Another idiotic attempt to…

I’m getting pretty wary of things that’s going on in Malaysia these days. Can things get more idiotic and absurd? While my question is meant to be rhetoric, obviously the answer is yes. Banning of tomboys, and yoga…what’s next? I have no idea, but I am not going to talk about that today because I suspect that it will not do any good to my stress level or yours too. By chance (or was it accident?) I received an absurd random sms that says these exact words:

Pls 4ward msg ni pd sume org Islam.Skrg kristian sdg aktf d Srmbn, n Slngor n kian pesat ke ngr len. 1900 org paderi Mlayu yg br tiba dr Sgapore brada d sni Hti2 dgn air mineral

1)Al- baramkah

2) Al-Mansori

3)al-bistaria

4) al-Mansur

5)alMubarakh

6)al-Barakah

7)al-bestari

Air tsebut tlh d+dgn h0ly water. Tlg sbrknya kpd smua umat islam n shbt2. Ait ni blh m’ngkbtkn lidah keras@kelu untuk mybut klimah Allah.

For those who could not understand Malay language, the words above meant:

Please forward this sms to all Muslim. Christians are active in Seremban, Selangor, and making their progress to other states. 1900 Malay priests from Singapore are here. Be careful with the mineral water:

1)Al- baramkah

2) Al-Mansori

3)al-bistaria

4) al-Mansur

5)alMubarakh

6)al-Barakah

7)al-bestari

Those mineral water have been mixed with holy water. Please spread this to all Muslim. The water that’s mentioned would cause tongue to be tied and the drinker would be unable to say the word Allah.

Now, my precious readers, when I received the bloody sms, my reaction was to curse whoever was the original sender and the mastermind behind the ‘forward sms’ material. I felt that this is downright wrong and ridiculous. Isn’t this a form of defamation towards the above mentioned mineral water products? And most importantly, isn’t this some form of libel and slander to tarnish the image of other religion besides Islam? Is this not stoking racial and religious tension between the Muslim and Christians? Did the mastermind behind this ridiculous sms have visual evidence or something concrete to prove that the Malay-Christian priests from Singapore had done such thing? This is defamation at the very best, and what’s more, the authorities in Malaysia do not give a damn about such things being circulated in the sms world.

I wonder, what would happen if it’s the other way around, where the sms is defaming the Muslims and saying the Muslim did something very despicable to cause people from other religion’s faith to be faltered? Now, wouldn’t they start to feel the burn in their pretty assholes and goes berserk about it and start catching people and throwing them into ISA for insulting Malays and Islam and endangering the national security and public safety?

Mineral water contains many things, and a bottle of mineral water could contain traces of pee and shit for all I care, why not be concern of something that is unclean and harmful towards one’s health rather than be concern over something that is possibly a made up fiction to stoke racial and religious tension among two devotees of different faith or citizens of two different countries?

What’s most ridiculous about the sms is that it claimed that the above mentioned mineral water products were mixed with holy water and would caused Muslim’s faith to be erode and faltered. How ridiculous is that? Absolutely stupid! Absurd to the very core! Does one really have an absolute proof that the water was mixed with Holy Water by the Christians?

Telling me that by just by drinking some mineral water could cause your faith to be shaken is a bit too much for me. Does the Muslim’s faith in Malaysia so easily faltered? I’ve always believed that if one’s faith is strong enough, no matter what kind of water the person drank, he would still believe in his own religion. Tell me, tell me I am wrong about this! Tell me that the Muslims in Malaysia are so fickle minded that by merely drinking some mineral water rumoured to contain the mixture of Holy Water that has been blessed by Christians priest could destroy one’s faith. Does Holy Water contain potent drugs that could cause such thing to happen? No, bloody idiots. ‘Holy Water’ is actually just normal water, it does not contain any drugs that could possibly cause such thing, so why are you fretting about this if your faith is really strong?

I would possibly believe without having second thoughts if the contents in the chain sms informed me that the mentioned mineral water contains excessive amount of melamine that could be dangerous to health and would possibly cause death. And hell yes, I would also probably believe the sms if it informed me that the mineral water was drugged and would possibly paralyze the consumer from waist down, but I definitely refuse to believe in the foolish, absurd and ignorant allegation that the mineral water products was mixed with Holy Water by the Christians and the product would without fail will cause one’s faith to be completely destroyed.

Well, no matter what people would tell me or how they agree and choose to believe the sms, I would stand by my opinion that the sms that I received last night was meant not only to brainwash the Muslim to hate the Christians and tarnish other religion’s good image, but also paint a bad image of our neighbouring country and undermine our diplomatic relationship with them.

If the mineral water was mixed with Holy Water that has been blessed by a Christian priest and is really capable of damaging one’s faith, why not just tell the Muslims not to drink the above mentioned mineral water because it contain toxic waste? Wouldn’t it be more effective to scare everyone from drinking it? Clearly this is just a gimmick and a shallow attempt to make the Muslim and the Christians hate each other.

