The New Apple iPhone 5

Do you love apples? You know, not the fruit apples, but the gadget Apples? Well, I’m not an apple fangirl, but I do keep a tab on their news, as I find it pretty amusing how they managed to make people go goo goo ga ga over their gadgets, and how they managed to drive millions of people crazy during their product launch.

If you’re an Apple, you might wanna check this out…the New iPhone5. It was just launched a few hours ago, as of writing:

Sleek design… with just 7.6mm thin

According to it’s creator, this new iPhone 5 lets you see more…and puts the world in a better perspective.

And according to them, while this phone is powerful, it’s quite not power consuming. How true is that? I will never know, as I’ve never own any of the iPhone relatives, and this new family member of their is definitely not within my budget range.

Anyway, here’s the comparison between iPhone and it’s competitors:

Cleffairy: Anyone wanna let me try this and change my mind that Samsung is better than Apple? 😛

Sgrouples: An Online Privacy Revolution

Social media platform like Facebook has been a part of my daily life and I’ve been using it not only for personal interaction with family and friends, but also to keep in touch with my business connection as well. In other words, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and whatnot is an important part of my life and I cannot imagine my life without them. I would probably feel helpless and socially disconnected if I don’t use them at least once a day.

Social network is important to me, and I am sure that it is the same with anyone who is IT literate these days.

A couple of days ago, I heard some news that Facebook is acquiring facial recognition technology soon; which will require you to use webcam and whatnot just so that you can login into your Facebook account. This will bring a new, literal meaning to Facebook where you use your face for everything, and as a person who guarded her privacy closely, I do not appreciate the fact that my face will be saved up somewhere in the server for various purpose. In case of the breach of privacy, I could easily be exposed to identity theft and not to mention illegal profiling.

Seriously speaking, I think I would be more comfortable using social media platform like sgrouples that not only guarantee my privacy, but offers truly private group and social networks as well.

With sgrouples, you definitely do not have to worry about the breach of privacy and unnecessary exposure towards identity theft and whatnot.

The controlled cyber environment is completely private and safe. It’s great for social sharing as whatever you content you share and posted there belongs completely to you.

I highly recommend social media users, especially those with families and kids to use this particular social media platform to stay connected and keep in touch with one another. The environment is not cluttered, and sharing as well communicating is also simplified for a better user experience. There is definitely no spying, no tracking and not stalking in sgrouples.

Signing up is easy, and the layout is user-friendly and pretty easy to navigate, even for beginners. You may not only access it from your PC, but you may download its apps from Google Play and App Store too if you’re a smartphone user.

Sign up for sgrouples and join the rest in the online privacy revolution today. You won’t regret it, I assure you.

Breaking Fast with the new Sony Cybershot

Last week, I was invited to break fast with Sony Malaysia, in conjunction of their newly launched Cybershot.

The event was held in Eco Bar. It was really a laid back place

A few minutes before breaking fast…

There was a modest spread prepared for us

Some exotic Greek-style tomato rice, my personal favourite that night…

The usual pasta

Some creamy roasted chicken

Along with some fried fish fillets

Stuffed roasted tomatoes topped generously with cheese

Cakes and pastries as desserts

Along with assorted puddings

And cut fruits…

Now, the breaking fast spread was marvellous, but it was not the main attraction of the day, so I won’t be elaborating on the food. The main attraction of the day was the Cyber-shotâ„¢ RX100.

Bloggers were divided into a group of four to have a hands on experience on the new camera.

Looks just like any other digital camera, no?

Yes… it looks like just any other ordinary digital camera, with LCD screen and all that. But don’t underestimate this small thing…the quality is almost as good as DSLR camera.

At the heart of the Cyber-shot™ RX100 is the world’s first1 1.0-type Exmor CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.2 effective megapixels. Specially developed by Sony, the sensor has an area that’s around four times larger than the 1/2.3-type imager in regular point-and-shoot cameras. Capturing far more light than small-sensor cameras, it’s the key to beautiful, detail packed images and Full HD movie clips with very low noise.

