Dive in with ‘The Deepest Breath’: A Splashingly Fun Movie Night at Freediving Adventure Malaysia

Just last night, my fellow freediving enthusiasts and I embarked on an adventurous movie night at FAM-Freediving Adventure Malaysia.

With slices of pizzas in hand and anticipation in the air, we settled down to watch Netflix’s captivating documentary film, ‘The Deepest Breath.’

Guys, grab your snorkel and get ready to dive right in as I share our exhilarating experience during this fun-filled movie night!

When it comes to movies, there’s something uniquely exciting about watching one that centers around a shared passion. As freedivers, we were thrilled to discover ‘The Deepest Breath’ on Netflix. This film promised to immerse us in a world competitive freediving, heartwarming relationships, and adrenaline-fueled diving moments. Naturally, our expectations were high, and boy, did it deliver!

Nope. I won’t be giving you spoilers, but all I can say is from the very first dive in the movie, we found ourselves entranced with details. The scenes were so vivid and immersive, it felt as if we were freediving right alongside the divers.

‘The Deepest Breath,’ much like freediving itself, emphasized the importance of camaraderie. It shows us a journey of a group of divers who became tight-knit underwater family. Their friendship and support shone through as they navigated challenges, faced their fears, and celebrated successes together.

As freedivers ourselves, we resonated deeply with the movie’s depiction of the thrill and tranquility found beneath the surface. The film’s exploration of the physical and mental aspects of freediving reminded us why we fell in love with this sport in the first place. We left the movie night with ignited passion, eager to plan our next adventure and dive even deeper.

‘The Deepest Breath’ brought waves of excitement and joy to our freediving movie night. From the captivating scenes to the stunning underwater visuals, the film made for an unforgettable experience. Watching it alongside our fellow freedivers added a sense of community and enthusiasm that made the night even more special.

Whether you’re a seasoned freediver or simply curious about the sport, ‘The Deepest Breath’ is an absolute must-watch. So grab your dive buddies, cuddle up with some delicious pizza, and prepare to be submerged in this underwater adventure.

Here’s one for the album. I’m so grateful that FAM organized the fun movie night for us, and hopefully, there will be much more fun nights like this to come.

Charlotte Sands Viral Song ‘Dress’ Hits 35 Million Global Streams, On Your Beginning 9 September

The queen of angsty pop/rock, Charlotte Sands, isn’t afraid to speak or play loud.

Charlotte Sands is a young American musician who is mainly known for genre pop. She is also a lyricist who has stood out as truly newsworthy as of late after her tune Dress became famous online on TikTok in December 2020.

charlotte sands,

The queen of angsty pop/rock, Charlotte Sands, isn’t afraid to speak or play loud.

True indeed, in November of 2020, Sands leaked a song called “Dress” that she wrote about Harry Styles wearing a dress on the cover of Vogue.

Within hours, the song became an anthem of self expression for thousands, hitting 35 million global steams.

Now, with millions of listeners, “Dress” achieved even more exposure than at its initial release, and has been charting on the Pop and Hot AC Top 40 Radio in the US for 11 weeks.

It was also recently featured on Ryan Seacrest’s American Top 40 Countdown as well as SiriusXM’s Venus, The Pulse and Hits 1.

“Dress is a song about self expression and the confidence it takes to be your authentic self today’s society.

“We wrote this song hoping it would start more conversations about gender norms while also feeling like a celebration of each other’s differences. I hope when people listen they feel seen and I hope it gives them the boost of confidence to dress the way they want to and be the person that they are despite judgement or criticism. As an artist, I am so lucky I get to express myself everyday for a living and I think everyone deserves that freedom.” ,” says Charlotte.

To celebrate Dress’ continued success, Charlotte released a four song EP with different versions of the song, including a Dance remix with Avedon, an acoustic version, and a heavy version.

In May, Charlotte performed two of her biggest shows to date in the UK, headlining Camden Assembly in London and opening for My Chemical Romance at MK Stadium in Milton Keynes.