Cleffairy: This kind of slanderous smses ought to be stopped. Or two biggest religion in the world would never be at peace with each other. This is something that I would classified as psychological terrorism.

Why do you have to show it on TV?

I have always loved beautiful and romantic things, so gory and obscene things doesn’t sit very well with me. Two days ago, before going to work, I watched porn. At least that’s something I would disgustedly consider as porn, on national TV, no less.

In porn world, I could easily consider it as bondage, humiliation and orgy. What’s worst, it involves minor boys who are barely legal. Ah, the joy of watching a bunch of children being circumcised on national TV. Was it joy or horror? I’m not sure.

I’ve known that it’s a Muslim practice that having their small children circumsized for the purpose of hygiene, but is it a practice to document the children’s pain and agony while they are going though the process? Is humiliation part of Islam? I’m sure it’s not, but now I’m not sure anymore, seeing schools are having circumcision party, or in Malay language, they call it ‘Majlis berkhatan ramai-ramai’.  For those who are not aware of this, yes, some schools in Malaysia are doing this bloody thing, where they encourage boys to participate in it. What’s worst, the procedure of cutting the foreskin was not done in private, where only the doctor and the boy in question is involved, but it’s done in a bloody school hall, where the boys are completely exposed to spectator’s view. I would have fainted on the spot if I was a twelve years old school student who happens to pass by that area when they’re performing the procedure, no kidding.

Nothing in xxxwhatsoever.com could compare to watching children being circumsize in the school hall where plenty of boys being placed in separate makeshift bed made from school table. These boys are then held down by a couple of adults, men and women alike. As the adults hold down the reluctant boys, the circumsizer placed a ring or some sort on the boy’s penis and cut the foreskin off, ignoring the boy’s excruciating pain and screaming. I saw it on TV where parents chided their children, saying it’s not painful and stuff. How could it not be painful when someone cut your bloody penis skin off without giving any bloody painkillers to you? What irks me the most is the parents and the TV station have the cheek to record down entire procedure explicitly and broadcast the entire thing, including when the cutting is done.

I’m not questioning the Muslim’s practice for doing thing, I can’t be bothered, but I am questioning MALAYSIANS for doing this. So far, I haven’t seen any Muslim elsewhere armed with a camcorder when their children is being circumsize. The children in question must be humiliated, no doubt when their parents decided to record down their screaming and writhing in pain when their foreskin is being cut off. Bloody hell, why can’t you assholes just send your kids to clinics where the docs would give your kids anesthetic and perform the entire procedure in private without the kids trashing about and screaming in pain for the entire world to see? It would have spared the kids humiliation, pain and trauma. Does the word ‘modern medicine practice’ gives no meaning to you?

I really could not comprehend the logic and the rational of recording the circumcision procedure not for the sake of documentary, but for the sake of ‘nostalgic’ memory. I really doubt those boys would want to see themselves screaming and crying in pain on TV. I, for once, would not like my parents to record down a moment like that and broadcast it for the entire nation to see. To say I was horrified when I Isaw it on MHI, TV3 a couple of days ago was an understatement. I wouldn’t give a damn if the whole thing was shown on medical show as documentary or something, but morning breakfast show?

What is becoming to the culture where we’re modest, prim and proper? AND WHAT HAS BECOME OF OUR CENSORSHIP BOARD? Bloody hell, you won’t allow any tv station to show any kissing scene, and yet you can allow this gory scene involving children being circumsize shown on tv? Do you people have any idea how traumatizing such thing can be to some certain viewers, especially little children who happen to watch the show ?

Cleffairy: From now on, I’ll be more careful when I’m watching MHI. The viewer rate could have been 18-SX for all I care!

Malaysia Boleh? Tak Boleh!

Malaysians can do many amazing things. Our people has climbed Mount Everest, sail the seven seas, won a medal from Olympic Games, send some lad up to the space to enjoy some space ride for a couple of days, and many more. Yes indeed, we have the spirit that could make our people do many things that’s thought not possible to achieve. With Malaysia Boleh attitude, we definitely can achieve a lot of things, but there is one thing that can never be achieved by Malaysians, or certain community in Malaysia, which is liberating the orthodox mindset.

We can never freely or question national religion. That’s definitely one thing that is ‘Tak Boleh’ in Malaysia. Oh, yes, sir! That’s definitely one thing you can never question about. It’s stated LOUD AND BLOODY CLEAR in our smugly written, and always updated constitution. The religion is to be looked upon with such admiration and supremacy, whether you believe in it or not, or whether you like it or not. You have no other way to go about it but to like it. We are not to think otherwise of it or we’re definitely be asking for people to gut out your inner organs and suffer a slow and bloody death. Well, maybe that’s a way too gory description about it, but more or less, it’s something like it, since the religion cannot be question at all cost. It’s a godly decree that by all cost, you must obey. Question it once, then you’re a goner. It doesn’t matter if they are using religion to step the weaker ones, especially women on the head and laugh at them all the way to the next dimension.

