I was chilling out with my friends. And then out of the sudden, the hateful topic came up again.

 photo IMG-20150129-WA0039_zpsd2ljbijl.jpg

My friends asked me again and again why is that I don’t have a boyfriend, and getting tired and fed up of this question being directed to me over and over again during gatherings and chilling out sessions, I jokingly said, “I don’t want a boyfriend. I just want to get married. If there is a man who could make me a thousand paper stars in three days, I would marry him the moment when I received the thousandth paper star.”

My friends did not believe a single bit of what I said, but I assured them that is what I really will do if I get a thousand paper stars. All who were present bursts out laughing at my declaration.

Little did I know that I will soon regret what I have said that very day. I shouldn’t have made a joke of my own happiness and future. I should not have made promises I did not intend to keep.

3 days later, I received a package. Curious, I quickly tore away the wrapping paper and lifted the lid of the box.
 photo PhotoGrid_1422628264356_zpsc1hywng5.jpg
Paper stars filled the box. A thousand of them I bet. That was probably the most heart-stopping and the most embarrassing moment in my life! I looked into the box and found a beautifully written letter among the paper stars:

“I am very sorry but I heard what you said the other day, so I made these paper stars for you. I hope you will like it. I would like to meet you next week, Sunday, 7.00pm, at the same restaurant you made the promise. I’ll be wearing Tripda wristband on both of my wrist.”

The letter has no signature on it, but the words were simple and beautifully written.

 photo IMG_20150208_015031_zpsgabgkdwk.jpg

Enclosed in the envelope, there was Tripda wristbands. They’re funky and cute. Under ordinary circumstances I would appreciate the accessories but
I was so stressed and depressed the following days. I was barely functional. The once cheerful me was there no more.

Sunday came and when I reached our meeting place, I saw him there. Wearing flashy Tripda’s wristbands on both of his wrist. Identical to the ones he enclosed with the letter. He was smiling at me.

But I did not smile back. I walked towards him, lifting my eyes to his. Loathe. I feel loathe when I first saw him. I did not know who he is although he looks terribly familiar.

After a considerably long time, he gave me his contact and introduced himself to me. I discovered that he’s actually a Tripda’s user, and has apparently carpooled with me once as a driver, but I never did pay attention to him although we have exchanged business card while we were carpooling as my girlfriends were there too and we were busy gossiping during the trip.

“Those paper stars took me 3 days to make, and my hand is still burning now.”he said, snapping me out of my reverie.

“But you also got what you want.” I retorted coldly. If looks could kill, I have no doubt that he would have died on the spot. I was practically staring daggers.

“I just want to be friend with you.” was his solemn respond.

“Why not other way but this? Why did you eavesdrop the other day and sent me the paper stars?” was my response.

I was very emotional at the moment, I was so angry, and I feel like hitting him on the spot.

“I am sorry, I won’t make you promise me anything.” he tried to soothe my anger, but that made me even more mad.

“You, what do you mean? Did you mean to trick me or insult me?” I turned and ran away from him, with tears clouding my eyes. It was too much. I decided that enough is enough.

“Wait! I’m sorry, but believe me, I didn’t mean anything. I just want to be your friend since we carpooled together. Please count your paper stars, please?” he shouted from afar and what he said echoed in my head.

I couldn’t forget what he said, and so, when I went back, I grabbed the box through my tears and I started to count those paper stars. I did not know why I counted them in the first place, nor did I know why I am doing a meaningless task, but by the time I finished counting, there was only nine hundred and ninety-nine. I thought I must have made a mistake. I must have counted wrongly. Again, again, nine hundred and ninety-nine. I counted the third and fourth time, nine hundred and ninety-nine, the same result. Relief washed over me.

A few days later, I decided to apologize for being rude to him. And so I requested to meet up with him to apologize.

“I just happened to be there and caught your joke with your friends. I only wanted to make a joke out of it, but I didn’t know you would take it that seriously. But trust me, I just want to be your friend. I’ve noticed you hanging out at the restaurant a couple of times now, but I did not know how to approach you.”

“How-how is your hand?” was the only thing I could managed that time. He merely shrugged in response.

 photo PhotoGrid_1422514120981_zpstfcgpqjo.jpg

We looked up, both smiling and looking at each other the same time. At that moment, I suddenly realised that he is actually a very handsome young man, broad shoulder, tall feature, jet black hair and mysterious pair of eyes hidden behind sunglasses.

