Innergie LifeHub 3 USB Power Hub with Extended Reach

The world is like a book and those who does not travel, reads only one page. I always believe in this saying and naturally, I try to see the world as much as I can. I wouldn’t pass the opportunity to travel to a new place and I make a point to go to places that I’ve never been before at least once a month. I would immortalize my trips and journeys by using my smartphone and DSLR camera and whenever I look back on the memories that I made, it will put me into a different perspective and inspire me in an inexplainable ways, even when I’m having a bad day.

Now, like most travelers, I carry around multiple devices; my smartphones, powerbanks, tablet, waterproof camera, DSLR and many more. Problem? Yes. These devices needs to be charged, and more often than not, the charger and powerbanks does not provide sufficient power and the charging speed is not fast enough to sustain a heavy user like me.

I always fond myself wishing for nuclear powered devices or devices with infinite power so that I wouldn’t have to face the inconvenience of having to charge my phone often and at a very long duration at that too.

But since nuclear powered devices is just a farfetch idea, at least for the time being, the new Innergie LifeHub 3 USB Power Hub with Extended Reach is the next best thing to sustain my needs for full powered devices all the time.

Accidental Shortcuts Discovery with Salam Browser

So, I was looking for…ahem, a method to prevent my son from seeing what he is not supposed to see yet whenever he goes online. You know, as much as I would like to tell you that I’m a sweet angel who does not do naughty things online, it would be a blatant lie. I often watch movies that’s not so children friendly, I visited sites that is not appropriate for kids and you know, I do all sort of naughty stuff and my browsing history isn’t exactly angelic to say the least.

Having a pre-teen kid whom I allow to use the laptop for blogging and browsing purpose, I knew I had to protect his innocent mind from seeing the unseen. Pre-teens are curious creatures. I was a pre-teen once and I knew how out of hands things can be.

 photo Screenshot_2016-06-30-08-40-49_zps8gxcibrf.png

To cut long story short, I stumbled upon this Salam Browser while searching for secured browsing for kids. Reading up reviews, it is a browser that is supposedly children friendly. It is free to download and ensures secure browsing for children by enforcing great security.

Anyway, let’s put technicalities aside. Upon usage, I discovered that Salam Browser gives plenty of useful tips and one of it is keyboard shortcut tips.

Well, despite being married to a system engineer for more than a decade, I’m not quite that literate when it comes to techie stuff. When I browse and do things, it would be the old fashion way, the very useful and mighty mouse.

But now here’s sharing keyboard shortcuts that will make your online life easier, because I know how miserable it can be whenever your mouse goes faulty or when you need to do things at a faster speed.

Common keyboard shortcuts (can also be used on Salam Browser)

1. Open New Tab in browser
Ctrl+T

2. Close Current Tab
Ctrl+W

3. Reopen Last Tab Closed
Ctrl + Shift +T

4. View Specific Tab
Don’t clutter your screen with more than 9 tabs opened at once. Minimize distraction. With up to 9 tabs opened jump to a specific tab by holding Ctrl and pressing required tab number
Ctrl+ 1 or Ctrl+ 2 and so on.

Jumping to a specific tab in browser with Ctrl+1, +2, +3… shortcuts
Ctrl+Tab will let you jump on the next tab in the right direction. To go in the opposite directions add Shift.

5. Point mouse cursor into search bar without dragging your mouse there
Ctrl+L

6. Scroll with Spacebar
If your cursor is not in a text field press Spacebar to scroll down.

7. Jump to the top of the page

Press Home button

8. Open Downloaded Page
Ctrl+J

9. Browse in Incognito Mode
For extra privacy, use Ctrl+Shift+N

10. Quit Browser Window
Quit Incognito Mode window without clicking on ×. Simply press Ctrl+Q

There, easy-peasy, right? Hope all of you out there benefited from the shortcuts the way I do should you been in the dark about it.

NovelPlus, A Self Publishing Apps For Writers

 photo Screenshot_2015-12-15-12-54-56_zpsy6zdn29y.png

NovelPlus is the game changer for indie writers and avid readers by creating a complete ecosystem for independent publishing and reading.

