Things I can get used to again ^_^

I mentioned in my previous blog post that my husband is studying again, didn’t I? Well… some people would say that studying and marriage does not exactly walk hand in hand as it is hard to juggle between your academic life and your family life, but I completely disagree. Why? Well, elementary my dear readers. When I first met my husband we were both just students. And when we’re together and blessed with a baby, we were still students. I was not even out of college yet and I managed to get good results in my studies while being a full time mother. It was hard, yes, but not impossible.

My husband and I graduated and when we started working 2-3 years back, we promised each other that we will not allow our marriage and relationship stop us from pursuing our studies in the future. Now it is time to keep our words to each other. My husband has just started studying again, and it will be my turn to continue my studies next year when our boy is finally standard 1. It would be great. The three of us will be students. We’d make quite a trio, don’t you think? Imagine the three of us sitting at the table doing our homeworks together or preparing for exams together. I think it would be very very nice!

My husband studying again is something I definitely can get used to… it’s going to be a bit rough along the way, no doubt, but I am very proud of my husband that he decided to continue his study. I’ve always have the hots for intelligent men whose nose stuck in the book every now and then. I find it pretty arousing and very, very, very sexy. (OMG… when the hell will he finally ruin his eyesight and wear specs? That would be sexier…just like Clark Kent!)

I like men with brains…they are… highly stimulating. LOL! Ahemm… I am not sure if my husband will read this. I don’t really hope he will read this post. I think I’d feel abit shy for expressing myself like this. But then again… what the hell… seeing him studying again reminds me of our college years where we’re both horny teenagers.

He was my senior, and we used to study together. And seeing him studying these days really brings back those memories where we used to hold hands and steal kisses in places we’re not supposed to do so- in the elevator, in the library, in the gardens and playgrounds…. Okay, we were both very naughty…so if you don’t want to read mushy things over here and goes eyewww, please get out of here before I make you retch. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.LOL.

Just last week, before my husband left for his exam, I kissed him good luck. It is nothing, really. I always kiss him on the lips each time before he go out. I’ve forgotten why we’ve been doing this, but now that he’s been studying and I’ve been taking a hell lot of trip down the memory lane, I finally remembered why I’ve been kissing him by the door before he goes out of the house without failed.

It is because I realized that I actually liked kissing him and being kissed since my first kiss back then. I used to steal kisses from him ever since our first kiss in front of my hostel room nine years ago. =.= It’s been a habit since, and when we started to live together, we just casually kiss each other before either one of us leave the house and stopped remembering why we’ve been doing this all these years, and from hot, open mouthed kisses, it became a chaste kiss on the lips.

Things are different when we’re living together. Things became rather…mundane, but now… I am not quite sure if I can say the same since my husband started to study again. There are welcome changes…things that I can definitely get used to again.

Oh boy… I think I am in big trouble. I caught myself stealing glances at my husband when he was sedately driving and I did the unthinkable and peep on him while he was studying. *FACEPALM* Not sure what the hell is wrong with me, but I suppose, seeing him having his nose stuck in the book makes me feel as giddy as a teenager again.

After so many years… I feel as if I don’t just need him in my life as the father to my child or my husband, but I want him all over again…want him… as in… want him just as him-no title or responsibility attached. Hmm… weird, that doesn’t really make sense. I suppose a better description of it it is falling in love with him all over again? Geez… I dunno… I can’t think straight right now. Right now I’m having flashback of us dancing to N’sync song- “I Drive Myself Crazy’. This damn scene where we dance in his room during college keeps intruding the peace of my mind. *GROAN*  What the hell is wrong with me?

Sigh… anyway, my husband had his first exam 2 weeks ago and he passed with distinction. I am very proud of him and I think he deserved the good result as he really did study alot and drives my hormones crazy during the period. As much as I support him and wants him to excel… I am not quite sure if I’d survive myself. I’m becoming  the younger version of me with each passing day and I could have sworn that he’s becoming the younger version of himself as well… with loads of improvements and tricks up his sleeves.  My husband haven’t been a really good boy these days. He’s been rather naughty. =.= I wish I can say two can play the seduction game, but I’m a bit of a chicken, and this time around, I’d be sure to remind myself of protection. >.< I’m enjoying my life too much to be a mother all over again! For now, I want to enjoy being an ‘elder sister’ to my son and a lover to my husband.

