Any smartphone users here? I bet there are plenty. I’m a smartphone user myself. I’m using a smartphone running on android OS, and it has served me very well for the past few years. I’m a big Android fan as it gives me the freedom to customize and tweak the phone according to my usage, but I’m not averse to trying out smartphones with other operating system. And speaking of other phones with other operating system it reminds me that BlackBerry® recently introduced the new BlackBerry® Z30 smartphone.
It’s BlackBerry’s biggest, fastest and most advanced smartphone yet. Featuring BlackBerry® 10 OS version 10.2, the new all-touch BlackBerry Z30 smartphone comes with a beautiful 5†display and the largest battery yet on a BlackBerry smartphone.

Cleffairy: I’m an Android fan, but neutrally accepting to other phones and OS.
Are you a Ninetology user? I’m not sure if you are, but I’m a Ninetology user. I’ve featured about this brand for quite a few times now, in case you haven’t noticed. I’ve always recommended Ninetology whenever someone wants to buy a smartphone but does not have a very high budget for it. Ninetology line of smartphones usually have good specs, but within reasonable price tags.
Yups, Ninetology smartphones and tablets are good, but since it is still fairly new in Malaysian market in comparison to giant brands, there’s not much place where you can buy them or see them on showcase. I always find myself disappointed whenever Ninetology launches a new phone. The shop nearby home here is pretty much biased and it is quite rare for me to see any newly launched Ninetology smartphones on display. I have to wait quite awhile for that and it’s such a shame, cuz after being a user for Ninetology Pallette for quite some time, I’m positively a Ninetology fan.
But lucky me, it’s all about to change. 😀 In conjunction with Malaysia’s 56th Independence Day, Ninetology Malaysia has officially launched its Flagship Touch Point in Plaza Low Yat, Malaysia’s Largest IT Lifestyle Mall, on 30 August 2013. 😀
Pic: A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to launch the first Flagship Touch Point. Gracing the ceremony were the management team of Ninetology Malaysia comprising of Sean Ng (Chief Executive Officer), Marco Beh (Chief Operations Officer), Shian (Chief Finance Officer), Vijian Chan (Chief Marketing Officer), and Eddy Tay (Head of Channel); Michael Lee (General Manager, Property Management and Operations of Plaza Low Yat), and celebrities such as Z-Chen, Iqwal Hafiz, and Sasi the Don.
So you ask me…what’s so exciting about just another service centre? Well, Flagship Touch Point is not just another service centre, mind you. With a concept like no other, Ninetology’s Flagship Touch Point offers consumers an experiential touch point for today’s lifestyles and culture as well as a product showcase.
Do you know what that means? Yes… that means you get to see all Ninetology products on showcase and have a hands on experience whenever you feel like it. At the Flagship Touch Point, not only would the Ninetology products be showcased, it’s a place where consumers can learn how to use a smartphone to enhance their lifestyles and interests. That’s pretty cool, don’t you think? The flagship Touch Point will serve as a youth and culture training hub to spread the urbanite culture that is cultivated by Ninetology. Imagine this: going there to learn how to use your Ninetology phone to produce a mini movie. 😛 Now that’s a thought, ain’t it? You might be the next Youtube star sensation…*grinz*
I seriously think it’s an awesome concept; to engage youth with various activities that will help them to maximize their potential and perk up their lifestyles in the most positive way possible. The Ninetology smartphones are not just communication tools, but it is a device that can advance one’s social visibility, thus opening doors to more opportunities. This is definitely something that’s out of the box. 😀
Interested to check it out? Well, I’m certainly interested to hop over there and check out what the Flagship Touchpoint have to offer. Who knows… I can be the next Youtube star sensation just by using my Ninetogy smartphones. 😛 You’ll never know.
The Ninetology’s Flagship Touch Point is opened from 10.00am to 10.00pm daily and eight more Flagship Touch Points within the Klang Valley will be opened this year with another nine outlets scheduled within Malaysia by next year.
Neway let’s put the Flagship Touch Point aside for awhile. Here’s a bit of a newsflash for you, in case you’ve missed my previous posts on Ninetology smartphone reviews.