NovelPlus, a creative publishing and reading smartphone app, have accepted and published more than 500 Malay-language fiction titles by Malaysian independent authors.
NovelPlus offer authors a fast, easy and free way to write, collaborate and directly publish their novel and distribute them to millions of avid readers.

Unlike the traditional route of self-publishing, NovelPlus removed the technology barrier through easy-to-use tools for publishing novel, making it easier for authors to focus on writing and reaching new readers.

To date, NovelPlus have about 500 self-published titles by independent authors, and these contents are available for free to all NovelPlus users. The in-app purchase mechanism will be launched later on as more users get familiar with the app.

NovelPlus aim to do two things: helping people to tell their stories and then enabling them to share their work directly with their audience. With the advent of technology, reading has become easier than lugging a copy of paperback when you take the train to campus or work.

With the release of NovelPlus, which are available on Google Playstore and Apple App Store via www.novelplus.co, people are able to imbibe beautifully woven stories written by people just like them, and escape to another creative world through wonderfully rich story. It does not just end there.

Today, self-published books are widely distributed, but NovelPlus made it easier to do that specifically for the local community, with heart-wrenching, romantic and very relevant stories that speak to Malaysians.

NovelPlus is the only app that publishes Malay-language novels digitally. The app has great readability and readers can turn the pages just like a book.

NovelPlus, a creative and independent publishing platform, do not just allow a conduit between authors and readers, it also encourages reading among Malaysians by making it easy and fun.
Launched in 2015 , NovelPlus have now made more than 500 titles  available to more than 11,000 users.

Tedmi, Fun and Rewarding Social Media Apps

Meet my new best friend. A huge and cuddly red bear.

 photo FB_IMG_1441880305203_zpsnejccqag.jpg

Say hi to Tedmi, my new cuddly love interest. This is no ordinary bear, mind you. He is the official mascot and everyone’s best friend for a fun and rewarding social media application, Tedmi.

So, what’s actually Tedmi? What kind of apps is it you ask me? Allow me to explain, my dear readers, before you hop away, thinking that this is just another one of those boring and useless apps that will just make your phone slow down and bloated. I know that there are tonnes of apps in the market but Tedmi is uniquely different and in my humble opinion, stands put above the rest as it is not only rewarding, but cute and fun as well.

Basically, Tedmi Malaysia is a social media apps that allows you to not only get the latest news but enables you to be rewarded with various vouchers and coupons from participating merchants. I have recently scored myself a 2d1n holiday package by just using Tedmi, but before I share my experience about it, allow me to share what Tedmi is all about and how to use it.

Tedmi is compatible with both Android and iOS so all you need to do is look up in your respective marketplace to download the apps.

I’m using Android based phone so here’s looking up on Playstore for Tedmi. Unlike others voucher apps, Tedmi is FREE to use. There is no fees whatsoever in comparison to other social media reward applications that is available in the market.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-02-08_zpsvfrwkely.png

To start using Tedmi, you will of course need to install it. First, search for Tedmi Malaysia and you will end up here on this page.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-02-15_zps5nbyvzaj.png

Click install and Tedmi will be automatically downloaded and installed in your smartphone.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-17-59-21_zpsj3r30hws.png

Upon installation, open the apps by clicking on the Tedmi red bear icon on your phone and you will directed to this page. To start using Tedmi, you will need an account. To do that, you may choose to register an account via email or simply use your Facebook account to login and your account will be automatically created.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-02-44_zpsjczgwh7h.png

Once your account has been created, you can take a look at your profile and verify all your personal information there.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-07-16_zpse2iu3qcf_edit_1441881974571.png_zpsqq92d12c.jpeg

I opt to verify both my email and phone number along with the login password for security reason. There is a bonus reward in that as by verifying all your personal info, you will be rewarded with either a random Mi eggs or Mi experience point that will enable you to upgrade your Mi characters that will allow you to redeem more exclusive items.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-06-20-38-00_zpsanhlhuvh.png

One of the Mi egg that I found after verifying my account.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-19-05-34_zpsgg5v8toc.png

The eggs found usually will hatch in 24 hours and you can level them up by using your experience points for more rewards and benefits. Upgraded version of these Mi characters can also be automatically unlocked as your level grows.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-06-13_zpsisxobp2r.png

Mi characters. They are actually functional avatars. Collect them all and upgrade them by using your experience points to enable more exclusive benefits offered by Tedmi Malaysia and the participating merchants. In other words, the higher your Mi characters are, the more benefit you will get. There is a lot of Mi to collect and may also choose to change avatars regularly by just clicking on these Mi characters.