Cleffairy: I lie awake, I drive myself crazy, thinking of you…

Time Tempest…

As I was searching for some royalty-free pictures for the cover of my latest novel, ‘Time Tempest’, I stumbled upon some Wallpapers, and these are some of my favourite.

This one made me think of Astrea, the fairy princess in my novel, Royal Masquerade. The only thing that differentiate the character of my creation is that Astrea has dark hair, not golden haired.

I like this one too… but somehow, it’s rather cold and emotionless…

The last two pictures are my favourite… if only they are royalty free. *SOBS*

Excerpt from Time Tempest manuscript:

“No! Big brother, stay with me! Wake up! Oh, God, wake up, big brother. Open your eyes, stay with me!” she cried out as she cradled him in her arms, desperately hold onto him as if holding him tightly to her bosom like that would sustain his life a little bit longer.

She’s not sure why she’s here, and what is going on, but the memory of last night gave  her a huge pang of regret. He left home, left her, and now, he’s dying in her arms. Again, he’s going to leave her, and this time, forever. It doesn’t matter if it’s not real. It seems real enough to her. His then warm body is now becoming colder and colder with every passing seconds, and his heart did not beat with vitality. He’s slipping away, and not knowing what to do, she embraced him tightly as she would a lover and cried her heart out in devastation.

“I’m sorry… I’m so sorry big brother. Don’t leave me. I’m so, so sorry… come back to me. I’ll do anything… anything…. anything you ask of me…” she murmured into his ears incoherently, hoping so much that he would wake up and talk to her.

“Don’t… don’t leave me. I love you.” she told him, but of course, he could no longer listen to her sob of a begging and a confession. She wants him back. It doesn’t matter if it’s those hurtful words that sprung out of anger or jealousy that he’ll hurl at her. It doesn’t matter anymore. She’ll take that a thousand times than have this; him, silenced in her arms, breathing what could be his last.

“What wouldn’t I give… what wouldn’t I give to bring you back?”  his body was so cold, and he didn’t seems to be breathing anymore. Ellinia was now grieving beyond words as she held him tightly to her own body and weep.

“I love you. More than you could ever imagine. Even if it’s wrong. I love you.”she murmured, and as if to witness her grief, she heard a sound that is similar to those of loud pendulum and ticking clocks echoing everywhere. She gasps at the familiarity of the sound. She heard this before when she was ‘dreaming’ about her and Zephyr. The only difference was that this time, it’s much louder and a lot more intimidating than the ones she heard before. The synchronization of the ticking clocks made a queer melody.

Have you ever…

Have you ever tried frying steamed bun/pau?

They’re very easy. It only takes a minute or so to fry those leftover dimsum pau that you couldn’t finish from your dimsum meals in the kopitiam.

You got to be really good in frying though, or you’ll burn the pau.

I think I did quite a good job. Did not burn the Pau. I guess I’m better at frying things rather than grilling them.

A good, quickie comfort food, no? Want not, but waste not. I hate to see food goes to waste, so more often than not, I recycle the food. 😀 Sometimes, the recycled version taste much better than the original ones.

Cleffairy: 1 minute meal in my tummy. 😀

Cleffairy’s Simple Mee Jawa

I couldn’t help myself when I saw STP’s post on mee jawa the other day, and it sent me down the memory lane, to the time where my late grandma was still alive. Being a nyonya, she was very particular when it comes to food.

She spent most of her time in the kitchen to feed the family. Her day began as early as 6am and ended usually after 10pm. Typical meals in her house would be breakfast, lunch, hi-tea and supper.

On Saturday or Sunday, when her children and grandchildren visit, she would often prepare Mee Jawa for lunch. It’s one of her specialty, and the recipe was passed down to my mum, and later on, to me and all her granddaughters whom she considered old enough to cook;usually, at the age of 7. There were no written recipes though. All of us had to memorize the recipe and the steps by heart.

I was craving Mee Jawa the other day, and so I decided to cook some for my family, but I don’t think it did justice to my grandmother’s recipe, cuz I… *ahem* simplified it.

Ingredients:

1 packet of yellow noodles/spaghetti

200gm shrimps cleaned, de-shelled and grinded

500gm chicken bones

5 shallots, sliced thinly

3 garlic, sliced thinly

5 tablespoon of tomato sauce

3 tablespoon of chilli paste

Some bean-sprout (optional)

Fried beancurd

Vegetable fritters ( you can fry em yourself or get them from your nearest mamak stall)

1 Boiled egg

1 potato boiled/fried

So here’s how I modified my late grandma’s recipe.