Earlier last month, Ninetology Malaysia has launched their U9 series at KL Hilton Hotel, Malaysia. The “Unite-as-One†power-infused technology with the urbanite profile was presented in three models: The X1, Z1, and Z1+, which are new and stylish devices engineered to meet the human needs of speed, precision and high levels of engagement. They’re pretty awesome smartphone lineup, I can assure you.
You can search about it in my blog (I’ve made an audio review about it) or get more information on Ninetology U9 smartphones, HERE:Â www.ninetology.com/u9
Check out the babes…bombastic, aren’t they? I’m talking about the smartphones, of course, not the pretty ladies.
Pic: Mr. Arthur Wang, Senior Director, Head of EMSM, Mediatek Inc. receiving the Certificate of Appreciation from Mr. Sean Ng, CEO of Ninetology Marketing Sdn. Bhd.
The U9 series smart phones with 16GB ROM/1GB RAM of internal memory are ideal for viewing videos, playing games and other content with super-fast connectivity, are powered by Android 4.2 and a MediaTek MT6589 1.2GHz Quad-core processor, in which would deliver a richer smart phone experience at a competitive price.
With these smartphones, users can enjoy access to more than thousands of applications including social network, productivity and utilities, entertainment, and appstore. They have display screens of 4.8†(X1), 5.7†(Z1) and 5.5†(Z1+) respectively. They are slim and light and would be a stylish and durable companion for upbeat lifestyles. (Please click on the thumbnail below for a larger view on the specifications)
At the launch, Ninetology also revealed their newly appointed Product Spokesperson, Z-Chen, a Malaysian Mandopop singer, also fondly known as the R&B Little Prince. Familiar with him? He’s been in the Mando-pop industry quite awhile now. He’s quite a handsome bloke. So do check out the video where he vouch for Ninetology smartphones quality.
With the U9 series, there are unlimited possibilities to enrich my lifestyle and illuminate unique personality, work and music.
Be a Top Notch
Larger Than Life

Hear ye, hear ye, geeks and Android fans! Kit Kat will be the name of the next version of Android. Android head Sundar Pichai announced the name of the next version of Android. It will be called KitKat
The next version of the operating system, Android 4.4 won’t be named Key Lime Pie, as rumored, it will be called or codenamed Kit Kat. Google has worked with Nestle and Hershey, the makers of the chocolatey and crunchy candy bar, to go even further. Nestle will make a number of Android-themed Kit Kat bars. Awesome!
Cleffairy: Ohhhh, yummy! I can’t wait to have a piece of Kit Kat phone. 😛
Parents, when was the last time you bring your kids to the playground? Or a funfair for a pure unadulterated outdoor fun?
It’s been awhile for me.
The last time I really brought my son for a REAL outdoor fun was a few months back, somewhere in April 2013. The pictures above were taken during a picnic hosted by Expat Lifestyle where families were invited for an outdoor picnic. Sorting through the pictures definitely gives me guilt. I mean, my kid is cooped up indoors most of the time and hardly have any fun in the sun. 🙁 Unlike me, his childhood is pretty boring. His entertainment comes mainly from the idiot box or the laptop or my smartphone! Yes, I do allow my son to play with my smartphone, occasionally. To keep him occupied when I desperately need to get things done without interruptions. Guilty as charged. 😛
To be honest, it’s not exactly the kind of childhood that I envision for my son. When I was a little girl, I’m allowed to play outdoors daily…without adult supervision. And my toys are definitely not iPad or tablet PCs. The closest thing that I had to a tablet or a ‘smartphone’ is this.
Are you familiar with these? I’m sure those who were born in 70s, 80s or even the 90s are familiar with these. These are tin can telephone. A tin can telephone is a type of acoustic, non-electrical, speech-transmitting device made up of two tin cans, paper cups or similarly shaped items attached to either end of a taut string or wire. It is a form of mechanical telephony, where sound is converted into and then conveyed by vibrations along a liquid or solid medium, and then reconverted back to sound. It’s a item commonly used in preschools and elementary schools to teach children about sound vibration, but my son was not exactly impressed with this tin can telephone he made in school, not when he is more used to something more hip, trendy and hi-tech like my Android smartphone.
