Blue Danube Waltz

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0VUXLsBSjo]

It’s weekend again, folks, and I’m almost delirious with fever. It must be the rain I or the weather must have disagreed with me, or my bloody novel is getting into my system. I had wanted to write about something else, like cursing Shah Rukh Khan for not coming to take the bloody Datukship award, etc etc ( I may be write about it later), but this bloody song keep replaying in my brain, and I couldn’t get it out of my system, so I guess, I’ll just dump it over here in my blog page and share with you guys, maybe then I’ll be able to get rid of this song from my poor twisted brain.

When I was younger, I always wanted to play this song on a huge grand piano, but I couldn’t, because my genes made me musically illiterate. What’s more, my parents did not encourage me to be any sort of artists(writer included), because they wanted me to grow up to be a scientists. However, I did not let my family get in the ways of my true calling, as I have always been the rebellious one, I am what i am today because I’m one of a huge rebel in my family.

But, I enjoyed listening to this song, among many others very much during my growing up years. It’s Blue Danube, composed by Johann Strauss Jr. or some known him as Johann Strauss II and I did not know much about this feller until this very day. He was actually a very prolific musician, and if I could write like he could composed, I am probably a millionaire by now, and sunbathing until my skin became like BBQ chicken wings somewhere in Tahiti or Hawaii.

Here are the music composition that Johann Strauss Jr. put together, in case you guys are interested in his works and wanted to search for more in youtube.

And here comes the history of Mr. Johann Strauss Jr:

Johann Strauss Sr., the most popular and successful conductor and composer of dance music of his time, discouraged his son’s musical ambitions. Despite these objections, Johann Jr. studied with Joseph Dreschler, and, at age 19, conducted a program which included his own compositions, as well as his father’s.

He earned the title “The Waltz King” because of his prolific output and frequent international tours with his own orchestra, which usually numbered about twenty-six. He was also an excellent self-promoter.

Cleffairy: Let the music heal your soul, and never let anything gets in the way of your ambitions. You can achieve higher than the sky only if you believed in yourself.

PS: By the time I finished writing this entry, Blue Danube kinda flew out of my head, so the ‘dumping therapy’ did work… or not, because now Fur Elise by Beethoven is invading! And minuet too! Have mercy on me, please! It’s going to be a hell of a weekend with my fever. I bet those dead composers are having a real kick at this!(sigh, if only I’m not feeling so delirious, I would have wrote about the story of Fur Elise/Fur Elize-rather sad story behind the song, really)

May I have this dance? Waltz with me?

I was pissed off earlier with the news where a bloody police head discourage people from singing national anthem in his statement. It’s depressing for me to think that there are people who think that national anthem should not be respected and be sang freely by Malaysian citizens, but I am feeling rather romantic at the moment though I have no idea what’s so romantic about not being able to sleep and still awake at 5am. November is a bit of hell for me with the Nano thingie going on. So, bitching aside, and romantic stuff comes to mind.

I was thinking about a particular dance as I wrote for one of my NaNoWriMo chapter scene, which is waltz. So, I’m letting my mood rule for a while as I take a short break from writing dangerously.

For those who’s wishing to romance their partner or spouse, here’s how to waltz. A courtesy of a friend of mine, whom I know from an online game. Tango would be spicier and more sexy, however, Tango is more complicated, I could not Tango even if my life is at stake. Attempting any other dances would make me feel like I have two left feet. Waltz is fine, though. I used to dance with my husband, but these days we simply could not find time to do so. *growl*

Ladies and gentlemen, Waltz originates from Austria. In Austria, peasant dances to every now and then in their free times. The pheasants called the dance as ‘landlers’, and it existed as far back as the Middle Ages. They were popular at weddings, christenings, and folk festivals. The landler is still popular as a folk dance in many sections of Austria and neighboring countries.

Enter the French Revolution, the elaborate dance styles of the French court had dominated all of Europe. At the end of the French Revolution,Austria became one of the focal point of European musical and literary culture as interest in ther native dances, music and culture increased, and the landler moved from the rural areas the drawing rooms of the elite, where it underwent considerable refinement and polishing. The name was changed to walzer, which means or signify gliding.

Not much later, the name is changed into waltz. The waltz was the first dance to use the intimate position for an extended period of time during the dance, and because of this it was subjected to severe criticism and condemnation by the church authorities back then. In many areas, the waltz was banned from public ballrooms for many years.