The larger sensor is partnered with an ultra-bright Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with 3.6x optical zoom range. In contrast with standard point-and-shoot cameras, the wide F1.8 maximum aperture lets in more light to complement the resolving power of the large 1.0-type Exmor CMOS sensor.

In common with high-performance DSLR optics, the lens features seven- bladed circular aperture. This makes it easy to produce pro-style ‘bokeh’ effects, with subjects in sharp focus against a smoothly-blurred background. The lens also features an Advanced Aspherical (AA) glass element that contributes to the camera’s extremely compact dimensions without sacrificing optical performance or resolution.

Complementing the 1.0-type sensor and lens, the optimised BIONZ image processor maximises shooting responses while assuring exceptionally clean, natural images. It also extends sensitivity right up to ISO 256002 (using Multi Frame Noise Reduction), allowing exceptionally clear handheld images in dim light. Speedy burst shooting at up to 10 frames per second (full-resolution) lets you grab split-second photo opportunities, while high-speed autofocus locks onto your target in as little as 0.13 seconds1.

Even if you’re shooting outdoors, it’s easy to see subtle details and tones on the bright, high contrast 7.5cm (3″) Xtra Fine LCD. With an extremely high 1229k dot resolution, the screen debuts new WhiteMagicâ„¢2 technology that uses white pixels in addition to RGB to boost screen brightness.

It’s easy to fine-tune your image with a wide range of manual adjustments, whether you’re shooting stills or Full HD video.

Experienced photo enthusiasts will appreciate the unique Control Ring that surrounds the lens body. Allowing smooth, fingertip adjustment of exposure, zoom, Picture Effect and other functions, it makes versatile DSLR-style creative control over your image easily accessible. Frequently-used functions can be assigned to a handy Fn (function) button for instant access. Memory Recall stores up to three groups of settings for instant recall – a big time-saver when you don’t want to keep adjusting parameters for favourite scenes.

Just like a DSLR camera, there’s a choice of auto and manual focus modes for even greater control over your image. If you’re focusing manually, MF Assist magnifies your image to simplify fine adjustments. There’s also a convenient Peaking function that highlights sharply-focused areas of the image on screen.

There’s a generous choice of artistic options to expand shooting possibilities for enthusiasts and novice photographers alike. It’s easy to fine-tune the look of your image with a choice of six Creative Styles to suit the scene or your personal preference. Picture Effect offers an inspiring choice of ‘in camera’ effects that can be previewed on the LCD screen, including Toy Camera, Partial Colour, Pop Colour, HDR Painting, Miniature, Illustration, Watercolour and other (Note: real-time preview not available with all Picture Effect settings).

Shared with the latest α range of A-mount and E-mount cameras, Auto Portrait Framing makes it simple to capture personality-packed photos of family and friends. Cyber-shot™ does all the hard work, automatically detecting faces and cropping the scene to create tighter, pro-style compositions without sacrificing pixel count.

Pretty cool for a mini camera, huh? I must say that it’s really cool and those who prefers to travel light would appreciate this camera.

It’s rechargeable battery features a slim, energy-efficient design to allow up to 330 still shots or 80 mins AVCHD video shooting per charge. Exclusively designed to match the camera, the LCJ-RXA is a stylish ‘jacket style’ carry case with an attractive leather-look textured finish and supplied shoulder strap. Attaching securely to the camera, the case opens to allow easy shooting while you’re on the move. Awesome for backpackers and globetrotters.

The new Cyber-shotâ„¢ RX100 digital compact camera from Sony will be available in Malaysia from early August 2012 with the price range of RM2,400++

Are you interested in getting one for yourself? I’m certainly interested, but I’m not quite sure if my savings will allow that. 🙁

Cleffairy: Do take note that this camera does not have a touch screen function. You might want to get a hands on experience and play around with it first before purchasing this…

Introducing Ricoh Laser Printers

Do you print things, dear readers? I don’t know if you do print out for your documents or not, but I certainly do. I print out quite a lot of things, including soft copies of my novel manuscripts, my students’ exercise sheets, my assignments, promo vouchers and coupons and many more. (Yes, yes, I do print out the softcopy of my novel manuscripts before my publishers does. I’m vain, deal with it. 😛 And yes, I do print out those freebies coupons on vouchers. I can’t help it. They are irresistible!)