His logic: Why play with these tin can telephone when you can skype and make video calls via tablet or smartphones? 🙁 Tsk. I guess I’m getting really old. When I was a little girl, there was no such thing as tablets or smartphones as toys or entertainment outlet. We played outside the good old ways and get dirty. But I guess it’s different now. Time changes and youngsters are getting hippier, trendier and tech alert with each passing days.
And speaking of hip and trendy, it reminds me of an event that I attended with my son quite some time ago in the end of July in KL Hilton. I brought my son along with me to the Ninetology Urbanite Blogger Gathering that night.
Bloggers were brought together to witness the showcase of Ninetology new premium line of smartphones.
The event was made possible by Ninetology, of course, and thanks to the lovely Ms. Rebecca Saw of Rogue Communication who sent me the invite for the Urbanite Blogger Gathering, my son and I had fun not only with the new line of Ninetology smartphone, but get to have fun with this big kitty cat too. 😛 Say hello… I mean MEOWWW to the big kitty, ladies. Ain’t he cute? Wonder if I can adopt him and make him babysit my son? LOL… now, that’s a devious thought!
Group photo before the unveiling of the new phones. Tsk… yes… bloggers… we can never resist taking some photos together. 😛 I may be camera shy, but I’ve always love snapping around with my camera. It’s really fun, though it would be better if I can carry around something less bulky than my DSLR to snap a good shot! 😛 *ahemm* Anyone wanna sponsor me a good smartphone that comes with a good megapixel camera? 😛
It was still Ramadan when the event took place. Here’s a picture of our Muslim blogger friends, chillax-ing while waiting for breaking fast time.
Refreshments were provided for those who were fasting and of course, for those non-Muslim who were not fasting too. There’s plenty of sweet and savoury pastries.
The fried vermicelli and spring-rolls were quite a hot stuff that night and it goes *POOF* within minutes. We bloggers are big eaters or what? 😛 Neway, I’m just glad there are refills for the food. 😀
When our tummy finally stopped growling and settled down, the event finally commence and there’s an unveiling of the newly launched Ninetology U9 premium smartphones.
Introducing the Ninetology U9 Series
The three models showcased that night are the newly launched X1, Z1 and the Z1+ with the tagline “Top Notch”, “Stands Out” and “Larger Than Life” respectively. All these devices run on Android Jellybean 4.2.1 and are powered by a MediaTek MT6589 1.2GHz Quad-core processor. The phones are designed to cater to the youth and urbanites. The smartphones are definitely stylish devices that offers not only speedy and precise performance but value for your money. Yups, you’re reading that right. I assure you that these phones are on the competitive side of the price, so they are kinda affordable for phones with high-end specs. I’ll get to the pricing and the specs later. For now, feast your eyes and drool over these cool and trendy phones.
This is Ninetology U9X1. The smallest in size among the other two. But don’t judge a phone by it’s design and appearance. Running on Android Jellybean 4.2.1, this small babe packed quite a punch and provides not only stability, but speed as well. I know Android Jellybean 4.2.1 is not the latest Android, but it is definitely upgradeable to the latest version of Android.
The Ninetology U9X1 is kinda slim and sleek. Great for ladies, bloggers and travelers, I reckon. It has 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD, and is armed with a 13-megapixel shooter. Yups, that’s definitely a plus point for us bloggers. To be able to take good photos on the go with a small device that can be carried around in our pocket. You know how it’s like now. Snatch thief are everywhere. Carrying bulky gadgets will only attract the attentions of the criminals. 🙁
Apart from that, the phone also features 16GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. There’s also dual-sim support on this device, which means, you can put two simcard in it. Great, isn’t it? I mean, with this phone, you no longer need to carry a few phones for your business and personal number.
There’s a 2200mAh battery running it, providing hours of talk-time, browsing and loads of entertainment fun. This phone comes in Ruby Red too! 😛 Would really love to get my hands on this phone for real. I bet it goes really well with my wardrobe! 😛
Next up, my son and I tested the U9Z1. My son did not like the X1 the way I do. He prefers the bigger models better. I suppose it is much more sturdy and easier to grip for his tiny little fingers. We tested the front and the rear camera, and he loves the fact that he could take selfies with this. Apart from that, the boy tested the sound on this phone by playing, and it is safe to say that it was loud, clear and satisfactory enough for him to listen to mp3 or watch Youtube with it.