Despite a dramatic start, he made my heart beat faster. Soon enough, our relationship developed further and further, we and both fell in love.

But we live quite far apart. And neither of us likes to drive much, so whenever we go on dates, we used Tripda to get to each other.

 photo IMG-20150129-WA0031_zpst7ibj1m7.jpg
Money was quite an issue for us, and carpooling via Tripda is the best way for us to commute to each other.

You must be wondering what Tripda is by now, as I have been mentioning about it plenty of times by now.

So here’s sharing with you what it is. Tripda is an online carpooling platform  that connects drivers commuting with empty seats in their cars and passengers heading the same way.
 photo IMG-20150129-WA0035_zpsodmfl9lz.jpg

Tripda aims to transform carpooling into a viable transportation alternative, so both driver and passenger(s) can share the cost of the trip, while meeting like-minded friends along the way, reducing traffic congestion and preserving the environment. As long as the car still have empty seats available, you will be able to go with about with the drivers who are offering the ride without taking public transport and even your own transport. Wonderful, isn’t it? You pay less for the extra miles that you are going.

Unlike other form of transportation, Tripda is strictly cost-sharing. Which means, you only pay for the cost of the ride with the people you carpooled with.

 photo IMG-20150129-WA0034_zpspecv2bxx.jpg

Tripda focuses on long distance journeys and operates on the premise of cost sharing rather than the profit making basis. Besides the cost savings, users of Tripda benefit from the opportunity to make new friendships that will last far beyond the duration of the trip itself. In my case…my romantic relationship start with Tripda.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-29-56_zps2i7ej8pb.png

Tripda is fairly easy to use. All you have to do is go to the website www.tripda.com.my or the mobile app (Android or iOS), login with your Facebook account and choose if you are looking for a ride or if you like to offer a ride.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-30-21_zpsdbp8y5cy.png

You then can type in your destination and when you would like to travel, or if you are ‘hitching’ a ride, check when those offering rides are travelling.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-32-29_zpsge5vmayj.png

Find a ride to your preferred destination.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-36-51_zpshw8uk739.png

Check for drivers offering the ride to your preferred location and personal preferences.

 photo PhotoGrid_1423011918331_zpsbgpkes8r.jpg

You can pick your travel buddy on Tripda base on things like how much you want to pay, whether they like to talk or not, car comfort level, their taste in music and so on.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-42-21_zpshskyxwgi.png

Once you have checked out your potential driver and is all right with their terms and pricing, simply click ‘Book Now’. Don’t worry about having to pay extra for your ride. There is a limitation on the pricing limit. Drivers cannot make profit out of rides.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-42-36_zpsekydhfj8.png

Your application for the ride will be submitted to the driver for approval.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-46-55_zpsxjjgyty2.png

You will be notified via apps/email/SMS once the driver approved your request for a ride.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-45-05_zps2rgcsrb1.png

And you will be able to see the trip’s detail at the ‘My Trip’ tab once your request for a ride have been approved.

 photo Screenshot_2015-02-04-02-48-26_zpsb9wiskw3.png

Tripda apps also have a build in messaging system that you can use to communicate with the driver before the ride, so if you are worried, you can always communicate with your driver or passenger before your trip.

Basically, this is step by step guide on how to use Tripda:

1. Register by using your Facebook account.
2. Choose whether you are offering a ride or looking for a ride.
3. Select your trip detail or select a trip that is most convenient for you.
4. Once you have done all the steps above, Tripda will connect you with your ride buddies and you are good to go for your trips.
5. Rate your ride buddies after the trip and you will both earn reputation points.

There is plenty of advantages of using Tripda, among them are:

*Greatly reduces traveling cost.
*Greatly reduces fuel expenses and save on toll, especially during long journeys.
*Reduces the stress of driving everyday and greatly increases the ease of commuting.
*You have company while driving and Tripda verifies the identity of  drivers and passengers in several ways and runs a variety of checks to ensure your privacy and security, although, in my case I did not really pay attention during the first time.
*You can choose who you want to ride with or not.
*You can communicate via a messaging system with the person you are carpooling with before the trip.
* You can share your rides with friends on Facebook to let you know where you are going as a security measure, or keep your trip completely private if you don’t want yourselves to be traced while you are riding with another Tripda user.

Tripda also have a Ladies Only ride feature. This option allows ladies to travel only with other ladies. This way, a greater sense of trust and security can be achieved among ladies who travel alone or with company, making Tripda a trustworthy apps to use.