It’s really hard for me to get a good printer that lasts really long, so I was really glad that I was recently introduced to one of the leading printer brand in Malaysia, Ricoh.

Ricoh is one of the world’s leading suppliers of office automation equipment, including copiers, facsimile machines, data processing systems, and related supplies. Ricoh is also renowned for its state-of-the-art electronic devices and photographic equipment, and recently, Ricoh Malaysia has just launched its 1st Black and White Compact Laser Printers, i.e. Aficioâ„¢ SP 100 e Series Printers.

There are three models in this series, i.e.

  • SP 100 e
  • SP 100SU e
  • SP 100SF e

New Printers Feature

Ricoh Aficioâ„¢ SP 100 e

Ricoh Aficioâ„¢ SP 100 e

           Ricoh Aficio™ SP 100SU e

Ricoh Aficioâ„¢ SP 100SU e

Ricoh Aficioâ„¢ SP 100SF e

Ricoh Aficioâ„¢ SP 100SF e
Here’s a little bit about the printers above. SP 100 e – RM 299 A4 mono laser printer ideal for personal use whileSP 100SU e and SP 100 SF e – RM 499 and RM 669 Multi Function Printers providing small businesses the option of keeping overheads low.

These printers are pretty stylish, I must say.  Its’compact design frees up valuable space on your desk, and it’s certainly suitable for those  limited space. I would highly recommend this for students and entrepreneurs as these printers can can placed on a desktop, shop counter or open shelf.

Those who are in business line would find this device is highly mobile too as  it can easily be brought to conferences or meeting rooms to provide access to print, copy and scan functionality. These portable devices can be placed in a carrier bag and transported around to wherever their versatile functionality is required.

Apart from being mobile, these printers are also productive. Print speeds up to 13ppm A4 with 16MB memory (SP 100 e and SP 100SU e) / 32MB memory (SP 100SF e), and it also prints up to 1,200 x 600 dpi resolution.

All models come with the starter AIO (All-In-One) cartridge which are easy to maintain and replace.  They’re have simple and fast USB connectivity with full front operation and machine access for easy paper jam removal. The printers are also designed for easy cartridges change as well, so you don’t have to worry about changing cartridges whenever the printers is out of cartridges.

These robust and durable devices have an impressive unit life of 50,000 prints, and the best part of all is that these printers is idiot proof for those who are not exactly techie literate.  The setup time is reduced as you can plug the device into the USB slot of the host computer and be used within minutes. Yes. It’s a plug and play device.

One thing that I like about these printing devices is that they are environmentally friendly. They are devices without the ID chip and has been designed with the industry-first toner refilling option—a feature that also reduces costs. These Ricoh printers have energy-saving mode and  uses as little as 5 W or less. Absolutely great to use if you want to reduce your electric bills.

The manual duplex printing  has the ability to print recycled paper. Great way to reduce the usage of paper, don’t you think?

Wanna chat with me? Use WeChat!

Are you a smartphone user? Well, I am a smartphone user, and I’m pretty much dependent on my smartphone. I not only use my smartphone to communicate with my family, friends, and loved ones, but I also use my smartphone to do my work…you know, read email, reply emails, blogging through the phone, write my novels by using the phone and not to mention read ebooks by using my smartphone.

In other words, smartphone is really an important device to me. I can never leave home without it. It’s not just a tool to communicate, but it’s practically my mobile office.

There’s plenty of free apps available for my Android phone that will enable me to communicate with my loved ones for free, and being a cheap skate, I’ve installed quite a few of them in my phone so that I can test out which one of those apps suits me best.

I recently discovered that there’s this particular apps known as WeChat.

It’s a fun smartphone apps that enables the user to communicate with one another for free. This apps originates from China, and was recently launched in Zouk, Malaysia in a glamorous event.

More than 200 bloggers and members of the media were invited to the event. 😀

For those who are unfamiliar with this apps… I can assure you that it’s a fun new way to communicate with your family and friends…and it’s also a very good tool to make new friends.