And then there’s this, we are not ready to have two leaders from different major faith to sit together at the same table and discuss what they can do to improve the life of mankind instead of bickering and constantly be at each other’s throat on whose God is the ‘true’ God or who is supposed to reign supreme in this wretched world.

While the a Pope and an Imam elsewhere could sit down and on the same table and discuss non-religion related things such as solution to restore peace for the world, racial indiscrimination, starvation and what could religion do to influence mankind to be at peace with each other instead of stoking tension, I dare to imagine that Malaysian can never do that.

We are not ready for such discussion. And I dare to bet my whole year’s wages that not in a hundred years we will ever be ready for such discussion, where leaders of all religion puts their difference aside and discuss what’s plaguing the world and search for some resolve.

We’re not ready for that, indefinitely, because of the age-old thinking that has been instill to control our minds by people who lusts after power; that people of different religion holds different beliefs hence there are nothing in common between people who profess different faith.

We are taught that two major religion of the world are arch enemy, where one would always contradict each other. Certain people has always made sure that the two faith would not be united to resolve what has gone wrong in the world for the sake of mankind so that political gain could be achieved. We are always taught that when two leaders of different religion sits at the same table to discuss things, it will always be about changing or shaking one’s faith.

‘Malaysia Boleh’ in many things, but definitely ‘Tak Boleh’ in this area, and never will be. Mindset of the people are hard to change, as it has been in our heads for God knows how long. Oh! We are a fool for believing in such things.

How much had we missed for not being united in solving what is plaguing our men, women, children and future of the world? While a minority few in this country do realize that religions ought to be used to prosper the nation instead of political gains, there is not much things that the minority few could do, because the majority always bullied the minority, silenced them, and shove them into the dark corner, and never speak a word about it again.

Once again, dear readers, while the world is moving forward and embracing indiscrimination and peace, Malaysia will still be left behind with our orthodox and non-liberated thinking. While U.S would be ready for it’s first non-white skin President, ours would never be ready for a non-Malay Prime Minister, because we will never ditch the ‘supremacy factor’. The acts of certain people belied their faith, where in the eyes of God, everyone is equal. What differentiate them from one another is just the good deeds that they do in life.

While children of different skin colours and ethnicity in U.S could start dreaming of being a President when they grow up or start composing essays on their ambitions to be a president for their creative writing lessons, Malaysian children would be deprived of such dreams and such freedom to write, because just by doing so, certain people In Malaysian society would simply laugh at the children in question or condemn them for being silly or not being able to differentiate between fantasy and harsh reality. In worst case scenario, those children too would also be punish for treachery and be put under ISA for threatening the national security.

The picture above what Malaysia is not ready for: Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, head of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, left, talks with Mustafa Ceric, head of the Bosnia Islamic Community, during a a three-day Catholic-Muslim forum hosted by the Vatican this month. Oppression, choices, women, and clashes of the world

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql6XqIjehnk]

I was so engrossed in writing my novel last night that I did not realize that U-jean is online. My concentration on writing my novel was disrupted for a while by the message that she sent. She sent me the url for the video above, and suddenly I felt human again, as I’m given another thing to speak up for, which is, control, choices and women. While writing a novel these days seems like a task to me but writing non-fiction articles is not, I suddenly wonder if I finally lost my touch in writing novels and romantic fictions. Words flow easily when I write non-fiction things or things that’s regarding to what’s going on around me or around the world. I actually stopped writing my bloody NaNoWriMo novel for a while so that I’m able to write this one. I wonder what has become of me. Perhaps, age is catching up on me, and I am no longer oblivious to what’s going on around me.

To fully understand what I will be ranting about this time, you readers would have to watch the youtube video above.

As I mention repeatedly in my previous entries ever since I started this weblog, I am not a religious person, and very far from being religious. I feel that I have a lot more to learn about religions of the world, and I prefer to keep my mind open. I embrace the idea that all religion are good and beautiful in their own way. I try my best to do good deeds in my life not because I fear hellfire or retribution in my afterlife, but it’s because I’m raise to live my life with clear conscience and with moral values.

I have always believed that every religion is beautiful in it’s own way. Islam included. Islam itself means peace and according to history that has been dictate, Islam has liberate many men and saved so many women from being sold off as slaves. Not to mention stop baby girls from being buried alive as society back then see girls as a liability rather than assets. Islam has changed the life of many. The teaching itself is meant to bring peace to the world and change the people to be better human beings. Islam thought people about patience, tolerance and respect.