Ninetology U9Z1 has Super AMOLED HD displays ranging from 4.8 inches to 5.7 inches and equipped with 13 megapixels rear and 5 megapixels front cameras. Much like the X1, it also comes with 16GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. It does however feature wireless charging, which is a pretty wonderful feature to have.
Last but not least we went and further abuse the phones that’s showcased that night. Our next victim was Ninetology U9Z1+. It has 5.0-inch display. There’s also the 13-megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera as seen on the X1 and ‘dual camera’ function that allows for simultaneous use of both front and rear cameras. It is also capable of continuous shot, smile and face detection, quick panorama, burst shot and HD video recording. The unique thing about this device is its aluminum finishing. Great for those who wants not only a sleek and slim phone, but professionally trendy as well.
Generally, my son and I love these phones. And I’m pleased to note that these phones are not only hip, trendy and great in performance, but absolutely durable as well. The U9 series (Z1 and Z1+ model of the smartphones) are also utilizing Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 to ensure the brilliant displays remain protected in even the most robust use. Yeah, basically, it earned my approval as a mum, considering that it won’t spoil easily if my son were to drop it carelessly after playing Angry Bird or something. The U9 series devices are slim and light too – the X1 is 10mm slim, and weighs just 160g; Z1 at 9.3mm and 191g and finally; the Z1+ measures just 9mm and weighs 158g.
Here is my audio commentary on the phones. Do check it out. 😀 It’s my first live commentary, ever, so please, please be kind to me. 😛
Ninetology U9 commentary by Cleffairy (audio review)
Not impressed yet? Need more details before you make a grab at these? Well, below is the detailed product sheet for your geeky and techie consideration:
Product sheets and video, as released by Ninetology
Here’s a testimonial video from Ninetology U9 spokesperson, Z Chen on U9X1I. Maybe the video will help you get a clearer picture on what the phones can do.
The X1 comes in red and black, while the Z1 will be in black and Z1+ in white. These three models will be available at the recommended retail price of RM1099, RM1199 and RM1299 respectively. Each unit comes with a complimentary powerbank from Ninetology. The U9 smartphones are available at all major smart phone retailers in mid August.
Here’s an unboxing video from Ninetology Sabah for U9X1 phone.
Being a Ninetology user myself, I can vouch for it’s quality. I am a proud owner of Ninetology Pallette. I got it somewhere in February by using the SKMM rebate for just RM99.The Ninetology Pallete is on the lower end, and so far has been pretty much abused by my son.
I was definitely eye-ing on the phones showcased that night. It’s a much better deal in terms of quality and specs, that goes without saying. So when the emcee announced that there will be a Q&A session where all invited bloggers stands a chance to bring back home one of the phones showcased that night, I got really excited.
Bloggers were divided into groups. Those who answered wrongly were eliminated.
Lady luck was not on my side. My team was eliminated early. 🙁
And another blogger walks away with the prized phone instead. 😀
Oh well… I can always try another day, I guess. Are you a P1 user? I don’t know if you’re a P1 user, but I’m certainly a P1 user.
I used to use other ISP for my home office, but ever since I moved into my new place, I decided to subscribe to P1 Fiber Business plan instead. It is absolutely affordable. It costs me RM99 (Plus tax, RM120-tax suck, big time) per month with 5mbps unlimited usage. Being a hardcore Internet user, I love everything about it, especially the speed.
The only thing that is inconvenient about it is that my fiber line is only limited to my home office, which means, I cannot bring the whole modem out to online whenever I’m on the go or traveling. Quite inconvenient for me, considering that I’m always on the go and need constant access to the Internet.
So, when P1 was offering their P1 Mifi new ToGoâ„¢ plans featuring the new P1 Personal 4G WiFi : MF230 modem for me to review, I was really ecstatic as that indirectly means that I will be able to bring my mobile office everywhere and online on the go. MiFi MF230 modem is basically a modem that will enable you to connect multiple device all at once and on the go. Yups, ladies and gentlemen, that means with this device, you will be able to connect multiple devices simultaneously.