Below is a guide on how it works for both lady passengers and drivers:

Lady Drivers
If you’re a female driver and want to offer a ride to other females only, you will find the option “Ladies Only” when you create a trip. When you select this option, only ladies can request for a ride with you.

Lady Passengers
If you’re a female passenger looking for a trip only with females in the car, you can select the “Ladies Only” filter in order to see all the rides that will strictly have only ladies.

Men cannot book a Ladies Only ride as Tripda have gender filter.

 photo PhotoGrid_1422990531290_zpsvwfnqbvl.jpg

Now, ever since I’m no longer available for romantic relationship and is not interested in having men with me while I carpool, I only opt for a Ladies-only ride for women who prefer to carpool with other women where I don’t have to be apprehensive about riding with strange men.

 photo IMG_20150128_171105_1_zpsrhddbyfr.jpg

Ladies Only Ride 🙂

The love of my life can be quite possessive at times…so yes…ladies only Tripda trip for me whenever it is my turn to make a trip to meet him.
 photo IMG-20150130-WA0000_zpsewjnhthj.jpg

Regardless of my gender preference, the carpool sessions with Tripda drivers of my choice allowed me to make friends, and I ended up keeping in touch and being good friends with the drivers I took my trip with.

Check out the video of ‘carpoolfie’during trips by carpooling. 🙂

Anyway… back to my story…I didn’t realized when, I started to long for the last paper star. On every special dates, every special holiday trips that we took together, I started hoping that what he held in his hands was not beautiful roses, or chocolates, or gifts, but one last paper star, the thousandth paper star.

Finally the day that I waited came. He gave me the last paper star…the paper star that I have been longing for.

Now, thinking back, he had the power and ability to make that last paper star any time he wanted and made me fulfil my promise there and then, but he didn’t. He took the advantage of the thousandth paper star and win my heart in time with his love and patience.

I may received the last paper star a few years late, but I kept the promise I made regardless, not because I have to, but because I’ve fallen in love with him.

My January 2015 Recap

It’s 21st January 2015 as of writing. Time indeed flies and in the blink of the eyes, we’ll be going to the second month of the year. I usually do a recap of the things that I have done at the end of the year but this year I want to do something different and review the things that I have done or achieved by the end of the month.

It is not the end of the month yet, per se, but my January 2015 have been rather happening, so here’s sharing with you what I’ve done and achieved so far:

1. Kicked-start the year by having a holiday with hubby and son up North instead of staying in KL. The trip was not only fruitful but enjoyable. Nice way to start the year, definitely, by recharging our batteries and going full speed afterwards.

2. Realized that efforts should be made to look beautiful and staying youthful so I visited an Aesthetic clinic in Bangsar upon recommendations from friends for possible treatments and decided to go for it.

 photo IMG_20150112_164530_zps66zmbazg.jpg

RMT or better known as Reborn Medical Clinic, Bangsar Kuala Lumpur. This is a fairly new aesthetic clinic that’s offering plenty of aesthetic treatments and procedures at a very reasonable price.

My first rooftop dining experience at The Sky at One City. Great food, great ambiance, definitely a must visit.

That’s about it for my January 2015 so far and it’s not even a wrap yet. There is plenty more things on schedule in my schedule and things have been rather happening and hectic despite the fact that I significantly reduced attending events all around KL. So yes…til then. Do keep a lookout for my in depth posts on all the things I have been doing, in no particular order, that is. 🙂

Twin Travel and eWana FM Bowling Tournament

What do you usually do on the weekends? I used to just stay home and do nothing, feeling bored and pretty much useless, but these days I try to let down my hair a bit and do things that will make me feel good, either attending events, spend time with my loved ones or attend self improvement classes.

Last week I did something very different though. Instead of going on trips, attending events or going for classes, I compete in a bowling tournament instead.

 photo IMG_20150118_102929_zpsf4b1hezp.jpg

The bowling tournament was jointly organized by Twin Travel and eWana FM at Wangsa Bowl, Wangsa Walk Mall Kuala Lumpur.

 photo IMG_20150118_103334_zps1blqslpo.jpg

I’ll be frank with you. It’s been more than a decade since I last bowled. If my memory serves me right, the last time I went bowling was during my college years. Went with my boyfriend (now husband) whenever we are on dates.