Yes, indeed, Islam is a beautiful religion. But in the quest for power, human beings make use of the religion to oppress one another, going against the real teaching of Islam where Muslims are supposed to love mankind, not violate the ones who do not share the same faith as them. Human use Islam to control the weaker ones. Women are usually victims in the quests for power and monopoly. Women are silenced by the voices who uses holy writings to force women to submit to their wimps. Women are denied their freedom to live like a human beings, instead, women are forced to live like men’s possession, regardless of their contributions and roles in the modern world.

Some humans who prayed five times a day was convinced that they are guaranteed eternal bliss in heaven during their afterlife. It is good to have something to believe in, such as afterlife, but what is not good about it that the fact that they feel secure and blessed by God makes them conceited, and instead of showing the beauty of Islam to people who do not share the same faith, they mock and insulted the ones who do not share the same faith with them.

Feeling so powerful that they are guaranteed a good afterlife by praying and following sunnah, they feel that they are superior, and so, they demand that the rest of the world follow their lead. They feel that is the right thing to do, and they are convinced that the Holy Quran requires them to spread the good faith through demanding people to follow their lead.

That is not right, isn’t it? The Prophet Muhammad himself spread Islam through gentle teaching. He showed to the world that Islam is beautiful because it’s not about forcing people, it’s not about gaining power, but it’s all about gentle persuasion, leading by good example, and protecting the weak. According to history, he never force people to be a Muslim, but showed them Islamic way of life until people fell in love with the religion itself because of the peaceful and protective characteristic.

And yet, why do we have people forcing others to believe in what they do not believe in a rather harsh way? It’s either you believe it, or we’ll condemn you, that’s what human these days do. Why can’t they follow the prophet’s footstep when they are spreading Islam?

Why do people around the world clashes with each other because of religion and what they believe in? Major wars are caused by religion…. The Crusaders versus the Jihads….no I’m wrong, religion do not clash with each other. No religion promotes war and disrespect towards one another, it’s human that uses religion’s name in vain to violate one another and in the process, destroy each other’s civilization and take away many innocent lives in the process.

The calls for peace are all but rudely ignored. Like what the lady said in the video, it’s about time the Muslim think about what they could contribute to the world, not demand the world follow their wimps or demand people to share same beliefs as them.

But to me, it’s not just the Muslim who should think of what they could contribute to the world to make the world a better place to live in, but everyone should think of what they could offer to the world and live in peace with one another instead of trampling the weaker ones or demand others believe in what they believed in.

Cleffairy: God create mankind to be at peace and harmony with each other and religion as a way of life. But why  human beings are constantly disrupting peace and uses religion’s name in vain?

Malaysia Greatest Magician

*pOOf* Who said Malaysia does not have any good magicians around? Malaysia is a country where everything is made possible, and in the field of magic and optical illusion, Malaysia has at least two best kept secret. One is a magician and he is a master of disappearance act while the other is a clown, a master of presenting bullshits on a silver platter to his audience no matter where he go. The clown would act like an ultimate retarded puppet to be dressed up and played by whoever could afford to pay him handsome reward. Below is the description of the two prolific magic and optical illusion entertainer:

Mr. Bola Bola– Mr. Bola Bola is actually a private investigator who one day woke up from the wrong side of his bed and decided to learn magic. But in the process of learning and mastering magic in a famous magic school, he made his evil teacher goes ballistic and very pissed off with his antics. Mr. Bola Bola, fearing that the teacher will cast awful spell and curse his family have no choice but to perform his ultimate disappearance act that will put David Copperfield to shame. He chanted some magic words, and *poof* …him, and his entire family disappeared from their motherland, Malaysia and appeared on other part of the earth in an instant. He is said to be living a bombastic life with his loved ones in the land of belly dancers where a renowned Indian Datuk resides. But of course, it’s only rumours that he is in the land of belly dancers. It is not possible for a great magician to show himself to the public when he does not wish it, right? Til this very day, no one really know his whereabouts. One would wonder if one day he will magic will wear off and finally return to his homeland. Even David Copperfield’s disappearance act does not last forever.

Sai Fool– A sad case of entertainer who should be conferred ‘Clown of the Year’ award. He has definitely performed the best joke any desperate gay clown could perform. He was smitten with his boss and tried to seduce him, but it was rumoured that his boss does not give a damn about him. Pissed off, he claimed that he is sodomized by his boss and he does not enjoy it, and cried rape to the world. Then, he goes great length to prove that his ass was brutalized countless times by swearing his ass off in a holy shrine. He was very famous back then with his absurd attempt to taint his boss good name and he became every single newspaper and electronic media headline. However, the clown too had learn some magic, which is the art of disappearance and optical illusion act. He too, like Mr. Bola Bola, goes *pOoF* one day and disappeared from the face of the earth. Sai Fool is a way better performer than Mr. Bola Bola though, as there is no news or rumours about him at all and he is nowhere to be seen. Everyone seems to forget about him and nobody knows his whereabouts at all!

