IPV6 to Change The Internet Landscape in Malaysia

The Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPV6) Dialogue session organized here today by Persatuan IPV6 Malaysia and Adasta Network Sdn Bhd with the theme- “Hastening the pace of embracing IPv6,” received thumbs up from about 200 participants for the opportunity to hear from prominent local and international speakers.

The IPv6 discussion attracted key stakeholders from the HR and IT sectors who were given an insight into the practical steps of the last mile to embrace the New Internet World based on IPv6.

The event was officiated by Dato Dr Mohd Ali bin Mohamad Nor, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia. In his speech, Dato Dr Mohd Ali congratulated Adasta Network Sdn Bhd for their recent feat in winning a Special Award from the Global IPV6 Forum and for their unstinting efforts in the implementation and progress of IPV6 Malaysia.

“I am informed that tomorrow, 26th July, there will be a graduation ceremony of the Network Engineers and IPV6 Security personnel. Congratulations to those who have completed the course and successfully commissioned by the Global IPV6 Forum,” said Dato Dr Mohd Ali.

Meanwhile, the IPv6 discussions worked in spreading the right messages to the Malaysian stakeholders and to define its own national step-by-step transition plan to IPv6 .

Prominent Speakers, namely Dr Latif who is the Founder and President of The Global IPVe Forum and Professor Emeritus Sureswaran Ramadas, Emeritus Chair of The Global IPV6 For Education were present to give their views and updates during the dialogue a major boost.

The discussion featured a gathering of local HR and IT Heads as well as academicians and students with the speakers, discussing and exchanging knowledge and ideas on the competitive advantage of being early adopters of IPV6.

“There is nothing more encouraging for us as Speakers than seeing people bravely asking difficult questions and openly sharing a variety of perspectives. I think this eventually spoke of the quality of the exchange between us and the audience, as well a interests towards social issues on IPV6 in Malaysia,” noted Dr Latif Ladid.

Meanwhile, Professor Emeritus Sureswaran Ramadas said the dialogue session was a very valuable reference in understanding local and global Internet industry trends and usage patterns, the web’s impact on traditional politics, economy, society and culture, and future directions of related policies

“With IPV6 embracement, Malaysia can be propelled into a top-5 nation globally or in the Asia Pacific region, hence competing internationally using ICT through increased productivity and sustainability,” added Sureswaran.

The main goal of this dialogue session was to promote IPv6 adoption through a wide range of actions encouraging public administration, users and industrial stakeholders to take decisive steps to accelerate the implementation of IPv6, so as to ensure Malaysia’s readiness to face the expected depletion of IPv4 addresses. In addition to this main goal, the prompt and efficient adoption of IPv6 offers Malaysia significant opportunities to boost innovation and develop a leading role in advancing the Internet. The organizers were confident that the dialogue session provided all participants with a right frame of mind and directionto put to use IPV6 in making a truly ubiquitous society a reality and in further developing the Internet.

Common availability of IPv6 connectivity is first andforemost in IPv6 adoption; in addition, the Internet community must consider education and training of IT managers, as well as network security during the transition,” said Ms. Bhaawani of Adasta Network Sdn Bhd.

The Internet World has been using the Internet for decades. Despite its tremendous success, IPv4 is showing signs of strain especially in its fast depleting IP address space and its growing security concerns. Exclusive: An Insight into Blockchain Technology with Ivan Ku, CEO of Ledgit

Being a little bit of a geek that I am, I do try to keep up with the ongoings in the tech world. Have you heard about the blockchain technology? Yes? No? Well, for those who are not familar with the term, blockchain is a digitized, decentralized, public ledger of all cryptocurrency transactions (Eg: Cryptocurrency as in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, etc). The blockchain technology allows trading participants to keep track of the digital currency transactions without central recordkeeping.

Pendrive: A Trustworthy Data Storage Solution

As a writer, blogger and tourism activist, I rely alot on gadgets like smartphones, DSLR camera and laptop to get all my work done on the go. I don’t have the convenience of sitting in an office 9-5 daily as more often than not, I’m always outdoor somewhere. Believe it or not, this article was produced on the go by using a WordPress apps that’s installed in my smartphone. I do my work anytime, anywhere while I’m on the go as I see fit. That is how important these gadgets are to me. They help me to get my work done at my own convenience.

As important and convenient they are in helping me deliver my work, these working tools does have a few annoying limitations. I’m quite a hardcore user and rhe batteries of these gadgets are always depleted and to make things worst, I always find myself in akward situations where the memories are not enough. As a result to that, I often missed out on writing inspiring things that came to mind or missed capturing beautiful moments in pictures. Call me a hogger but deleting old files and pictures in these devices is not an option as they have their own values, be it monetary or sentimental.

Pendrive: Solusi Penyimpanan Data Yang Boleh Dipercayai

Hampir semua pekerjaan masa kini melibatkan penggunaan gadget, dan saya juga tidak terkecuali dari menggunakan gadget dalam menyempurnakan tugasan-tugasan saya. Sebagai seorang pengemar aktiviti pelancongan dan penulis yang moden, saya mengamalkan konsep paper-less dimana kertas tidak digunakan dalam kerja penulisan saya. Semua hasil kerja penulisan saya adalah berversi digital dan diterbitkan di ruangan digital.

Antara gadget ‘Mesti Ada’ bagi saya adalah smartphone, kamera DSLR dan juga laptop. Gadget-gadget ini mempermudahkan tugasan harian di mana-mana sahaja saya berada. Namun begitu, gadget-gadget ini mempunyai batasan yang tersendiri. Contohnya, kuasa bateri telefon bimbit pintar (smartphone) kamera dan juga laptop tidak boleh bertahan lama walaupun gadget-gadget ini telah dicaskan sehingga mencapai tahap maksima. Begitu juga dengan kapasiti simpanan data yang sentiasa berkurangan dengan penggunaan yang kerap.

Kapasiti simpanan data yang semakin-lama semakin kurang selepas setiap kali penggunaan gadget, tidak kiralah samada ia adalah smartphone, laptop ataupun kamera DSLR adalah masalah yang amat besar bagi saya yang sentiasa mengembara dan berada di luar. Bayangkan perasaan saya satu ketika dahulu dimana smartphone dan DSLR saya memberi amaran bahawa memory dan ruang simpanan data di dalam phone dan kamera tidak mencukupi dan saya tidak dapat terus membuat rakaman video dan menangkap gambar yang menarik pada masa itu.

Memadamkan fail atau gambar-gambar lama yang tersimpan di dalam gadget-gadget saya bukanlah satu pilihan yang baik kerana setiap hasil kerja saya, samada penulisan atau gambar yang diambil mempunyai nilai yang tersendiri. Oleh sebab itu, saya membuat keputusan untuk memaksimakan penggunaan gadget dengan gadget simpanan memori tambahan.