Was a bit rusty, of course, but before the actual day…I did went bowling with friends to practice a lil. 😛 There’s 3 person in one team and there are 30 participating contestants that day. My team consists of myself, my husband and my unofficial coach, Hilman. 🙂

Here’s sharing with you the pictures we took that day.

Had a shock of the century when my friend DJ Kozz and his team dolled up for the game. 😛 Just look at their bling bling outfit. And guess what? They even do catwalk and dance each time they bowled the ball at the alley. Talk about having fun! 😛

The score sheet. 😉

 photo IMG-20150118-WA0033_zpsxlcsgpdf.jpg

Well, my team did not win anything…but my friends’ team, won best dressed category and we all had a good laugh over that. It was indeed a fun time out with friends, and it is indeed nice to have a walk down the memory lane to the times my husband and I was still young and had loads of fun with each other on our dates.

An Evening with Rynn Lim at Klang Parade

Apart from going on a holiday with my husband and son to kick-start the new year, things have been rather quiet…and a bit boring. But that’s okay. I guess it’s just the calm before the storm. 😉 No pun intended though.

This is a bit backdated, but here’s sharing what I did just before 2014 ends: hanging out with my husband and son as well as blogger friend Wendy at Klang Parade.

Klang Parade underwent a massive makeover  and was refurbished since June 2013, introducing structural additions to the mall including two new brightly lit atriums drenched in natural sunlight during the day, new travelators and a sense of serenity. A product of very careful planning and design by the mall ‘s owners ARA Asset Management Limited, a new al fresco food and beverage area has been established in front of Klang Parade, replacing spaces previously used as a carpark ramp.

Being one of the largest malls in the area, Klang Parade definitely has gone the distance to guarantee a pleasant shopping experience for shoppers like me, paying attention to the assortment of international and regional brands open to the public.

So, what did we do there? Well, we were there to party and have fun, of course. 😉

 photo IMG_415905085301622_zpsasurvqmy.jpeg

There was plenty of performance during Klang Parade year end party, with performance from various artists like Rejuvenate Dance Crew etc. But one that tops the list is the exclusive performance by Rynn Lim (Lin Yu Zhong), a Malaysian born Taiwan pop idol.

Here’s sharing with you his performance that day.

 photo IMG_415827065533232_zpspunwgkw1.jpeg
There was also a meet and greet and photography session for media and fans that day.

Back during my college years, Rynn is one of my idol. So this is quite a good experience for me, to be able to see him perform live and interact with him personally. 🙂

Klang Parade certainly have quite some things to offer. And I guess it will soon be a regular lurk for me.

Energizer Power of Giving: Giving the Gifts of Playtime to Underprivileged Children

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I am not very sure which one I am, but I do know one thing; I have a lot of friends from all walks of life. Something I don’t always see as good as not everyone of them emit aura that will motivate me or uplifts me in a positive manner. I know this is not a very nice thing to say, but having a lot of friends is meaningless if they are not going to bring out the best in you.

Having it terribly rough in 2013 where life in whole is concerned, I made sure I changed 360′ in 2014. I am determined to be a happier person…be a better version myself every single day.

I believe in the Law of Attractions; mix with people who emits positive energy, and you will benefit from it and be positive too. Yes. The trick to be a better and happier person, is to be with people who will inspire and motivate me. And so, realizing how important it is for me to change, instead of continuing to stick around with people who constantly pull me down, I started to change my circle of friends.

Instead of mixing with people who commented negatively on the things that I do, I started to mingle with those who doesn’t judge me and says kind words whenever I share my daily lives with them. I love taking photos and sharing pictures of myself and my son, so instead of sharing it with ‘friends’ who comment negatively about it regardless of how lovely the pictures turned out, I restrict myself and only will share my selfies with those who says kind words about it and share with me their beautiful photos in return. And instead of hanging around with people who de-motivate me and tells me that I am not good enough whenever I want to attempt something like writing contests, cooking contests, singing in public and whatnot, I stick to those who encourage me and pray for my success, even when they know I am not really good at it.