“This is the craziest day of my entire life,” said Charlotte to a crowd of 30,000 people.

“I am so, so, so grateful to get to do this as my job. I still can’t believe this is real. Thank you My Chemical Romance for having me, I’ll be watching your show from the back in absolute awe and pinching myself every 3 seconds,” she continued.

The prolific Nashville-based artist has also announced her first-ever national headlining tour dubbed the Love and Other Lies Tour, starting 9/6.

However, the electric blue haired singer/songwriter’s musical career didn’t start with the overnight success of a viral song.

At 18, she stole her mom’s car, found a roommate on Craigslist, and left her home in Hopkinton, MA for Nashville, TN, with a plan to take a year off of school before attending Berklee College of Music but she never went back.

Thereafter, she dropped 7 singles from her bedroom in lockdown.

Alternative Press named Sands one of “11 rising artists who fine-tuned their sound’ where else Spotify chose Charlotte for the cover of their year-end playlist, Fresh Finds: Best of Pop 2020 – her catalog amassing over 80 Million Global Streams.

In 2022, you can find Sands spending the majority of her time on tour, opening for artists like YUNGBLUD, My Chemical Romance, and The Maine, and headlining at Camden Assembly.

Sands’ personal mission to “create a safe space for people to feel accepted and celebrated for their weirdness and diversity” is something she takes seriously.

And as evident by the overwhelmingly positive comments that flood her social media, her fans take pride in championing her as they recognize how she champions them.

Gundala Movie Review

Gundala is an adaptation of the first comic book character in Indonesia by Harya “Hasmi” Suraminata published by Jagat Cinema in 1969. The comic has received a great deal of attention from comic lovers in Indonesia and has been published in 23 editions since 1982.

The movie tells the story of Sancaka who lived on the streets since he was a child after being abandoned by his parents. The hardships of life makes Sancaka often think about how he must endure to survive. As things get worse, Sancaka needs to choose to just protect himself or to become a hero to help the oppressed.

Starring Abimana Aryasatya, Tara Basro, Ario Bayu, Cecep Arif Rahman, Rio Dewanto and Muzakki Ramdhan and Malaysian actor Bront Palarae, the film was written and directed by the famous Indonesian director Joko Anwar. Gundala is co-produced by Screenplay Films and BumiLangit Studios, and distributed by Legacy Pictures. It is the first installment in the BumiLangit Cinematic Universe.

What I think about this movie:

The Bad

Plenty of violence against children, too much villains and not enough heroes. It’s really gory and reveals the dark side of politics with plenty of corruption around. For those who loves superheroes movies will find that this is terribly slow paced in the beginning, laced with loads of sub-plot that’s really confusing if you get a little sidetracked while watching the movie. Character development and growth should have been sped up a little faster. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend for young viewers and only great for those 18 years and above. This is not your regular family get-together movie.

The Good

Realistic and impressive hand-combat scene. Gundala does not use those overly pretty CGI too often, and therefore the combat scenes arereally satisfying to watch. Plenty of comic-relief filler and quite a few inspiring and memorable quotes.

Rating

I’d rate this a 3.5 star.

So far, Gundala has won three awards at the Indonesia Film Festival 2019 through the Best Director of Cinematography (Ical Tanjung), Best Visual Effects (Abby Eldipie) and Best Voice Actor (Santosa Artists, M. Ikhsan & Anhar Moha)

The movie will be screened in Malaysia on 26 December 2019 while the Gundala comic book will be on sale at selected MPH bookstores on the same date.