I’ve just installed it in my phone and I’m having so much fun with it already.

Signing up to WeChat is quite a straight forward process where you’re required to verify yourself with your phone number. You can also use your Facebook account to login to WeChat.

WeChat offers quite a few interesting feature apart from the usual text messaging, hold to talk voice messaging, photo/video sharing and broadcast messaging. Among them is:

  • Look around
  • Shake
  • Drift Bottle
  • Scan QR Code

The add friend feature on WeChat is pretty simple. You not only import contacts from your phonebook, but you also can also add Facebook friends who are already using WeChat into your contact list.

You don’t have to worry about privacy on WeChat because all of your datas are encrypted and you get choose who can add you and who you want to befriend with. 😀

WeChat feature is pretty cool, I must say. You can lightly bump phones to add WeChat users to your contact.Awesome, isn’t it? You don’t have to key in contact. Just lightly bump the phone, and the contacts will be saved. 😀 And if you wanna exchange each other’s contact, just shake the phone, and it will be done! Apart from that, you can also scan QR code to add contacts into your phone.

Remote shake on the other hand, allows you to make new friends with strangers who are shaking the phone at the same time as you.

Feeling a little emotional, melancholic and needs to talk to someone who will actually listens instead of judging you? No fret, there’s ‘Drift Bottle’ function.

You may write a message in the ‘virtual bottle’  seal it up and drift it into the sea. If you’re lucky, someone, somewhere in the world who is using WeChat may pick it up and make a connection with you. 😀 Good way to not only make friends, but also de-stress don’t you think?

Of course, the drift function works both ways. You may also pick up someone elses’s bottle and make acquintance with them too.

Interested in trying this apps out? WeChat is free to download and is available on various phone platforms.

So be sure to check out your phone and download from your respective app shop, and don’t forget to like WeChat Malaysia Fb Page to get exciting news and updates on WeChat Malaysia. 😀

Cool Things about Facebook

Everyone’s favorite social network recently got a facelift. The new Facebook includes several new features, including the Timeline structure. While users can still currently use the old wall, Timeline is quickly becoming the norm. Here’s what you need to know about the revised Facebook:

  • The Timeline – Overall, Timeline has proven to be a lot more pleasing to users than Facebook’s last big rollout, the News Feed. There are likely a few reasons for this greater acceptance. While the Timeline makes it a bit easier to peer into the lives of your friends, it seems social network users are more comfortable with opening up online these days. The Timeline itself is a cool feature which was has worked fairly seamlessly since it arrived. From a business angle, Facebook’s constant evolution makes sense; on the Internet, excitement is practically a prerequisite of success.
What’s cool about Timeline? It presents information in a much more visually stimulating way. Instead of a single column of recent wall posts, there are two columns of information. In these columns, similar events are aggregated and others are highlighted. This makes it easier for you to curate your profile to reflect where you’ve been and what you’re into. It changes the profile from a pure communication tool into a more comprehensive online journal.
  • Social Apps – New applications have also been added that are designed to leverage the social nature of Facebook (rather than games or quizzes which you complete by yourself). For example, Netflix and the music streaming service Spotify have recently added Facebook apps. These allow you to see what your friends are listening to and watching and can help you discover new media or other things which are interesting to you. From an Internet marketing standpoint, this is genius, as it allows users to incorporate brands into their online lives. If you’re interested in the nuts and bolts of Internet marketing, consider getting a marketing degree online.
  • Life Events and Place Tags – Part of the transition from the wall to Timeline has been the creation of life events and place tags. Life events are a way to add momentous occasions to your profile, such as moving, traveling or getting married. You can tag friends or loved ones in your life events and the event will also show up on their profile. Place tags have been around for a while, but they are now integrated into Timeline. Along with your photo albums and “Likes,” users can click on a map which shows all the place tags you have added to your profile.

iPad? Good Lord, let’s just buy Kotex!

Went to window shop with my dad earlier, and he wanted to buy me an iPad as a Christmas present because I’ve been prattling about wanting an ebook reader since God knows when. But then… I discovered that an iPad have a lot of disadvantages and not worth the money, and therefore, I told my dad not to bother to buy me one as I could buy a powerful gaming system with that disgusting amount of money.