As a result…I feel much happier and a much beautiful person. And it shows. 🙂

One would have said that these are small matter. But I beg to differ. Weeding out negative, unsupportive people from my life made a HUGE difference. I accomplished much more with positive and supportive people in my life. Having positive friends in my life made me do so many things that I never dreamed of doing before in my life; traveling the country, participating in contests and competitions and actually wins it, share the songs I sing in public on various social media, and the most recent one, doing charity works that benefits underprivileged children during Energizer Power of Giving event in 1Utama. It feels so good, and please, do allow me to share all the positive energy that I felt that day with all of you here. 🙂

A few weeks ago, I spotted something interesting on Energizer Malaysia FB page; Energizer will be buying RM20,000 worth of toys from Hamleys to give away to underprivileged children from Kiwanis Malaysia and they’re asking the public to donate batteries to power up the toys. Apart from buying batteries to power up the battery operated toys for the children, the public are also encouraged to take a pledge to do nice things  here –>https://www.facebook.com/EnergizerMY/app_934223696607703

Apart from buying batteries to power up the toys, my pledge was to donate my old books and spread positive  energy by singing. 🙂 So I did. If you are my friend on Facebook or follower on my instagram, you would notice the hashtags #positivenergy ,  #energizerMY and#energizerpowerofgiving. It is actually for this campaign where I shared my singing and excitements for the actual event.

My bff, blogger Wendy and Miera are especially excited about what I was doing and was absolutely supportive about it too to the point that they came with me during the actual day to help me make good of my pledge and help me shop for toys for the children of Kiwanis Malaysia.

Here is my friends, Wendy and Miera, all hyped up with positive energy to play Santarina with me. 🙂

Energizer batteries on sale…you may buy em for yourself, and also give em up for donations. Good thing about the Energizer batteries is that they last longer and doesn’t ruin your devices as they do not leak. 🙂 Absolutely great for toys.

Children of Kiwanis Malaysia, playing around while waiting for their gifts. 🙂 Lovely kids. 🙂

Anyway, chosen individuals and members of the media were given RM200 vouchers to spend and select battery operated toys for the Kiwanis Malaysia’s children from Hamleys.

Here’s the huge gift from Hamleys containing some battery operated toys and Energizer batteries that my friend Miera selected for the child that she was assigned to. Sorry… Although I was given the exact same voucher to buy gifts for the kids, there is no picture of me. I’m somewhat shopaholic. Let me loose to shop, and I will forget everything and just shop.

Klang Parade Bloggers’ Day Out

From the words of a famous Disney character, Stitch ‘Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten.’. Yes indeed family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. I’m a family woman and a firm believer of spending time with my family, so I’ll grab every single opportunity that I have to spend fun, quality time with them.

Speaking of fun, quality time, my family and I were given a chance to spend some quality time together in the newly revamped Klang Parade along with a bunch of other bloggers in their Bloggers’ Day Out last Saturday.

There was a surprise funky dance performance to welcome us too. 8tv’s  Showdown and Astro Battleground dance competition, Rejuvenate Dance Crew, showcased breathtakingly energetic movements, just outside their soon to be opened dance studio, called the Peanut Butter Studio.

Awesome, don’t you think? Should you want to learn how to dance like them, you could look up the Peanut Butter Dance Studio in Klang Parade soon. 😉

 photo PC137170_zpsvfp8usbs.jpg

After all the funky dancing excitements, we were ushered to Firezone Family KTV. The Firezone Family KTV is located on the 5th floor.

 photo IMG-20141214-WA0030_zpszmegzczu.jpg

There’s plenty of rooms in the Firezone Family KTV, a one stop family KTV with Wifi, Cafe, Snack & Pool KTV. Firezone Family KTV in Klang Parade has 44 units of small, medium, VIP and VVIP rooms.

 photo IMG_20141213_171750_1_zpsujmztriw.jpg

1 hour of karaoke session for us bloggers was definitely not enough. Here’s girlfriend Wendy and Rane singing their hearts out. Song selections was pretty decent, I guess. Quite a safe bet if you are looking for a fun karaoke-ing time with family and friends.

 photo PhotoGrid_1418633482861_zpsbuvpa0jc.jpg

Snacks are readily available to order to in Firezone Family KTV. Not sure if it comes with the hourly karaoke packages, but do look it up if you ever drop by. Their pizzas is actually not bad. Pretty decent for a KTV.

Firezone Family KTV Klang Parade reservation No: +6-03-3359 6303.