Make the soup stock by boiling together the chicken bone and the shrimp. And heat up the oil in the wok. Sauté the shallots and garlic til fragrant. Add in the chilli paste and tomato sauce and let it sizzle for a while before adding the soup stock. Stir, and add in the yellow noodles/spaghetti. Simmer for 5 minutes and  garnish with the sliced fried beancurd and sliced boiled potatoes. Add in some bean sprout if you wish, but that is optional. I just used a bit of it in my recipe cuz I can’t take beansprouts.

Note: Add in some vegetable fritters/fried keropok if you happen to have them.

Yield: 3 servings

Preparation time: 30 mins

Cleffairy: Having a trip down the memory lane makes me hungry!

Wedding Insurance

I’ve been talking about bed, mattresses, furnitures, making love, and that simply screams romance, doesn’t it? Well, I’m in the mood, so bear with me, please. 😀

Speaking of lovers and romance, marriage and weddings comes to mind, doesn’t it?

While weddings is a romantic affair between two individuals, nothing is ever secured, and that is why we need wedding insurance for.

The average cost of a UK Wedding is now over £20,000* so it makes sense to protect your big day if you’re a UK citizen.

Wed safely, lovebirds. Get your wedding insured. It doesn’t matter if you decided to go for a cheap wedding insurance, just get your wedding insured so that you can have a perfect, peaceful wedding or you can forever hold your peace. 😛

Why get a wedding insurance, you ask me? Well, this is why you should at least get a cheap wedding insurance:

  • It is common that some couples have second thoughts about their wedding. And if you have to cancel the wedding for any unavoidable reason, such as an injury to you or your partner, the policy should pay out. This is likely to be one of the most useful areas of cover that wedding insurance policies offer.
  • Wedding insurance can also cover you for loss or damage to wedding attire, such as the wedding dress, as well as presents, the wedding cake, rings, flowers and gifts for the guests. Cover starts a set period before the wedding and finishes a set period after – from seven days before to 24 hours after for wedding gifts, for example – but this will vary depending on the policies you opt for.
  • You’ll be relying on wedding services from a range of providers. Wedding insurance can cover any extra costs you incur up to the policy limit if something goes wrong with these services.

Wedding insurance can protect you against a range of unfortunate events and help you make sure you are not out of pocket as a result, but whether it’s worth taking out ultimately depends on the cost of your wedding and how worried you are about things going wrong. If you’re worried about some horrible wedding crashers that will crash your wedding and ruin your big day, then getting at least a cheap wedding insurance is the only logical thing to do. It’ll spare you from worries.

Cleffairy: Some wedding insurance covers the armed forces too.

Bedroom furniture

Sleeping is a pleasure. Making love is a pleasure. And as an author, I often describe bedrooms and bedrooms furniture in the house or mansion of my protagonists with pleasure and extensive details so that my readers would be able to imagine how the bedrooms and the bedrooms furniture in the story looks like.

They’re often romantic and suits the character’s personality. They’re often sky blue, white, a contrast of black and white, or even glaring red, but never pink. Pink is too girlish for the strong characters in my books.

In Royal Masquerade, my most recent romantic- fantasy novel, the main characters, would spend their time in the bedroom every now and then. Fights, quarrels, making up were the scenes that’s usually played in the bedroom.

The characters too, would often have breakfast in bed, surrounded with luxurious bedroom furniture, but of course, they don’t dine in their bedroom day in, day out. That would sound lame and overdoing the romance between them.

Breakfasts, lunch and dinners were commonly done in the dining hall of their Mansion, the Darklord Mansion. I didn’t put much emphasize in the dining room furniture, though. As the dining room furniture serves it’s purpose where various monster fights ensues, and at some point of the story, dining room furnitures  were destroyed beyond words. Yes, it is safe to imagine that in Royal Masquerade, there are falling chandeliers as well as rampaging serpents in the dinning room, but I can assure you that there would be only romance and heated arguments in the bedroom scenes.

Cleffairy: Dreams are not only for sleeping.

My publishing misery: Royal Masquerade

Those who have been reading my blog would notice that as of late, I’ve been using the word ‘Masquerade’ terribly a lot in my blog. One might wonder what has gotten into Cleffairy that it made her somewhat masquerade fetish.