As time passed by, the popularity of waltz overcame the protest and it’s now accepted in many countries as a formal ballroom dance. And so, my precious readers, that’s just about it about waltz. If you know anymore history about waltz, do drop a line for me.I really would love to know.

😀

Cleffairy:Here’s a poem for you, ladies and gentlemen:

Stars shine brilliantly in the night,

So take her hand and dance with delight,

Stay true to to your heart,

So that you won’t be torn apart.

GOssip for a cause, Go-Celebrate

GOssip banner

I don’t usually attend events, unless it’s really for a good cause…because I’m pretty much of a crowd hater, and huge and noisy crowds never failed to give me horrible headaches. I actually almost missed the GOssip- GO Celebrate, because earlier, I was on a few days business trip in Malacca.

But being a woman myself I did not want to miss an event that celebrate women all around the world for their roles and contribution in the modern society, so I made a mad rush back home to freshen up and drove like a madwoman to SS15 Subang to attend the event and do some coverage for it.

For those who have been under some coconut shells, GOssip is an event to honour women that was split into 3 section which is Go Away, Go Safe and Go Celebrate. I didn’t manage to be present during Go Away and Go Safe that concentrate on violence against women as well as the importance of safe sex as I was not in town which I regret pretty much.

And so, after taking a few bad turns and almost getting lost in the area that I am not familiar with, I finally arrived at the event location and looked for one of the event coordinator from Summer Sands, sponsor and concept owner for GOssip event, Michelle who promised me VIP pass so that I can do coverage for the event.

I was more than ecstatic to report on that particular event, as it’s goal is not only to educate people on how to respect women and stuff, but their sales on merchandises as well ticket for the Go Celebrate Unity Concert which involve 20 performing artiste would be channeled to selected charity bodies related to women.

When I arrived, it was around 5pm, so it’s not crowded yet, and I manage to steal some of the crew and volunteer’s picture as they busied themselves preparing for the grand finale of the event, Go Celebrate Unity Concert. U-jean whose blog is in my blogroll was a volunteer over there, but I can’t put her picture here because it’s too blur. I also had the opportunity to talk to Vern, the GOssip designer who is responsible for designing their official T-shirts. I was really amazed with their ability to multi-task and rush around the Asia Cafe compound and still look good and energetic after a few hours. Talk about adrenaline. They must be pretty high on it.

Asia Cafe was GOssip official venue sponsor. Even though Asia Cafe compound is not that huge, but I would have dropped dead in exhaustion if I were to be put in their shoes.

One thing about Malaysian is that they really love to enjoy and have fun, but when asked to donate for charity or for a good cause, it’s kinda hard for them to do so. As I observed the crew running around on Asia Cafe compound, I notice that as they approach the public for donation for those charity bodies that they’re representing, it’s very hard for them to persuade the public to give donation. When they’re given freebies, they are fast to snatch away whatever they are given, but most are rather reluctant when asked to donate.

I guess GOssip organizer really made a smart move by making the concert a highlight of the whole event, because the ticket sales for the concert are sold like hot cakes. I bought 3 tickets costing Rm5 each too, as the tickets sales would go to charity, but gave it away as I already have VIP pass that will allow me to go anywhere I want, including backstage and front seat during the concert. I kept one as a souvenir, though.

And then, there’s the backstage crew and their sound system control panel. I watched them work in a rather relaxed and professional way. They must have tonnes of experience handling sound systems for event such as this one. I observed them with amusement, and I discovered that way much later, during the concert, that these group of people at the side of the stage have excellent quality of work as the sound system for the concert was superb, and hardly have any noise or interference that can make you cringe. Even the artiste that performed over there sounded greater than usual as they sang live on stage. I salute the sound engineers who made all this possible.

The deejay and the sound engineer were actually shy kind of people, and they were practically blushing when I flash around with my camera, snapping their picture. Sensing their awkwardness, I belatedly asked their permission to get their picture in action, and they had graciously allowed me to do so. I actually feel bad for distracting them from their work, but I really can’t help it. I love seeing people who actually made an event successful. Credit should be given where it’s due. It’s not just the celebrity who should be hailed as idols or heroes for making a concert possible. The sound crews should be given credit too. Without them, the concert will not be made possible. Below are the picture of the deejay and the sound engineer at work.