After an hour of singing, we were let loose in Circus Circus Arcade on 4th floor.

 photo IMG_20141213_180334_zpsnhqxub6t.jpg

While the Firezone Family KTV is mostly catered to teenagers and adults, the arcade on the other hand provides hours of entertainment for both small children and adults alike.

 photo IMG_20141213_181940_zpsg9wkzlwf.jpg

Arcade video games are readily available. I was a tad disappointed to discover that my all time favourite arcade game, Tekken is not there, but I had a go at the classic Street Fighter arcade video game machine nevertheless. Brings back the memories of yesteryears, really. 😉 I used to play similar games when in was still a teenager.

Here’s me, having fun….after going a few rounds at the Street Fighter arcade video game machine.

After indulging our inner children at the Circus Circus Arcade, it’s time for the Klang Parade Mall Hunt. Bloggers were assigned into three groups for the mall hunt, and here’s my first stop. Tune Talk Service Centre. We were introduced to the Tune Talk services and packages and was given an assignment, which is to pose crazily before we were given our very own Tune Talk simpack. 😉 I was a very happy girl…as part of the number for my simpack and my husband’s simpack is 520. Our anniversary date, and also means ‘I love you’ in Cantonese.

 photo IMG_20141213_185819_zpssk6dbs8x.jpg

After unleashing our inner models, we head out for our second station; the Fresh Fruits stall where our task was to make our very own skewered fruits.

 photo IMG_20141213_185708_zps6pde0vna.jpg

Here’s my good friend Rane with her fruit stick. Will you just look at that! So much fruity goodness!

 photo IMG-20141214-WA0029_zpsd0xx1fv6.jpg

Third station is the I.GF Nail Spa where you could have some R&R doing pedicure and manicure.

 photo IMG_20141213_190825_zpsqoqjafbf.jpg

Cute setting for manicure session, don’t you think? Very feminine and girlish.

Comfy chairs for pedicure sessions.

 photo IMG_20141213_191801_zpsecyc7hdl.jpg

There was not much time allocated for us here so we were told that we could only get one or two of our nails done instead of the entire set. So here’s me, getting my nail art done.

 photo IMG_20141213_193618_zpsk6a4j4rp.jpg

My husband joined the fun too and get his done too. Here’s us, fingers intertwined. 😉 A note on their service: A first class service with attentive staff and nail artists. Highly recommended and a must visit if you’re into nail arts. Will be writing more about them soon, you can count on it.

 photo IMG-20141214-WA0010_zps0ysvkt5j.jpg

By the time we are done with our nail art at the nail spa, we were famished and headed over to the food court in the vicinity of the Klang Parade Mall to fill up our tummy. It was about 8.00pm.

The Next Food Junction. There was plenty of stalls in the food court, separated into two, the Halal section and the Non-Halal section.
 photo 10850089_908734955803394_8988241569521850914_n_zpsx1i05fe8.jpg
The non-Halal section

I’ll be frank with you. The food court is rather disappointing in terms of food availability and service. Service is rather slow at the Halal section even though it was not really crowded. I suppose the staff was not really trained in handling the crowd yet, especially the drinks stall. Customers were not ushered to wait at one side of the counter for their drinks after taking their orders. Instead, they were allowed to wait in queue, resulting in massive queues and long wait by other customers in line who want to place orders. I seriously think this ought to be rectified.

Some of the stalls were also already out of food by 8.00pm. 🙁 I wanted to have a go at the Japanese food and try their Bento set and sushi, but I was informed that they have no more rice and they are not going to cook anymore. Uhh…what? It was only 8pm and I assume the food court closes at 10pm when the mall closes. How could you not have cooked to cater more diners? It’s really a shame, so I had chicken rice at their neighbouring stall instead.

 photo IMG_20141213_201842_zpsd70cvtnr.jpg

Taste- wise, the chicken rice was mediocre. Portion wasn’t that big. Nothing to complain, nothing to shout about either. Price-wise…it was economical and affordable.

While the experience at the food court was not so pleasant in terms of food availability and service, I have no other complaints. It is nice to note that Klang Parade divide the halal and non halal section and I noticed that cleanliness is top notch. Having said that, I am grateful nevertheless that I managed to get my tummy filled.

 photo PC137396_zpsmeioe22s.jpg

After dinner we proceed to the Upin and Ipin meet and greet and had photography session there. My son had loads of fun meeting the animated characters live, and our nights ends there.

Overall… We had loads of fun, and I suppose I will be visiting again to check out what else they have to offer in Klang Parade Mall. I have yet to explore the entire mall yet…and I’m looking forward to spend time with my family there again.