Tedmi is pretty interesting. It provides both news updates on your timeline as well as vouchers to redeem.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-04-38_zpsxf8i3nwe.png

One of the news from merchants.

 photo FB_IMG_1441880133209_zpsi9lvlmsy.jpg

You can bookmark your favourite news or posts and read it later from your profile.

Apart from that, you may also share interesting posts you saw in your Tedmi account with your friend on your social media account. Checkout the video above, courtesy of my friend, Azuki.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-57-34_zpson9mmwse.png

I did mentioned that the apps is rewarding, right? Well, Tedmi apps allow you to save 1 voucher ticket from participating merchants every 10 minutes.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-05-48_zpsma6hyc5s.png

The ‘wallet’ allows you to keep up to 50 vouchers at one time. Up in the screenshot is mine. I’m a foodie, naturally most vouchers I chose to save is of course, food related ones. They have wide range of vouchers you can save up and redeem, so keep a lookout for interesting vouchers.

 photo FB_IMG_1441880411646_zpsrpogztke.jpg

I scored myself a lucky draw as a Tedmi user. It was a premium ticket to 2d1n holiday retreat in The Wave Rest House&Cafe in Jeram, Selangor. So did I redeem it? Of course I did and I got to say that I never felt happier using an app like I did Tedmi. So how did I redeem?

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-05-31_zpshybse3mj.png

Easy. I just went to the guesthouse, mentioned Tedmi and scan the QR code for my ticket.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-19-23-08_zpsdkzcbwgk.png

To redeem, just go to respective merchant, show them the ticket in your ‘wallet’ and scan a QR code from them in your Tedmi, redeem and enjoy.

 photo Screenshot_2015-09-10-18-05-55_zpscgfxzfqx.png

I redeemed mine and I had a huge blast last weekend with my family in The Wave Guesthouse and Cafe in Jeram, Selangor with Tedmi Malaysia team. Will be sharing my fantastic experience soon, but for now, if you are not a Tedmi user yet, please install it and start having fun! Tedmi will be releasing more interesting features with more fun, more reward soon, so use now, and stay tune for more exciting things with Tedmi.

Learn How To Increase Cyber Security at Malaysia IT Fair 2015

When in comes to operating system on my computers, I personally prefer Open Source operating systems, especially those Linux based. In my humble opinion, they are much more flexible and gives user control in comparison to Windows. Apart from that, they provided much better security and will not be infected by Trojans and viruses in comparison to Windows operating system(s) where basically, let’s admit it, is a giant farm of viruses and terribly loads of backdoor ‘magics’ that will appear even if you don’t use them. Experienced that with Windows 7. Three months of not turning on. Everything looks okay during shutdown but spyware magically appeared upon booting up the system. Terrible, terrible thing with so many flaws and not exactly something I approve for daily usage considering I use the desktop and laptop strictly for business and not merely just as an entertainment console.

I’ve tried plenty of Linux/Unix based distros such as PCBSD, SuSe Linux, Debian, Red Hat and Ubuntu. My current favourite is the easy to use and user friendly Ubuntu, which even my 10 years old son could easily handle.

Neway, considering that there is still necessity to use Windows for gaming purposes, the desktops and laptops I owned is naturally partitioned and is dual or triple boot, which means, one of the operating system is sadly Windows. Well, can’t help it if you need to destress by gaming. Windows basically supports all online games that I love eg: MapleStory, DoTa, WoW. You get the picture. Unless you use WINE, you can’t play those games on Linux or Unix based operating systems. Tragic. I know.