Fun Things to Do in Resorts World Genting: Watch Movies at Bona Cinema

Fancy some movie marathon with your loved ones? How about doing it up in the cloud at 6,000ft above sea level at Resorts World Genting?

image

Bona Cinemas at SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting has recently announced that they’ve added IMAX and Gold Class with D-BOX halls to its gilded cineplex and I decided to go for a little movie marathon to enjoy the latest movie in these awesome settings with the best of technology. It was an awesome experience, I assure you.

image

Watching movies in IMAX equipped hall is really engaging. IMAX technology, derived from the words Image Maximum, is widely considered the gold standard in motion picture immersion, able to capture images of greater size and resolution to bring even the smallest of details and sounds to life with a visceral punch.

image

If you’re to ask me how it’s like to watch movies in IMAX, I will have to say IMAX draws you into something as close to reality as you have ever experienced. I was informed that at IMAX equipped halls, two projectors run simultaneously to provide the perfect image with a balance of warmth and sharpness. My movie watching experience in IMAX includes immensely real explosion. Even whispers from the movies seems to come over my shoulder. The rumbling bass can be felt instead of heard. Every note of the soundtrack and every drop of pin seems to be clearer in IMAX. It really feels as if the cinema has been fully customized for an optimal experience.

image

Apart from that, if you are looking for an out of the world movie watching experience, you may also opt for Bona Cinemas’ Gold Class VIP seats with D-BOX technology.

image

A first in the Malaysian market, Bona Cinemas has combined the luxurious pleasure of Gold Class VIP seats with the dynamic D-BOX technology.

image

Each seat at the Gold Class hall with D-BOX is equipped with the D-BOX patented motion system with four levels of intensity control, which swivels and tilts on a two-axis configuration to truly bring the viewer into the thick of the action.

image

Combined with the latest Dolby Atmos audio system that wraps the audience with three-dimensional sound, the entire movie watching experience made me feel as if I am part of the scene – along for the ride in thrilling chase sequences and feeling the weight of every single impact, whether physical or emotional.

My movie marathon had never been more satisfying than watching the movies in IMAX and Gold Class in D-Box at Bona Cinemas. If I were to describe my overall experience, I must say that I went to another universe through those two halls. In my humble opinion, there is no better gateway into cinematic perfection in Malaysia than at Bona Cinemas in Resorts World Genting.

Bona Cinemas is located on Level 1 of SkyAvenue mall in Resorts World Genting. The cinema has a total of six halls, covering 38,848 square feet. All halls are equipped with the latest Dolby Atmos sound system for maximum cinematic immersion, and a wide variety of snacks are available at the concession stand.

Absolute Movie Enjoyment with IMAX and Gold Class with D-BOX at Bona Cinemas, Resorts World Genting

Those who are close to me knows that I’m quite a movie and a drama addict. I spent most of my leisure time glued in front of the PC streaming latest online dramas or in the cinemas catching up on new movies.

They are simply irresitible. How can they not be? The stories are not only riveting but the heroes are eye-candies as well. Some friends lectured me for my drama addictions and tendency to binge watching and movie marathon-ing but then again, what do they know? Watching dramas has always been my secret way to escape my stressful and depressing world a little. Sure, I may become emotionally invested in some dramas and get upset when they ended tragically at times, but they provided me joyful escapism nevertheless. Those dramas and movies that I watched transported me to another world for a little while, and distorted as it may sound to you, such escapism makes me feel really happy. You know, life can be so hard sometimes. And there are times I feel so miserable to the point that even smiling is really difficult, what more coercing a laughter out of me.

Dramas and movies has long became my way of escaping reality for a little while. They saved me from constantly feeling jaded and stopped me from sinking further into depression.

image

Anyway, speaking of watching movies and dramas to escape reality, I recently took my escapism to an entirely different level at Bona Cinemas in SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting. You see, Bona Cinemas at SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting has recently announced that they’ve added IMAX and Gold Class with D-BOX halls to its gilded cineplex and I decided to go for a little movie marathon to enjoy the latest movie in these awesome settings with the best of technology.

image

The movies of choice; the newly released Aquaman and Mortal Engine. I decided to experience Aquaman in IMAX while the Mortal Engines in Gold Class with DBox.

image

I have to apologize if you’re expecting some spoilers or tidbits from the two movies as I won’t be reviewing about them here in this post. I’ll be telling you what I think of these two movies in other posts. What I want to share with you is the actual movie-watching experience at Bona Cinemas SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting.