Glittering Christmas Wonderland at Parkroyal Kuala Lumpur

 photo IMG_20141205_213647_zpswjzdoklo.jpg

I visited PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur last week and was pleased to discover that the Lobby at PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur was transformed into a glittering wonderland with children and adults anticipating the family-themed Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The Festive season at PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur was welcomed by hotel guests, corporate clients, The Alice Smith School carollers and children from the Stepping Stones Living Centre at the hotel’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This event also signified the initiation of their annual fundraising campaign in aid of Stepping Stones Living Centre.
photo Stepping Stones Living Centre and The Alice Smith School have a group photo with PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur associates_zpsdf0pfylp.jpg
The ceremony began with The Alice Smith School carollers taking centre stage with ‘Frosty the Snowman’ which caught the attention of the little ones especially. Santa Claus and his Santarinas was seen going around greeting guests with candies and chocolates from Santa’s red sack. The Alice Smith School then got the Christmas mood going with ‘White Christmas’, ‘Rudolf’, ‘Jingle Bel s’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’. The evening continued with Mr. Mark Losi, General Manager of PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur welcoming and thanking everyone for being present to witness the eventful occasion.
photo Mrs. Rosalynn and Mr. Michael Turvey generously made their contributions_zpsdaiobjbl.jpg

Launching the fundraising campaign, Mr. Losi made the first contribution towards Stepping Stone Living Centre. Stepping Stones Living Centre was founded in 1998 by Pastor Johnson. It was set up to take care of children, single mothers and senior citizens from needy and broken homes. The children would like to have new uniforms, shoes and clothes for the New Year. To fulfil their Christmas wishes, contributors can choose an envelope from our Christmas tree at the lobby. Each envelope has a child’s name, their wish and the value of each item. Just donate the amount stated into the envelope and drop it into the donation box right next to the Christmas tree. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, diners will be entitled to a lucky dip at RM20 per person. Proceeds will be channelled towards Stepping Stones Living Centre. Your generous contributions will ensure a memorable Christmas and New Year for these children.

Together with Christina, a nine-year-old girl from Stepping Stones Living Centre, they then lit up the Christmas tree, officiating the beginning of ‘A Family Christmas Affair’ festivities at PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur.

 photo IMG_20141205_213824_zpsy08wxvmh.jpg
The Christmas tree was brightly lit up with white LED lights by Mr. Losi and Christina using a silver wand.By the tree was a sliver sleigh and four glittering reindeers stocked with Christmas goodies. The ceremony continued with the children of Stepping Stones Living Centre singing classic Christmas carols such as ‘Joy to the World’ and ‘Away in a Manger’. They were then treated to a delectable buffet dinner before making their way home.

 photo PhotoGrid_1418283064120_zpspexhypvq.jpg

Corporate clients were also invited to dine to a Christmas Family Buffet Dinner at Chatz Brasserie, where generous choices of dishes were prepared for them. Among them were Roasted Turkey with Bread Stuffing and served with Giblet and Cranberry Sauce, Roasted Sirloin with Green Peppercorn Sauce, Grilled Seafood, Christmas Fruitcake, Cranberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Log Cake and Mince Pie, e43das well as exquisite selections from the newly-opened Kurata Japanese Fine Dining.

Get the First Whiff of Romance with Enchanteur Paris

To date, I’m married for 12 years, but I learned things the hard way not to take things for granted when it comes to relationships. Marriage can be quite boring and routine, so I make it a point to not stop dating with my husband. I learned how to say yes to my husband’s suggestion more than no these days and I feel much more connected to him than ever, against all odds. 🙂

Regardless of how busy and packed our schedule are, my husband and I still try to make time for each other. More often than not, we go for teatime break together…or a dinner date during the weekdays. I may not say it out loud, but I do appreciate him making effort to spend quality time with me every now and then.

Surprise lunch visit or dinner dates…we do often. But movie dates is pretty much rare as we usually just turn on some movies and cuddle up to watch it in the comfort of our own home.

 photo IMG_20141210_125915_zpsp9ggwdny.jpg

And so, when I received complimentary TGV Cinema tickets for the newly released movie, Penguins of Madagascar; couple seats, no less, courtesy of ENCHANTEUR Malaysia, I was thrilled. This means I have an excuse to have a movie date with my husband. It’s been awhile since we actually watched movie together. 🙂

 photo IMG_20141210_125339_zpstrsbjrh_edit_1418187403011_zpsf44tl3yu.jpg
ENCHANTEUR Malaysia not only sent me movie tickets, but three bottles of their newly launched perfume for me to wear while I’m on a date with my husband. 🙂

I immediately felt giddy and all excited for my movie date. 😉 Feeling like a princess that day, I dolled up and sprayed on one of the perfume, so that my husband could get a whiff of me. 😉

The perfume, smells nice, to be honest. It uplift my mood and made me feel romantic. If you’re not familiar with the brand, I can assure you that ENCHANTEUR is one of the leading mass market fragrance brands and it is well known to evolve with time in not just developing enticing new fragrances but also enhances its reach and engagement with the consumers.