The truth is that Cleffairy didn’t contract a fetish for masquerade parties, but that is the title of Cleffairy’s latest book, entitled ‘Royal Masquerade’.

You may realized that as of late, I’ve been rather occupied and did not blog hop as often as before. Not so disturbing and not as noisy as before. All for a reason. It was because I’ve been terribly busy with the publishing process of my novel, Royal Masquerade. I’m telling you, publishing business is dirty, and damn tiring. It’s amazing that I could even take a breather out of it.

And after a long while, I finally received my proof copy of the book for my final inspection before publication. I might release it for publication somewhere in May 2010, and would be available in US and internationally. However, I have chosen not to make it available in Malaysian bookstores for various reasons. Privacy and a low profile life is one of the reason. :D  Plus, Malaysian publishers and agents are just soooooooooo cocky. 🙁 Got so fed up, and they give me a real headache and high blood pressure. I’m afraid I don’t have much patience with them anymore.

It’s a print on demand book. 😀 And since I have been torturing people with the word lately, I might as well let you folks have a glimpse on my latest novel. Do note that this is not a final product. The novel in the picture below is my own personal copy, and it is definitely not for sale. Feedbacks are most welcome and needed.

I received this a couple of days ago. It’s something that I have been waiting for since last month.

The parcel contains this…my novel… Royal Masquerade.

Nope… it’s not a hoax. The novel is real. Yes, that would mean those characters are real. They’re alive, inside my book. Astrea and Narcissus…they are both my creation.

😛 Check it out, check it out.

Anyway, this is just a short entry. I want to thank everyone who makes this happen. Thank you God, and those who encouraged me from beginning til the very end. Thank you so much. I feel so blessed.

Cleffairy: I’m now working on another novel. 😛

Quote from Royal Masquerade: Beyond lovers, they were rulers, born to protect their kingdoms. How to protect it from so far away? How to sleep with that knowledge?

Masquerade@Irenelim Fashion ep.2

This is the continuation of the previous story. Click HERE to read it.

And so, with the help of Astrea’s guardian cat and the beautiful good witch, the fairy princess finally made up her mind to choose the Rosette Neckline Silky Dress With Waist Tie from Irenelim Fashion online boutique after pondering on which dress she should wear to the masquerade.

Earlier on, she didn’t really know which dress she should choose, but in the end, a sense of deja vu washed through her when she saw that dress. It’s actually the same dress she wore back then when she was in her own realm. It was not sexy…it’s just plain and demure, almost fairy-like.

The dress she chose features an organza overlay embellished with an exquisite neckline topped with rosettes. Romantic and innocent. It was just like the dress that she have worn when she first met the devil king in the times before her memories were erased by the evil sorceress. Something just tugged to her heart to get that dress, despite the fact that other dresser are much more sexier would get more attention from the crowds.

The dress was delivered to her just before the masquerade, and without further ado, she puts on the dress that came from Irenelim Fashion, and rushed to the masquerade.

Unlike Cinderella, Astrea were not late to the masquerade. In fact, she was punctual, and there was a crowd of horny ladies with sexy, revealing dresses who lusts after Narcissus, the one whose heart actually belongs to her.

After five minutes being in the masquerade, Astrea felt uncomfortable with the snickering around her. The people who were attending the masquerade said she was too plain, and a girl like her shouldn’t be attending such a posh event hosted by one of the town’s most eligible bachelor.

Narcissus who was in his human form, on the other hand, were completely bored with the mortals’ antics and wondered to himself why humans are so lusty and vain. For a the briefest moment, he contemplate on destroying the humans who attended the masquerade. It was completely an eyesore for him to see the mortals antics.

Then he caught a glimpse of something familiar. A petite figure that stood in front of a door, contemplating to leave and she resembles his fairy princess. His heart skipped a few beat before restarting with a resounding thud. That’s her! That’s Astrea, the love of his life, his Queen, the one who vowed to love him til her soul is no more and she was about to walk away from him before he could even have the chance to get close to her. He couldn’t be wrong. He could recognize her anywhere, despite the fact that she hid her face beneath the masquerade mask.

Alarmed, Narcissus made way towards her in order to stop her from leaving the mansion, but much to his chagrin, the mortals who were attending the masquerade began to flock him, thinking that they will have a chance with him as long as they danced with him.