Here’s iPad’s disadvantages…

* Flash is not supported, so you won’t be able to watch most online videos or play online games. (Yes, folks… you can’t watch most porn movies too, so if you’re buying an iPad for this explicit purpose, you’ll get slightly frustrated)

* No USB support. You can’t connect your a PC keyboard, USB flash drive, USB hard disk, USB headset, wireless USB modem. (well you actually can a USB port, but you need an adapter… oh, what the hell!)

* No built-in card readers. Want to transfer your pictures of videos from your digital camera? You will need to buy a couple of adapters from Apple then. (yippie, more money for the seller?)

* No camera

Want to use your Instant Messenger with a web-cam… definitely not on Apple iPad.

* iPhone OS

Although you may enjoy multi-touch and applications for Apple iPhone, you can’t use most programs, because they work in Windows, Mac OS or Linux.

* No remote administration

* No multi-tasking. iPhone OS on Apple iPad works the same way as on Apple iPhone

* iPad allows to read ebooks…. but it doesn’t use eInk screen, so the feature doesn’t have much sense, as there’s glare and you’d strain your eyes.

* No HDMI

* No CD/DVD/Blu-Ray.

* Wi-Fi is not stable on many iPads.

* You need to hold iPad in your hands when watching videos (uh…that’s not so relaxing, isn’t it?)

Well, of course there’s advantage of using an iPad. You can actually show off that you got a disgustingly expensive gadget with you since it’s expensive and chic (can still show off even if you don’t actually know how to use it… that stuff is a babe magnet….)

Cleffairy: Does owning a DSLR camera makes you a photographer? Well, the answer is no. If you lack the skill to capture good pictures with a DSLR camera that you bought… that makes you not a photographer or a photo-blogger, but merely a camera owner.

ps:  Have a merry  and blessed Christmas, folks. I’d be busy for my book launch for a couple of days. 😀

Fella, Felli and Everyone Connects turns 1

Everyone Connects

Do you know what the pair of cartoon in the picture are? Well, most of you may not know this, but they’re Paper Felli and Paper Fella, the mascot of Everyone Connects, A product by TM Malaysia.

Paperman

Do you remember that last year, a mysterious song named ‘Through My Window’ was aired on various media. Nobody knew who the singer was and the song became quite a rage among the youngsters in Malaysia?

It was revealed later that the song was sung by Bunkface, a local boyband in order to promote Everyone Connects campaign. I’m not a fan of local bands… I can be very selective when it comes to listening to the local artists, but I found that Bunkface’s song ‘Through My Window’ is very catchy. Click the vid below to listen to ‘Through My Window’

I could still remember the massive street party last year where everyone sings ‘Through My Window’ during the Everyone Connects campaign by TM.

How time flies. It’s been one year already. Everyone Connects is now one year old.

And Everyone Connects has improved so much since the first time it has been introduced to the public.

TM surely have a way in promoting their products among the youngsters. Everyone Connects’ website is truly cute and amazing. It’s just like a Facebook game. It’s a flash based website, and upon entering the website, you can choose to be either to be the Fella or Felli and explore the website that’s full of infos about TM’s latest news, current promos and contests.

And apart from having the latest information about the latest TM product on the website, you can also interact with your friends who is also checking out the website at the same time via chat. Everyone Connects is very cute and attractive campaign by TM.

One thing that’s interesting about The Everyone Connects World is that when you visit it at night, the background will show the night scene instead of the usual daytime scene. That is just so cool!

Every Connects just celebrated their 1st year anniversary not long ago in the Curve. And the party was huge!

The People

Just look at the sea of people dancing and singing along to ‘Through My Window’
The People

I wouldn’t be able to breathe in there. LOL!
Bunkface!
And what is Everyone Connects without Bunkface and their ‘Through My Window’?

Well, TM has certainly outdone themselves in Everyone Connects campaign. It certainly gets my attention… I simply adore the way they relay information during the Everyone Connects campaign. And paper Fella and Paper Felli is just adorable.