Famed for its French inspired fine fragrances that ignite the flames of romance, ENCHANTEUR launched an advertising campaign which will tease the senses as part of its new fragrance introduction.

For the first time ever Malaysians will get to experience a multi-sensorial commercial that will evoke the senses by way of “Sight”, Sound” and “Smell”.

Audiences are now able to get a whiff of the fragrance being promoted as soon as the commercial is played in the cinema. This advertising campaign will be promoting the newly launched ENCHANTEUR PARIS EDT Fashionista and the commercial will be running for the next 3 months till February next year. Consumers can catch it at selected TGV Cinemas. So yes…my husband and I managed to get a whiff of the perfumes during our movie date last Saturday. 🙂 It was indeed a pleasant experience.

The Best of You Life Exhibition

Who are you? Who is the best of you?

These are the questions that were repeatedly asked during the launch of Julie’s Best of You Life Exhibition at The Curve recently.

The Best of You is a social awareness movement celebrating everyday heroes, began sought to inspire a supportive community that revels in everyday accomplishments and milestones no matter how big or small they are.

It called on the public to submit and share their personal and inspiring stories of people, things or experiences that have brought out the best in them.

 photo IMG_20141029_123734_zpsw5feivxp.jpg

This question was asked in many forms in the exhibition, verbally and via various artwork. ‘Who is she?’

Yes indeed who am I? Who am I to you? Am I someone important? Or someone insignificant in your life? I pondered to myself for a while. A simple but thought provoking question.

I am a woman, a daughter, a granddaughter, a wife, a lover, a mother, a sister, a friend…that is supposed to be the answer, isn’t it? That is how the world sees me. But take those away…what am I? Without my parents, my grandparents, my son, my husband, my sister, my friend, I won’t be all of those. I will be just… ‘Me’. And who is that, exactly?

I don’t usually take so long to write an article of my travels or the events that I have attended as a writer or a blogger, but this time, I did. The questions posed, although simple and rather straight forward, confused me. I realized I did not really know who I really am!

I took me awhile…to think, to do some soul searching, and I’m glad to say that I am ‘Me’, and what I do best is writing from the depth of my heart, so I guess, being able to write, and to touch people’s heart with my writing and stories is the best part of me.

And now that I have established that, let me share some inspiring exhibit items at The Best of You exhibition.

 photo IMG_20141029_123609_zpsstagow35.jpg

The movement received overwhelming response from not just the public but also local artists.

About 1,000 entries were uploaded by participants from Malaysia and Singapore, where 50 submissions from each country culminated in the Best of You Life Exhibition.

 photo IMG_20141029_124358_zpso0e9x5g7.jpg

Apart from exhibit items in the form of stories, photos and artworks, there was also a performance from various artists. 🙂

Other influencers for The Best of You movements includes actor Fizo Omar, TV host Owen Yap, world harmonica champion duo Aide and Evelyn, professional photographer Faizal Tan Sri Mustafa, radio deejay Sophia Chin, folk music singer Peggy Lai, among several others, with engagement from three private colleges and collaboration with Malaysian Chinese Photojournalist Association, Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang, and House of Hope and Light.

Basically, The Best of You movement highlighted the many seemingly small actions and achievements in our lives that were often neglected and forgotten.
The Best of You represents our best efforts and stem from the love we have our lives.

During the launch, I learned that it is important that we take time out to recognise those efforts and achievements in ourselves and others.

The Best of You is indeed an eye opening movement. It helps tp open up the eyes of the public to the things that are most often gone unnoticed.

I may have missed the chance to contribute for Best of You Movement and Life Exhibition this year but this will be an annual event by Julie’s, so I can always contribute for next year’s. 😉

If you are interested to participate, you could make your submissions in any creative medium — writing, art and design, photography or film and music and share it on www.bestofyou.my