Now, I’ll be really, really honest with you. The signal for this Mifi is pretty much weak at home, but there is still connectivity. But that is okay, because this Mifi is not really intended to be used at home (and I have my P1 fiber line for that, anyway). As the name suggested, this device is created for you to bring around outdoors.
And so, I decided to bring it go around as I travel. Now, I wouldn’t exactly suggest you to use this Mifi for GPS as the signal tends to go up and down whenever you drive, and you won’t be able to refer to the GPS properly if you use the Mifi connection. You’re better off using 3G data plan or a GPS device for that, but I can vouch that this Mifi unit is wonderful to be used in places like cafes and stuff. The coverage is pretty good in some place, and the speed is reasonably fast, even though you connect plenty of device to it. There is no problem watching youtube and downloading stuff. The speed is reasonably fast. I must say that I’m quite happy with it.
Here’s some information on the device and the data plan, in case you’re interested in trying it out.
If I’m not mistaken, they have a no obligation 7 days trial. You might wanna take advantage of this offer and give it a try. 😀
Cleffairy: This device is designed to be used on the go. To use it at home, please check your MiFi coverage before subscribing to the plan.
I can do without a lot of things in life, but definitely not the Internet. Being an author, freelance writer and also a blogger requires me to be connected with the cyber world almost 24 hours a day. I have to be connected to take up writing projects as a freelance writer, and as a blogger, I constantly need to update my blog on the go from various location. In other words, the Internet and social media is my life, and my source of income. Without it, I am nothing.
If you’ve been really following my blog and is my friend on Facebook, you’d realized that I’ve recently moved into a new house, and I’m not exactly happy with its terrible condition and the lack of Internet connection during the first few weeks of settling down in the new place.
I’m a hardcore Internet user. Imagine my frustration and STRESS when I couldn’t get connected to do anything. Sure, I subscribed to various broadband service provider and I do have mobile Internet, but the connection in my house is absolutely terrible. I daresay that this house is an abomination to all Internet user alike and should be avoid like a plague. I feel like a walking zombie, and I’ve been almost a permanent refuge in McD. You see, McD is offering free WiFi… 😛 So I went there everyday to do my stuff over a cup of refillable tea. 😛
Anyway speaking of WiFi and Internet connection, P1 just launched their P1 Mifi new ToGoâ„¢ plans featuring the new P1 Personal 4G WiFi : MF230 modem and the High Performance Personal 4G WiFi : MX230.
I was really grateful when P1 is offering to review their MiFi MF230 modem. It is a modem that will enable you to connect multiple device all at once and on the go. I thought, that’s pretty much Godsent and I could make use of the free Internet connection for a couple of weeks until my ISP comes and install the fiber line in my new house.. 😀
So, here’s introducing my new friend, MF230. The box set consists of the MiFi modem, a USB cable for charging and direct connection purpose and a small instruction leaflet.
It’s small, portable, and you could easily mistake it for a smart-phone if you didn’t really bother to take a good look at it. Basically, it is designed for you to use on the go. It runs on battery and can be can be carried in your pocket or bag. This modem can connect up to 5 devices at one go. So yes…you can connect your tablet, PC, laptop, smart-phone and whatnot all at once with this modem. Pretty cool, huh?
Once it is turned on and the connection is established, the first light will be stable in green (excellent coverage), orange (okay coverage) or red (low coverage). Then your device will be able to search and detect the P1 modem. It is compatible with both Windows and Linux… so yes… if you are a person who detest Windows and is a Linux user…you may consider using this. I tested it on both Windows and my Ubuntu. My laptop that’s running on Ubuntu does not have any problems detecting the device. 😀 I must say, I’m pretty happy with this particular fact, as I had problems with another ISP where my Ubuntu cannot detect their modem and I had to find third-party driver just so that I could use that broadband. 🙁
I have yet to really, really test this babe… I’m still fiddling around with it… so I suppose when I’ve really tested it… with all the devices that I have at home, (laptop, smart- phone, tablet, PC) and on the go, I’ll let you know if I’d recommend this or not. Til then…stay tune and wait for my next review, ya?
Cleffairy: So far, I can really vouch that this MiFi MF230 is really great for travelers and bloggers who are always on the go. I’ve used this on the go with multiple device, and so far, it does not failed me.