And then there’s the concert. One hour before the concert, the venue was actually empty, and I wondered if the concert would actually still go on. There’s no sight of fans or performers are around. And the weather was quite cloudy and windy, and silently, I feared that the concert would be canceled or unsuccessful if it rains. But my fears are unfounded, as about ten minutes before the concert started, the performers started to arrive and the crowd started to grow. Well, I guess, Malaysians are indeed last minute kind of people.

When the concert finally commences at 8pm, it was ground shaking. The place was crowded with shouting and clapping fans who gave support to the idols and performers.

The crowds during the concert

Below are the some of the artiste who performed in the concert to show their support for the charity event.

Despite of the glitch that the GOssip team have to go through at earlier stage, where they could not obtain permit for some of their roadshow (Blame the paranoid authorities for that. These days, the authorities seems to think that whatsoever event is related to demonstration against the government) as well as the official merchandiser was forced to deal with faulty T-shirts as a result of the mistake that the printing company had conveniently made, the event was actually very successful, especially Go Celebrate that emphasize celebration in life.

I also would like to congratulate them for their genius idea of letting the emcees sending message about respecting women, safe sex, violence against women and many more educational information throughout the concert . I feel that they definitely convey the message to the crowds by doing so. After all, Malaysians are famous for paying attention to events that involves celebrities and entertainments.

Cleffairy: Remember to practice safe sex, say no to violence against women as well as celebrate your life by living to the fullest.

Latte@8 ep.3, Sunway Pyramid

Pardon the awkward timing of this article. Actually, I thought of writing about this when I came back from watching Latte@8 live in Sunway Pyramid, but I’ve been contemplating to do so because I found that there’s nothing much I can write about it. I’m not sure how many of you out there watched Latte@8 show hosted by Jason Lo every 11pm, Friday on 8tv, but I used to watch it a few years ago when Latte@8 was still not banned by Malaysian censorship board for the nasty jokes that the host made about almost everything that went wrong in Malaysia as well as the ‘provocative’ issues that he brought up.

After years of being banned( I was told it’s banned), Media Prima finally manage to get it unbanned somehow, and the show made it’s appearance on the idiot box once again about three weeks ago, with the same host, and same location, which is Starbucks in Sunway Pyramid. And so, being an avid viewer of this particular talk show, I made an effort to watch it on the bloody idiot box over a cup of tea every Friday night to laugh at some lame jokes cooked up by the host or endure the vanity that’s obviously displayed by some of the guest.

Last Friday, my other half who was a fan of this talk show, dragged me to Sunway Pyramid to watch the show live despite of my constant threatening that if he bring me there to watch it live, he won’t be able to live long enough see the next sunrise. (LOL….that’s what you get when you disrupt my well needed sleep). Despite of my refusal, I followed him reluctantly. And so , to cut long story short, we arrived just in time to see the show. I had thought that I would jump for joy if I were to watch it live a few years ago, but boy, I was wrong. It’s not as interesting as watching it on tv.

Overall, I can’t say that Latte@8 was as good as what it used to be before the show was halted as a result of the ban. Though I found that the show is still funny with the jokes and all, I found that the host have more restrain on the issues that he brought up. And he has gone way much kinder on his constructive criticism towards his guests. I’m not sure why, but it must be he was told to keep the show as mild as possible in order to avoid ban being imposed on the show again.

I found 3rd episode of Latte@8 was practically boring and not really worth to watch. Not because of the host, but the guests. The first guest was the second Malaysian astronaut, Capt Dr Faiz bin Khaleed. He’s a serious man and as I watched the interview, I found that he’s also quite shy and modest. I find that interview quite acceptable and quite informative as he tried to give the viewers a picture of his not so common career.

The second guest was Kenny Sia, a self proclaim no.1 blogger in Malaysia. (Eh, I thought Raja Petra was no.1 in Malaysia and way more famous than Kenny Sia? Even the government tried to get rid of him!) As I sit and watch the second interview, I struggled to stay awake. I’m not sure what sin I did in my past life that I’m forced to endure a ‘famous’ blogger who wears a fluorescent sissy pink shirt who is practically famous for his online sex scandal boasts and brag about how good he in in blogging industry with no shame at all. Even Jason Lo, the host made a sarcastic remark on how ‘modest’ he was.

