind of sink I would want to use to replace the old sink. 🙁

iPad? Good Lord, let’s just buy Kotex!

Went to window shop with my dad earlier, and he wanted to buy me an iPad as a Christmas present because I’ve been prattling about wanting an ebook reader since God knows when. But then… I discovered that an iPad have a lot of disadvantages and not worth the money, and therefore, I told my dad not to bother to buy me one as I could buy a powerful gaming system with that disgusting amount of money.

Here’s iPad’s disadvantages…

* Flash is not supported, so you won’t be able to watch most online videos or play online games. (Yes, folks… you can’t watch most porn movies too, so if you’re buying an iPad for this explicit purpose, you’ll get slightly frustrated)

* No USB support. You can’t connect your a PC keyboard, USB flash drive, USB hard disk, USB headset, wireless USB modem. (well you actually can a USB port, but you need an adapter… oh, what the hell!)

* No built-in card readers. Want to transfer your pictures of videos from your digital camera? You will need to buy a couple of adapters from Apple then. (yippie, more money for the seller?)

* No camera

Want to use your Instant Messenger with a web-cam… definitely not on Apple iPad.

* iPhone OS

Although you may enjoy multi-touch and applications for Apple iPhone, you can’t use most programs, because they work in Windows, Mac OS or Linux.

* No remote administration

* No multi-tasking. iPhone OS on Apple iPad works the same way as on Apple iPhone

* iPad allows to read ebooks…. but it doesn’t use eInk screen, so the feature doesn’t have much sense, as there’s glare and you’d strain your eyes.

* No HDMI

* No CD/DVD/Blu-Ray.

* Wi-Fi is not stable on many iPads.

* You need to hold iPad in your hands when watching videos (uh…that’s not so relaxing, isn’t it?)

Well, of course there’s advantage of using an iPad. You can actually show off that you got a disgustingly expensive gadget with you since it’s expensive and chic (can still show off even if you don’t actually know how to use it… that stuff is a babe magnet….)

Cleffairy: Does owning a DSLR camera makes you a photographer? Well, the answer is no. If you lack the skill to capture good pictures with a DSLR camera that you bought… that makes you not a photographer or a photo-blogger, but merely a camera owner.

ps:  Have a merry  and blessed Christmas, folks. I’d be busy for my book launch for a couple of days. 😀

Damart

I can still remember. When I was a little girl, December was one of the most exciting time of the year. Do you know why? Because I used to live in the gloomy Coventry, and instead of merely having the usual drizzling rain, we had sparkling snow instead during winter instead. The sky too was unusually clear in the morning.

Winter was a pretty exciting affair as I don’t have to go to school and I get to go shopping with my mum and dad apart from making little snowman in the snow piled garden in the morning.

Winter was also the time of the year where I get new clothing and thermal wear to keep myself warm with. My parents used to buy me second hand winter clothing as they could not find any affordable ones in the mall.

They’d usually shop for my winter clothing and accessories from the weekly boot sale, and I have to say, there’s not much of a choice over there and the clothing was not exactly cheap either as the sellers knew that we’re desperate for it. We could not choose what fit us best and we also could not have the clothing in our favourite colours too. Sometimes, we get spoil goods and couldn’t return it too.

If only there was Damart back then. It could have save my mum and dad quite a lot as they usually have mega sale by the end of the year, offering varieties of thermal wear with high quality at an affordable price.

Fella, Felli and Everyone Connects turns 1

Everyone Connects

Do you know what the pair of cartoon in the picture are? Well, most of you may not know this, but they’re Paper Felli and Paper Fella, the mascot of Everyone Connects, A product by TM Malaysia.

Paperman

Do you remember that last year, a mysterious song named ‘Through My Window’ was aired on various media. Nobody knew who the singer was and the song became quite a rage among the youngsters in Malaysia?

It was revealed later that the song was sung by Bunkface, a local boyband in order to promote Everyone Connects campaign. I’m not a fan of local bands… I can be very selective when it comes to listening to the local artists, but I found that Bunkface’s song ‘Through My Window’ is very catchy. Click the vid below to listen to ‘Through My Window’

I could still remember the massive street party last year where everyone sings ‘Through My Window’ during the Everyone Connects campaign by TM.

How time flies. It’s been one year already. Everyone Connects is now one year old.

And Everyone Connects has improved so much since the first time it has been introduced to the public.

TM surely have a way in promoting their products among the youngsters. Everyone Connects’ website is truly cute and amazing. It’s just like a Facebook game.It’s a flash based website, and upon entering the website, you can choose to be either to be the Fella or Felli and explore the website that’s full of infos about TM’s latest news, current promos and contests.

And apart from having the latest information about the latest TM product on the website, you can also interact with your friends who is also checking out the website at the same time via chat. Everyone Connects is very cute and attractive campaign by TM.

One thing that’s interesting about The Everyone Connects World is that when you visit it at night, the background will show the night scene instead of the usual daytime scene. That is just so cool!

Every Connects just celebrated their 1st year anniversary not long ago in the Curve. And the party was huge!