Anyway, having heard so much about Malaysia IT Fair (MITF) is happening now until 31st August 2015 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, I decided to check it out. Mainly because this time around they are offering very interesting deals and seminars. Malaysia IT Fair occupies over 60,000 square feet of exhibition space, has over 80 global brands showcasing business products, solutions and services.

 photo IMG_20150828_113558_zps528hpaka.jpg

For end users: Competitive deals on items like pen drive, external HD, and also latest gadgets auction. Most, will go for this at the fair but I was interested in checking out the seminars and learn how to improve security in those machines that is running on Windows instead.

 photo IMG_20150828_113947_zpsimv04xbb.jpg

One of the attractive point is TechBiz which is the first ever large scale business-to-business event to be held in Malaysia which comprises of business platform, seminar and exhibitions.

 photo IMG_20150828_113719_zpsxoj6hn98.jpg

TechBiz@MITF is providing free essential trending IT seminars covering network security, virtualization, SME topics to public, which I attended and I have to say that there is quite some thing you can pick up from there.

 photo 20349127704_f1a86f7998_zpsaecinf4u.jpg

Yang Berhormat Dato’ Jailani Bin Johari, the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia officiated the opening of Techbiz@MITF and also proud to announce MAMPU’s decision to use Techbiz as their platform to educate, evaluate all the latest technologies and solutions for the Malaysia government and business communities and general public.

 photo IMG_20150828_114012_zpszgb0nlz4.jpg

If you happen to drop by, please do check out the Kaspersky booth for security solution for your Windows operating system. Yes. Just the thing that I need to prevent my Windows to turn into WinBlows. There are three main new features not found before in KIS 2015, firstly is Private Browsing, where your data is protected from social sites and agencies so that your browser activity is private and safe, locations and search history cannot be stolen as many agencies will try to resell them to send targetted ads to you. This feature is able to remove those illegal software via a plugin.

The next feature is KIS 2016 Change Control that is able to detect any process that tries to make a change in your system and a report will be sent to you. Exactly the crap that I experienced with my Windows 7 quite some time ago. Another feature is Webcam Protection that prevents interception of images from the webcam and you will be notifed you when someone tries to access your laptop camera to spy on you. Just the thing that I need if I were to boot on my Windows regularly.

 photo received_1645981682313884_zpspait5yc9.jpeg

Check out the security suites. The price is not too shabby, I reckon. One of it: Kaspersky Internet Security priced at RM179 for 2 boxes of 3-users 1-year licenses, making it only RM29.80 per user. Worth to invest on.

 photo IMG_20150828_113941_zpsgwy7vtmz.jpg

Interested to get yourselves a new smartphone? Well, I spotted ViVo booth doing fantastic promo. Go and check it out of you are considering to get one.

 photo IMG_20150828_114247_zps2vy1tfaa.jpg

Windows users will most definitely appreciate this booth. Here is where you can find out more on how to upgrade your outdated Windows OS to the latest version, Windows 10. Don’t worry. The people there are friendly. Just ask whatever you want. They don’t bite. 😉

 photo IMG_20150828_114217_zpseumjan5p.jpg

Being a part time gamer *cough*, I somehow drool while I was visiting this booth. Here is where you can upgrade, optimize and customize your own gaming machine. The pricing is competitive. Should you need to customize one, head over here for perfect bargain.

 photo IMG_20150828_114150_zps7ka4te8y.jpg

Storage service providers like the well known Western Digital and Seagate can also be spotted at the fair, offering their various updated storage devices at somewhat a reasonable price.

 photo PhotoGrid_1440904440140_zpsznv8thmy.jpg

I had a few that I’m considering to buy but these two from Western Digital and Seagate respectively caught my eyes. One is a very slim kind of External HD while the other provides wireless feature that enable you to use to transfer datas at a more convenient manner unlike the traditional External HD.

I could go on and on talking about
Malaysia IT Fair (MITF), but cutting it short, it is worth checking out. Especially the seminars. Very insightful to say the least. There are plenty of good deals but some of the items are fairly limited so if you are going, make sure you go early.

Malaysia IT Fair (MITF) 2015 is happening now until 31st August 2015 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre. Be sure to check it out.