Feeling insufficient and self conscious, Astrea turn around to leave, but the good witch appeared out of nowhere and stopped her from leaving. The good witch told her that she would regret if she leave, and that the love that she craved for all this while is just a few steps away.

Astrea laughed, almost mirthlessly at the witch’s words. She told the witch bitterly that nobody would ever want a plain girl like her. Finally escaping the mortals, Narcissus finally managed to get to where she was standing, just in time to hear the conversation between Astrea and the beautiful witch.

“You could never be plain, princess…” Narcissus said as he held a single stalk of rose in his hands and offered it to her.

“Would you honour me with a dance?” he then asked her, bewitching her completely. Absent- mindedly, as if under an enchantment, she agreed, earning gasps of disbelief from the people around her. Envious whispers were on air, but both of them take no heed of it.

They dance the night away in each other’s arms, never wanting the night to be over and wishing that time could just stop for both of them.

The witch who was present at all time watched thoughtfully, hoping hard that they would end up together.

So… ladies and gentlemen… did they end up together? Did Astrea’s memories return to her and did Narcissus managed to win her heart all over again? Only time will tell, but for what it’s worth, thanks to the efficiency of Irenelim Fashion online boutique’s crew, the fairy princess managed to go to the masquerade without hassle. You might want to check them out… who knows you’ll get yourself a magical time of your life with a little bit of their help?

Cleffairy: This is just a teaser. In the real Royal Masquerade, Narcissus never did pursue Astrea that way; by hosting a masquerade. He hired her as a live in nurse instead, and they were already in a relationship when they attended a masquerade. Do note that this is not a paid post, but rather a creative review of Irenelim Fashion products and service. Kindly head over to their webbie to find out more about them.

Masquerade@Irenelim Fashion

Not so long ago, in a place not so far away, there lived a fairy princess. Her name was Astrea. She fell in love with someone she’s not supposed to…A Devil King by the name of Narcissus. Their love was forbidden, and they were not supposed to be together. Yet, they went against the law of their kingdoms and gets married anyway.

The evil sorceress who was supposed to be Narcissus’s betrothed was infuriated, and she casts a spell on the beautiful fairy princess on their wedding night. She was condemned to forget him for all eternity and she was sent to Earth to live the life of a mortal young woman.

Unwilling to let go of her, Narcissus swore to break the spell and followed her to Earth to reclaim her all over again. Years pass by, and try as he might, he couldn’t find her, and so, he decided to host a masquerade and invite every single ladies to it, hoping that his beloved would somehow appear in the masquerade.

The fairy princess happened to find out about the masquerade that the Devil King was hosting, and she was completely intrigue by it, and so, she wander the street, slightly lost, as she doesn’t have anything suitable to wear.

And as Astrea absent-mindedly walk on the street, she bumped into a witch. This witch is a modern witch who happens to work for an online boutique known as Irenelim Fashion. Seeing the princess’s troubled expression, the witch asked the princess what’s bothering her, and so, the princess told the kind witch that she wanted to attend the masquerade that will be held soon, but she have nothing suitable to wear, and it’s unlikely that she’ll be able to attend it as she’s completely broke.

The witch then cackled with joyful laughter and told the princess that she bumped into the right person, cuz Irenelim Fashion is having a campaign that’s known as the Witch Project, and if goes to the witch’s website, she’ll get further instruction from there on how to get a free dress from Irenelim Fashion.

And so, the princess went to check out Irenelim Fashion’s website as advised by the kind, beautiful witch, and she was completely in awe that the online boutique spoils the buyers with choice. Irenelim is an online boutique that sells many beautiful clothing fit for a princess.

The princess didn’t know which dress to choose for herself to attend the masquerade. Should she choose this?

This

Or

This?

The princess didn’t know, as all of the dresses are beautiful, and she’s completely amazed that they’re all at an affordable price as well.

Ah, yes… ladies and gentlemen, the princess did not know which dress should she choose for herself. Should she choose something sexy? Or something sweet? Will she get the perfect dress for the masquerade? Will her beloved recognize her in her dazzling dress as she hid her face beneath a mask? Will they be reunited again?

Stay tune to find out which dress the princess will choose and if she finally gets her happily ever after in the next installment of Masquerade@Irenelim Fashion.

Cleffairy: The teaser above is loosely based on my latest novel, A Royal Masquerade that will be available for purchase soon in the US. I’ll be blogging about it soon, but for now, kindly check out Irenelim Fashion, and find your own little magic over there. 😀