Cleffairy: *pOoF* Does magic last forever? Even Cinderella’s magic wears off by 12 midnight.

Hollow Eve- Holloween Tales

October was not a productive month for me. There’s so many ups and downs with many problems on hand for me to handle, and shamefully, I have only produced 15 articles last month. Worst personal record ever. Today I’m going to blog about Holloween. I know it’s a day late, but then again, better late than never, right? I have a resolution this month, which is completing a novel with at least 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo, but that does not mean I will neglect my blog as I go crazy writing a novel. That would mean I will blog insanely too, and hopefully will put my October’s record to shame. Yes, people, I was not joking when I said last month that I would like to participate.

Anyway, enough of my rants, let’s get to Holloween tales.

Firstly, on how Holloween originates. This is my version though, as told by my kindergarten teacher when I was around 5 years old. I did not study in Malaysia, so I was fed with all sort of Holloween tales. But trick or treating has always left me sick to the stomach, as I had too much candies to eat. Frankly speaking, Holloween is not really my favourite holiday.

I did not pay much attention back then, but I think I recalled some of the facts right. Holloween is not just about the commercialized trick or treating that the modern people would have it, but it has long extensive history and legends. A Celtic history at that, no less.

Halloween is originally celebrated on October 31st, the last day of the Celtic calendar. It was originally a pagan holiday where the Irish celebrated to honor the dead souls that wander the street on that very day. Halloween was referred to as All Hallows Eve and dates back to over 2000 years ago. Halloween culture can be traced back to the Druids, a Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain and Northern Europe. Roots lay in the feast of Samhain, which was annually on October 31st to honor the dead souls that are believed to wander on the streets.

Samhain signifies end of summer or beginning of autumn, which is November. Samhain was a harvest festival with huge sacred bonfires, marking the end of the Celtic year and beginning of a new one. Many of the practices involved in this celebration were based on superstition.

The pagans believed that on this very day, which is the last day of summer and the beginning of autumn, is the very day that the evil soul goes around wandering aimlessly on the streets. The poor souls, when was alive, did many awful things that is beyond redemption, and they are nothing but poor evil who are out to after the innocent people who are still alive. And of course, these souls or ghosts are not always very friendly.

The people thought of a way to appease the dead, which is offering of treats of goods and gifts in the form of crops that they harvested, hoping that by doing so, their next harvest would be bountiful. This custom then evolve into what you see those kids doing today, which is ‘Trick or Treating’.

And then there’s a story that have Christianity element in it. As it’s commonly known, Holloween is also known as All Saints Day or All Hollow Eve. It’s the evening before All Saints Day. A day created by the Christians to converts the pagan to Christianity and is celebrated on November 1st. The Catholic honored saints on this designated day.

The story that contains the Christianity element in it is the story of Jack O Lantern. Despite of the famous lantern that’s carved out of pumpkin that sometimes gives the chill to people, the real Jack is not a pumpkin or a lantern. The Jack O’Lantern legend goes back hundreds of years in Irish History.

He is a dirty old man who was always drunk and have no conscience. As a Celtic tale would have it, the drunkard would play tricks on everyone that he comes across. His family, friends, and the Devil himself is not even spared from Jack’s trickery.

One day, the day that is supposed to be the day that Jack died, the Devil came to him to claim his life and brings him to hell, because people like Jack would never be accepted to heaven as some of the things he did in life, like tricking his poor old mother is beyond redemption.

However, taking Jack’s life is a gruesome task, as he kept playing tricks on the Devil and made the devil to promise him not to bring him to hell once he died. After a few years, Jack finally died. He went to the pearly gates of Heaven and was told by Saint Peter that he was had led a miserable and worthless life on earth and therefore, he is not worthy of heaven. And since he’s not allowed to step his foot in heaven, Jack then went down to Hell and spoke to the Devil himself.

The Devil was still seething with anger when he saw Jack, who was begging for a place to stay in hell, since he have no other place to go. Unexpectedly, the Devil kept his promise to Jack when he was still alive and refused to accept Jack in hell. Now, since Jack could not go to heaven and hell would not accept him, he is damned to spend his afterlife to wander in the darkness between heaven and hell forever.

Jack, who was scared asked the Devil how he could leave if there’s no lights to guide his way. The Devil took a slight pity in Jack, and tossed a tiny ember from hell to Jack to guide his way in his wanderings. Jack placed the ember in a hollowed out Turnip, one of his favorite foods which he always carried around with him whenever he could steal one. For that day onward, Jack’s soul roamed the earth without a resting place, lighting his way as he went with his “Jack O’Lantern”.

On all Hallow’s eve, the Irish would hollowed out Turnips, rutabagas, gourds, potatoes and sometimes beets. They placed a light in them to ward off evil spirits and keep Jack’s spirit away. These were the original Jack O’Lanterns.