Watching movies in IMAX equipped hall is really engaging. IMAX technology, derived from the words Image Maximum, is widely considered the gold standard in motion picture immersion, able to capture images of greater size and resolution to bring even the smallest of details and sounds to life with a visceral punch. Every note of the soundtrack and every drop of pin seems to be clearer in IMAX. It really feels as if the cinema has been fully customized for an optimal experience.

Equally impressive is the cinema’s Gold Class with D-BOX hall that seats up to 48 viewers.

A first in the Malaysian market, Bona Cinemas has combined the luxurious pleasure of Gold Class VIP seats with the dynamic D-BOX technology.

Each seat at the Gold Class hall with D-BOX is equipped with the D-BOX patented motion system with four levels of intensity control, which swivels and tilts on a two-axis configuration to truly bring the viewer into the thick of the action. Enter The World of Star Wars at The VOID in Resorts World Genting

Luke Skywalker. Han Solo. Princess Leia. Padme Amidala. Anakin Skywalker. Master Yoda. Darth Vader. Does these names means anything to you? They are famous characters from the sci-fi franchise; the Star Wars. I grew up watching these characters on silverscreen and revered them like gods. I have soft spot for antagonists and I remember having a huge crush on Anakin Skywalker a.k.a Darth Vader and spent quite a portion of my my growing up years fantasizing fighting side by side with Anakin Skywalker using lightsabers and blasters and rule by his side as the Empress of The Galaxy. Funny how other Star Wars fans picked the bright side of the Force and be Jedis but all I fantasized about is to be at the Dark Side and be a Darth.

image

I wanted to be the most feared female Darth ever. I guess I’m really a bad girl deep inside. It’s all but whimsical fantasy, but little did I know that imaginations takes us everywhere. It’s especially true where Star Wars is concerned at least, as fans from all over the world can now play Star Wars’ characters through a virtual reality experience at The VOID, Resorts World Genting.

image

Opening on 6th December 2018 at the Skytropolis Funland, Resorts World Genting and The VOID is bringing the first-of-its-kind hyper-reality experience, Star WarsTM: Secrets of the Empire created in collaboration with ILMxLAB.

image

I won’t be able to really show you how it’s like playing Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire as during my visit, no forms of photography or videography is allowed in The VOID facility and players are required to store all of their belongings in the locker provided, but I can tell you that the experience is definitely out of this world. Players are required to suit up with a special kind of backpack and helmet that will enable us to enter the virtual world.

image

The virtual reality game; Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire brings virtual reality players directly into the Star Wars universe on the lava planet Mustafar. Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire game at The VOID requires you to take on the game mission in team for best experience. A team of 3 or 4 is considered ideal. Under the orders of the budding rebellion, your team will travel to the molten planet of Mustafar. The mission is to recover Imperial intelligence that’s vital to the rebellion’s survival. Basically, you’re going to be on the bright side of the Force. You’ll be playing a Rebel. Alongside the Droid K-2S0, your team must navigate through an enemy facility disguised as stormtroopers.

image

Once you put on the virtual reality helmet, you and your will be ‘transformed’ into a Stormtrooper. The helmet functions as a communication device with your team as well. Once inside the enemy’s facility, you’ll need to grab a blaster, solve puzzles, and fight giant lava monsters in an effort to accomplish the mission.

Using cutting-edge technology, players will be able to hear, feel, touch and even smell throughout the enture game. The game is actually a perfect blend of virtual and physical world. Ticket sales for Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire are now available for pre-order starting from November 30th 2018 at RM130 each.

Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire game by The VOID is definitely something you would like to try if you are an avid gamer or a virtual reality player. Great for family but I will advice against allowing children below 10 years old to participate in the game as the equipments are quite heavy and it requires swift hand-eye-body coordination and quite a lot of physical movements that young children might not be able to follow.

The VOID at Resorts World Genting will be its first location in Asia. It is set to be one of the must-visit attractions at the resort.