The People

Just look at the sea of people dancing and singing along to ‘Through My Window’
The People

I wouldn’t be able to breathe in there. LOL!
Bunkface!
And what is Everyone Connects without Bunkface and their ‘Through My Window’?

Well, TM has certainly outdone themselves in Everyone Connects campaign. It certainly gets my attention… I simply adore the way they relay information during the Everyone Connects campaign. And paper Fella and Paper Felli is just adorable.

The 5 Worst Reasons For Not Buying Life Insurance

Assets. Income. Expenses. Those are the three most important things to remember when you try to determine just how much life insurance you should Buy Life Insurance to safeguard the financial security and stability of your family when you die.

Calculating how much life insurance your family needs is based on three measures: your assets, your income, and your expenses. Be thorough and accurate in determining the amount of each. And then, you can be sure you purchase the amount of insurance coverage you need to protect your family’s financial future and give you peace of mind.

Let’s look more closely at how to calculate assets, income, and expenses…

Assets: How much are your possessions worth? Your assets may be cash, savings accounts, the equity you have in your home or other property, stocks, and other investments. Your assets may be cars or guitars, artworks or baseball cards, or any other possessions of value.

Income: To calculate your income, include your spouse’s monthly paycheck (after taxes) multiplied by the number of working years your spouse has left. Also include income from your social security benefits. And include income from any other sources, such as life insurance coverage.

Expenses: Here’s where things can get even trickier. Your expenses include taxes on your properties and other assets, your credit card and other debts, any medical costs that are not covered by insurance (and, of course, don’t forget the cost of insurance as an expense). Other expenses include college funds for each of your children. Plus the day-to-day living expenses for your family. And expenses also include probate costs and the costs of your funeral.

Funeral costs plus burial expenses can cost approximately $10,000. With estate taxes, the good news is that you can leave your heirs up to $3.5 million in assets. But over that $3.5 million, the government takes 45 cents of every dollar! A 45% tax rate! Now, $3.5 million may sound like a lot of money, but factor in the equity on your home, your retirement accounts, life insurance benefits, and other assets, and $3.5 million may not look so out of reach.

So how much insurance do you need, and how much should you expect to pay for it?

Let’s say you have a $200,000 mortgage plus other debts of $25,000. Let’s also include a college fund of $100,000 for your child’s education. Include $25,000 for “special needs” (which could be related to career retraining for your spouse, for example). Let’s assume your current annual living expenses are $50,000 and your spouse’s annual net income is $35,000. Also include the value of your spouse’s social security survivor benefit. (To determine the amount, request an estimate from the U.S. Social Security Administration; they base it on your 35 most productive income-earning years.) In this case, let’s say the annual benefit to your family is $15,000.

Based on these figures, your family will have $10,000 or so less per year than they need. If you project that they need help for the next 15 years, an insurance company might estimate that you need about $350,000 in life insurance coverage. This coverage could cost you approximately $40 to $55 per month.

That’s less than $2 a day for Term Life Insurance. The protection it gives your family, and the priceless peace of mind it provides to both you and your family. And getting coverage couldn’t be easier. In most cases, you can even get Online Life Insurancewithout a medical examination. Just remember: assets…income…expenses.

Where toys comes alive…

When I was a little girl, I would always imagine that my toys are alive and they are my friends. I talked to them. They’re my imaginary friends. Then along came Pixar with Toy Story, and I was ecstatic about it. I was really hooked with Toy Story, as it’s a movie where toys became not only alive, but heroes with many misadventures to tell.

Toy Story tells the story of a group of toys…mainly the misadventures of Woody the Cowboy toy as well as Buzz Lightyear, the astronaut action figure with the character suspiciously like Luke Skywalker from The Star Wars along with many other memorable characters like the Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.

I’m no longer a little girl, but the story of the toys goes on when Pixar decided to revive them and put them into action again on the silver screen again in 2010. Pixar came up with Toy Story 3, a sequel to Toy Story and Toy Story 3.

In Toy Story 3, Andy, the protagonist who owns all of those toys is no longer a little boy. He’s now a teenager of seventeen years old, and is pursuing his education in college.

Toy Story 3 starts off with Andy deciding to bring Woody to college with him, but packs up the rest of his toys in a garbage bag to put them away for safekeeping in the attic. Unfortunately for those toys, Mrs. Davis mistakenly throw them away as she believed that Andy no longer wants them.The toys then sneaked into a box that’s going to be donated to a daycare. The toys were saddened and felt betrayed by their owner Andy, thinking that he no longer wants them and therefore discarded them.

Havoc ensues in the world of Toy Story 3 when the toys are innocently abused by the younger children in the daycare, and now it’s up to Woody to to make things right again for his friends. Will Woody succeed? Or will he fail? Will the world of the toys be filled with joy and children’s laughter again?

Find out more in Toy Story 3 DVD, an action filled story where toys not only became alive, but became the heroes of your dreams as well. The DVD can be obtained in Tesco and many other stores near you.

Thumbs up for Toy Story 3. This is one movie perfect for audience of all age with loads of wonderful message to send across.

Cleffairy: No toys gets left behind. 😀