Somewhere in the 1800’s a couple of Irish immigrants went to America and the Irish immigrants quickly discovered that pumpkins were bigger and easier to carve out. So they used pumpkins for Jack O’Lanterns. So, ladies and gentlemen, that is why people originally carved out pumpkins and made lantern out of it during the Holloween, which is to keep Jack guided in his wandering and away from their homes.

People these days only know that Holloween is for trick or treating and asking for candies from door to door by dressing up as dead souls or whatever character of their choice and party around on Hollow’s Eve. That’s pretty much commercialized.

The original Holloween is supposed to be rather uneventful, as people would prefer to stay indoors to avoid wandering souls, not wander around like lost souls themselves. To me, though the modern way of celebrating Holloween is quite fun, I feel that it’s actually pathetic if people do not actually know what actually they are celebrating or where and how a certain festival originates.

Cleffairy: Boo! Trick or treat, don’t eat too much candies and get sick, people.

Fuck off! Don’t tell us how to dress up or behave!

Define woman, straight woman. In Malaysia. Here goes. A woman, must have a vagina between her legs and have long hair, and on top of that must wear frilly skirts complete with headscarf and high heels with excessive makeup that will suspiciously make a female individual looks like a baboon’s ass or some ghostly opera singer. To be a woman in Malaysia and not be labeled as tomboy or lesbian, women must also be submissive to men’s wimp and acts all girlie. If a woman in Malaysia does not have the figure or the look of a typical woman or dress up nothing short like a Christmas tree, then she is by all mean, she is a homosexual, or in other words, she’s a LESBIAN.

Is there anything else I’m missing? Please feel free to add, dear readers, I am sure most of you know better than me on how our government and some NGO tells Malaysian women how to dress and how to behave in public in the name of religion. I can’t be bothered listing every damn thing they’re trying to tell us women because there are too damn much to list, and if I were to do so, I might as well write a bloody thick book and publish it.

Bloody hell! Does wearing jeans and t-shirt and having naturally flat chest and short hair makes one a lesser woman or even a lesbian? Must all woman in this bloody country dress up like some belly dancers or paint her face like some bloody bitchy doll from hell to be viewed as a woman in the eyes of public? Now they are telling our women on what to wear and how to behave, what’s next? How to have sex or which sexual position is acceptable in the eyes of the public? Women are not allowed to be on top of her man in bed? What a fucked up place we’re living in!

Having the perception that a woman or girl who dress up or look like a boy is definitely a lesbian does disgust me to no end. Why? From personal experience when I was growing up, I was a ‘tomboy’ too. I do not mix around well with girls my age. I despise wearing makeup (til tis very day), I don’t have big boobs like those porn star bitches does, and loves to mix around with boys and play football and basketball with them. I was a very active young lady when I was growing up, and I love doing what boys my age does, which is play hard, and gets myself into trouble more often than out of it.

But does all of this characteristic makes me a lesbian? Hell, no! I was not a lesbian, even though I have a very close girl friend whom stick together with me wherever we go. I may not look like a typical girl, wearing skirts and frills and favoured flowers, but I was girlish all the same deep inside. I had my fair share of crushes on cute boys. I swoon and goes goo goo ga ga each time I saw some handsome and single new male teachers in school, and hell yes, I love to gossip like most girls do. And God help me, I was addicted to Harlequin and Mills&Boon mushy romance novels and not even my controlling mother could pry those romance novels I secretly bought and stash under my bed with my allowance from my clutches.

Okay, fine, enough of my childhood times where I swoon over those hunks in school. As time goes by, I grew up. And I still do not dress up like a prim and proper lady who graduated from finishing school. I still prefer jeans and t-shirts over frilly dresses. I do not keep up with the latest fashion and I would definitely choose some cool gadget and thick books over those ‘Nippon paint makeups’. Sitting in front of the dressing table, painting my face with God knows what chemical concoction is never a routine. Evaluate my outward appearance, ladies and gentleman. Am I a lesbian?

Hell, no! I’m married to a man. A man, one that you could safely define, with a penis between his legs from the very day he was born. An original one, mind you not some bloody drag queen who had some transgender nip and tuck. So, with all my outward appearance and my dressing preference that is not very feminine in the eyes of public or ‘those people’, does this makes me a lesser woman? I think not, and most people around me does not think so too. So what gives the rights to ‘some people’ to label every single woman in this country who dressed up like a guy just because they feel comfortable with it a homosexual who will put on a strapon undies or armed with whatever kinkily designed dildo and have sex with her own kind at night?