All I Want for V-Day is To Be A Flasher

My husband may not be very good with dates and special occasion. He tend to forget them if I don’t remind him, but occasionally…he does pay attention to special dates, in his own subtle way, that is. Usually…he will not wish me anything…not happy birthday…or happy anniversary, but 12 going on 13 years of spending our lives together since college, I noticed that he always make a point to spend time with me on special dates, regardless of how busy he is. Okay. That’s good enough for me. 🙂

Anyway, speaking of special occasion,  it is that time of the year again. Valentine’s Day is less than a month. It is pretty commercialized these days in my opinion. My husband shares the same sentiment too, so whenever he asked me if I want anything as present, I would say no need, but this year, I’m awfully tempted to tell him that I wanted a brand new smartphone with good camera function for me to take photos and selfies.

Yes. You are reading that right! Take selfies. I may not showcase myself on the Internet or the social media, but I do take pleasure in taking self portraits these days. Yes, yes….I’m vain. A hopeless one at that too. :p I like flipping through the album gallery in my smartphone; where I captured myself and my loved ones in various backgrounds and settings. Pictures, especially selfies are such wonderfully personal thing that makes the occasional trip down the memory lane much easier.

If you’re to ask me what I want for new year and the coming Valentine’s day is a selfie phone, where I can take a lot of beautiful selfies and send the pictures to my loved ones to share my beautiful memories with….or if I’m feeling rather naughty, literally flash myself to my husband whenever I’m feeling naughty or miss him when he is at work.

There is one phone in particular that I have my eyes on;

Alcatel Onetouch Flash. This smartphone was recently launched in Malaysia and is available for sales since early December 2014. 😉

The Alcatel Onetouch Flash , is lauded to be one of the world’s best selfie smartphones, comes with an outstanding camera performance.- a front 5 Mpxl HD and a 13 Mpxl Full HD rear camera. Alcatel Onetouch Flash also comes with a great resolution front facing camera with Smart Beauty Enhancement feature that is just perfect for selfie lovers without the need of any extra photo editing apps, as the photos taken are already enhanced for the users. How awesome is that? I mean… the selfies that I take will have professional, studio-like quality, where I can look flawless and model-worthy! 😉 In addition, to it’s selfie features, Alcatel Onetouch Flash   has a lightweight 150g body with 5.5” HD. Packing a True Octacore 1.4 GHz processor. It is ideal for multitasking and the 3200mAh battery allows your entertainment on-the-go for longer. The Dual-frequency Wi-Fi on the other hand, reduces interference and enhances transmission speed.

Alcatel Onetouch Flash also has Hotknot pre-installed, a technology that allows rapid transfer of all multimedia information and much faster than NFC. Users can transfer their favourite photos or videos by just one touch. Basically, the phone delivers optimized memory and touchscreen functionality, boosted voice call quality, redesigned Quickoffice and E-mail and a new emoticon keyboard.

So, basically, here’s the Alcatel Onetouch Flash‘s spec:

Display: 5.50-inch HD

Processor: Octa Core1.4GHz

Front Camera: 5-megapixel HD

Rear Camera: 13-megapixel Full HD

Resolution: 720×1280 pixels

RAM: 1GB

OS: Android 4.4

Storage: 8GB

Battery capacity: 3200mAh

In my humble opinion, the phone is not just ‘flashable’, but packed quite a punch as it encourages work productivity as well. And a bonus for a vain person like me? Well, this phone is fashionable too. Yes… Alcatel Onetouch Flash is not just a smartphone but also a fashion accessory with its premium design with Hydraskins ( https://www.facebook.com/hydraskins ) – creating a fashionable look for Alcatel Onetouch Flash.

Alcatel Onetouch Flash is available nationwide in Malaysia and from 15th December 2014 in East for just RM699 bundled with flip cover and value added Screen Warranty Care + (SWC+) which covered the device with a free one-time screen replacement within the first 12 months of ownership. In conjunction with the launch, Alcatel Onetouch has also partnered with Hydraskins.com to provide an exclusive 50% off skins exclusively for Alcatel Onetouch Flash users by simply entering the redemption code “BEaFlasher”. The promotion period is valid till 31st March 2015 and is also valid for all Alcatel Onetouch users and not only Onetouch Flash.

Drooling yet? But since I don’t have any budget allocation for the phone right now, I’ll just check out the #BEaFlasher on Facebook and Instagram. #BeaFlasher is a campaign that encourages one to embrace the culture of expressing their individuality through selfies. Do check it out the hashtag on Facebook and Instagram too, ladies and gentlemen.