Seriously, it’s not just the jiggly bits that the so called no.1 blogger in Malaysia need to shed away. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I think I’d be more interested in the interview if the blogger in question was one of my regular visitor here. (yea, that’s you all la…those inside my blogroll. LOL)

Anyway, as Jason Lo tried to dig Kenny Sia’s ‘dirty little secrets’ on how his girlfriend ‘cope’ with his ‘blogging activities with other famous female bloggers’, I found myself yawning and standing up to get a dose of those expensive caffeine that’s sold in Starbucks. (fuck it la, go all the way to Sunway Pyramid just to drink expensive coffee…waste petrol la!) When i returned from buying a glass of ice blended mocha, I found my other half chuckling at me, and we get engage in a conversation similar to this:

Him: Honey, why buy this? Later get migraine den you know arr! You where can take caffeine wan?

Me: I’m already having migraine with all those bragging that Kenny Sia is doing. So, what the heck la… Why can’t they jut invite the goddamn Raja Petra or Jeff Ooi or Mahathir? They’re also blogger what? Famous oso!

Him: Maybe they’re afraid government kacau?

Me: Maybe…sweetheart, why you think so many female bloggers like him? So many sex scandal about him leh! So chubby, not handsome, short summore, talk so many lame jokes, not modest….sien nia! Not handsome never mind, but abit cocky lah! I saw a few HAWT and sexy girls swarming around him before his turn to be interviewed! He’s really not my type, I don’t understand why a lot of girls like him so much.

Him: Maybe because he’s famous and they want to ‘tumpang glamour’?

Me: Dunno la, maybe.

Him: Or maybe chubby, short and ‘soft’ guys who loves to wear pink is a symbol of masculinity these days. More ‘soft and fat’ more special? Girls these days are bored of tall and handsome guys who are ‘hard and stiff’?

Me: Walao, sweetheart, don’t talk dirty leh, later people here heard den how? Aiya, you sit here la, I lazy listen liao. I go snap a few picture.

And so, I went to snap some pictures. These are the pictures that I took last Friday. Bad quality due to the lighting as well as crowd factor.

Jason Lo interviewing Capt Dr Faiz bin Khaleed.

Jason Lo trying to dig out juicy details about Kenny Sia’s personal life. But get other answer instead.

Then there’s the crew who are responsible making the show successful. Watching them work is far more interesting than watching self-proclaim celebrity. The TV3/8tv crew was probably the only thing that stop me from dragging my other half to leave before the show end.( Actually we left before the show end. Cuz we both agreed that this particular episode was not as interesting as others).

Rina, a crew member of Latte@8, hard at work in ensuring that the show goes on smoothly. Originally, I thought she’s the producer of Latte@8, but later, she told me that the producer is actually hiding in the TV3 van by the site, commanding and giving orders to the crews by the control panel in the van.

The cameraman and the deejay for the show. (Omg, what’s with the cringing on the cameraman’s face?)

Free iced tea and coffee, sponsored by Starbucks Sunway Pyramid. I didn’t get to drink these free stuff. The cooler was already empty. LOL.

Free sandwiches provided by Starbucks Sunway Pyramid. And yea, yea, I took some to my table and eat em. I will never resist free food. After all, I did missed my dinner!

And last but not least, the only person that really caught my attention that day…a blogger who is also a regular commenter and visitor in my blog, u-jean. She happens to be there during the show too. A person that I really wanted to go up and talk to but did not do so for fear of getting the wrong person.

U-jean and her friend. She’s so immersed in whatever she’s doing with her Acer laptop.(issit Acer? I’m not so sure, let’s ask u-jean). u-jean was so immersed that she did not even notice that I was standing right in front of her and snap her picture with FLASH on. I really wonder if she even watch the Latte@8 show. It seems that whatever that is she’s doing is way more interesting than the show. LOL.

The only thing that I learn that day during my trip to Latte@8 show was that it’s not just the celebrity that makes the show successful, but it’s actually the people BEHIND the show. The crew who work their butt off to make sure the show was aired smoothly without interruption. My respect goes to everyone who are behind the scene who did a great job trying to make the show as interesting as possible on the idiot box. To me, watching a TV crew at work is far more interesting than ogling at the host or the ‘celebrity’. Real people, real things, never failed to amuse me.

Cleffairy:I wonder which blogger I’ll bump to on the street next? Ho ho ho ho…since I never put up my picture anywhere on the net, no one knows how I really look like. *wink* I might be standing in front of you guys and yet you guys dunno that it’s me. LOL.