Sorry to say this, assholes, but there are lesbians who look absolutely like a real woman where they are very ladylike and one could hardly guess that she is actually a lesbian, and sometimes, her partner even look like some woman who just came out from a runway catwalk. Gosh, don’t you guys even know that sometimes, to be a homosexual/lesbian, a woman does not have to purposely dress up or behave like a guy? Get out from your cave and smell the stinks of the world, assholes.

People should never judge a person on how others looks like. One may encounter a very beautiful lady who wears skirts, makeups and all, and she could very well be a lesbian and not even close to guessing her sexual preference. Why only label those who looks or dress up as guys as lesbian? What the hell is wrong with your screwed up brain?

If you want to do away with homosexuality, then by all means, tackle the root of the problem that brings up all of these nonsense, not just telling off every single ladies on the street who wears very casually like a man does not to dress up that way just because you think that it’s religiously not allowed to dress up like that. Go figure out why some women have tendency to be a lesbian.

Homosexual tendency is not written in someone’s D.N.A code. No department of science can prove that. It’s something developed during growing up years or somewhere in between teenage years and adulthood. A woman dressing up very casually like a man probably do so because she feels at ease and comfortable with her dressing code. It does not always necessarily mean that she is a lesbian.

Environment matters. Something must have screwed up somewhere to trigger homosexuality in an individual. Hell, I know I’ll turn into a lesbian if the man in my life mistreat me and absolutely have no respect towards me. I am not ashame to admit that. That’s probably the truth, anyway. After all, if most male figure in my life treats women like dirt, why would I not favour women in comparison to men? Women are more understanding towards other women’s sensitivity and needs. After all, men can be such bastards and clueless at times.

Sometimes, childhood environment affect someone’s sexual preference too. Do away with school that’s gender based. School are not supposed to be serving as a convent or a monastery anymore. Keeping children of different genders apart from each other during their childhood and learning years does not only confuse them of their counterpart and in some ways, but definitely encourage them ‘to get to know’ their opposite sex in a rather dangerous way.

Curiosity will lead two individual from different genders who had been kept apart for so long from each other to get close and try to understand each other in a rather sexual way. Opposite usually attract, like moth to the flame. Wouldn’t it be better if children are forewarned and have better understanding of their opposite sex rather than keeping them in the dark and find out about sex in an unhealthy way? Why not keep them informed and educated instead of hiding them away from each other during their growing up years?

Unfortunately, not all kids who were educated in a school that was not co-ed goes all curious and turn out as straight individual. Some grew up either to view at their opposite sex with contempt and prejudice or refused to look at their counterpart at all. They grew to have admiration towards the same sex and slowly, admiration turned into infatuation and beyond.

So, conniving assholes, instead of labeling or telling women not to dress up like men, why not ‘troubleshoot’ the root of all this nonsense first if you think that homosexuality is something that should be condemn? Why only choose to preach all day long in a rather shallow way of thinking instead of doing something that actually might work effectively?

Deepavali- Triumph of good over evil

Here’s wishing all Hindu readers of Over A Cuppa Tea a very happy and blessed Deepavali. I haven’t been writing for the past few days. While some of you would believe that I’m down with diarrhea again for over eating, unfortunately, I’m not. I was down with high fever instead, so all moods for writing flew out of the window and the mood for sleeping overcomes the will to write.

I’m sure a lot of you know that Deepavali, or Indian New Year is associated with lights, or celebration of lights where people lights up lamps to celebrate the triumph of good over evil. But not many of you know the myth/story behind the festival itself. So, please permit me to retell the story that gives people a reason to celebrate Deepavali. The story of Rama and Sita, or commonly known as Ramayana( The Story of Rama).

Once upon a time, there live a prince, known as Rama and his wife. The couple were banished from their own kingdom by Rama’s evil stepmother. She was scared that her own son would not succeed the throne, so she sent the bright and wise Rama and his wife, Sita to live in exile. Rama’s brother, Lakshmana was very devoted to his brother, so he decided to leave his young wife at the palace and accompany the couple to live in exile to ensure their safety.

Sita, Rama’s wife is said to be a very beautiful woman, and could charm any man she want with her grace and good looks. Despite of her gifts of good looks, she stays devoted to her husband, even though they’re living in exile, and this irks King Rawana of Ceylon, who have been lusting after the beautiful Sita.

So one day, when Rama and Lakshmana went out hunting and left Sita alone. When Sita is alone, Rawana appears before her as an ailing old man, who begs Sita for help. Sita took pity on the sickly old man, and when she is aiding the old man, the old man changes into Rawana and abducts Sita, telling her that Rama is dead. He rises in the air with her and flies her to his Kingdom.

Jatayu, King of the Birds, also commonly known as Garuda (Phoenix), witnessed Rawana carrying off Sita and they battle in the air. Rawana delivers a fatal wound to Jatayu’s wings who fell to the ground, where he is later discovered by Rama and Laksmana. Jatayu was near death and managed to tell Rama that Sita was abducted by the evil king.

Rama and Laksmana travelled far and wide and enlist the aid of the army of Wanaras, a race of giant monkeys. Sugriwa, King of the Wanaras, agrees to help Rama rescue Sita in return for Rama’s support of Sugriwa’s attempt to regain his rightful throne in the land of Guakiskenda.

When Sugriwa meets his arch-nemesis, Subali, Rama saves Sugriwa’s life with a magic arrow which kills Subali. After Sugriwa is crowned King of Guakiskenda, the white monkey general, Hanuman, is sent to Alengka (Ceylon) to scout the defenses and to deliver Rama’s ring to Sita, so that she would know that Rama was alive and soon will rescue her.

After a narrow escape from the stomach of Wikateksi, the enormous sea monster which guarded the approaches to Alengka, Hanuman kills Wikateksi and flies to the capital of Alengka, the kingdom of the giants. Fortunately, there are many monkeys living among the giants, which provide cover for Hanuman, who reduces his size. He looks everywhere in the city for the abducted Sita. Eventually Hanuman finds Rawana’s palace and the women’s quarters. Hanuman meets Sita in the garden and gives her Rama’s ring, which she recognizes at once, and tells her that Rama is on his way to rescue her.

Hanuman, in order to test the strength of the city, resumes his normal size, climbs to the top of a tall building and hurls a challenge to the awestruck crowd below. He begins to destroy the buildings around him by using an uprooted palm tree as a club. He is felled by an arrow shot by the crown prince of Alengka, Hindrajit. Hanuman is shackled in chains and sentenced to die by slow fire.

Hanuman appeals to Agni, the god of fire, to save him. A wall of flame springs up between Hanuman and the watching crowd. With a burst of strength, Hanuman breaks his bonds, and swinging a glowing torch picked up from the fire, goes on a rampage which ends in the burning of a large part of the city. Assuring himself that Sita’s pavilion is safe, Hanuman leaps into the air and flies back to Guakiskenda.

After hearing of Hanuman’s exploits, Rama adopts him as his own son. The army then heads for Alengka, which they find surrounded by a boiling sea. By hurling huge boulders into the sea, the monkey soldiers build a causeway to the island. Rawana learns of the invasion and assembles his generals. Some of the generals resent Rawana’s evil rule, but heretofore have lacked the courage to oppose him. Wibisana, Rawana’s brother, as spokesman, points out that it was because Rawana abducted Sita that Alengka is now in danger.

He suggests that Rawana release Sita and avoid bloodshed and loss of life and property. Angered, Rawana strikes Wibisana, who then deserts to Rama’s army. Rawana is tempted to murder Sita, but is thwarted by Trijata, Wibisana’s beautiful daughter, who has grown to love Sita as a sister. Rawana turns to another brother, the giant Kumbakarna, who although disapproving of Rawana’s crimes and baseness, decides to help because they are of the same blood.

After many guerilla attacks by the monkey soldiers, the two armies finally face each other. Two opposing generals, Kumbakarna and Laksmana challenge each other. Kumbakarna is killed by Laksmana’s magic arrow. Other duels take place on the battlefield. Rama spots Rawana and pursues him, shooting showers of arrows, which seem to have no effect on Rawana other than to make him back off. Rawana backs in between two unusually formed rocks which snap together and hold him in an inescapable grip. These rocks are inhabited by the souls of two of his daughters, who Rawana had murdered, and who are at last able to avenge themselves on their father.

Rawana’s army surrenders and Rama gives the throne of Alengka to Wibisana. Rama and Sita are joyfully united. The fourteen years of exile being over, Rama, Sita and Laksmana return to Kosala, where they are welcomed by all. However, rumors circulate about Sita’s virtue. She offers to test her virtue by fire. She enters the ring of fire and emerges unharmed, her faithfulness was confirmed. When the rumors persist, she leaves the palace for the spiritual life.

The Ramayana story is especially important to Hindus because it is possible for ordinary people to identify with the characters and situations. The heroes and heroines are emulated for their positive qualities of honesty, devotion, perseverance, fidelity, and bravery. Strongly evident in this story is the portrayal of pure evil and those who have the courage to resist and overcome that evil.

And so, that is why people started to celebrate Deepavali. The Hindus lights up oil lamp to celebrate and commemorate the triumph of good over evil.

Cleffairy: A special thanks to a good friend of mine who shared Rama’s story with me and assist me in the whole process of the retelling of Rama’s story. I couldn’t have done it without her. Happy Deepavali and happy holiday, everyone. I enjoyed the story very much, but I have to say, Sita does reminds me of Helen of Troy. I guess, in any culture, there will always be a story that resembles Helen of Troy. Sometimes, beauty has always been the reason of war between countries and men. Are women evil beings that provokes war and fightings? Or women are just mere excuse for men to show their aggressive nature? A penny for your thoughts.
