So spank me!

Another tag, from Claire. Yadda, yadda… without further ado here’s some random facts about Cleffairy, according to many high and oh so mighty people; friends, foes, families and neighbours alike who dwells in her life. They may not have the guts to say the stuff below to my face, but I know what they’re saying. Duh! What do you take me for?

1. I’m a bad mum.

2. I’m a horrible wife and is never good enough.

3. I make a nasty friend.

4. Apparently, I’m not a filial daughter because I don’t see my parents often.

5. I’m definitely a rotten, pain in the ass sister.

6. I am rather brainless and a bit of a slut cuz I make many wrong turns in life.

7. I’m pure. Pure evil, that is.

But thank heaven God is kind to me. Despite of all of my faults, He saw it fit to bestow me a talent for fiction, and therefore, I avenge myself by killing and torturing those who badmouth me in my novels. So… hell yea… try not to make me pissed, okay? You’ll never know when I’ll be like J.K Rowling or something and I get to tell the shits to the world about you.

Cleffairy: I am bad to the bone, yes but I’ll never mislead anyone with the illusion that I’m somewhat a Saint.

My annual bragging rights…

I’m back, I guess, from a not so long MIA, and you read it right. I’ve earned my annual bragging rights. Manglish posted up his bragging the other day, and now it is my turn, since I’m kinda back from my MIA. Hahahahaha… what? You can’t seriously thought I’ll opt out of my little fun, do you? LOL… here goes…

EXT. SCRIPT FRENZY STADIUM – 30 DAYS LATER

THE YOUNG WRITER thunders toward the finish line, manuscript under arm.

The writer sneaks an over-the-shoulder glance and sees DOUBT, FRUSTRATION, and FATIGUE fade into the distance.

They turn back toward the finish line too late to avoid a BLOCK laying in the way.

The writer leaps over the block, but TRIPS.

MANUSCRIPT PAGES flutter in the air as the writer CRASHES to the ground.

Doubt, frustration, and fatigue nearly close the gap.

But the writer CRAWLS toward the FINISH LINE, and with a final push, LOBS one RAZOR-SHARP PAGE through the FINISH-LINE TAPE:

FADE TO BLACK

LOL… hey… I don’t brag or show off often. I don’t even plaster my ugly face on the net for people to see. So I guess, this is the closest I can get to showing off. It’s only once… or twice a year. LOL…In case you people have no idea what in the world I’m talking about.. kindly bear with me while I boast some more.

Before one of you tells me off and ask me to admit myself to an asylum, this entry is about winning/completing Scriptfrenzy. 😀 I did it, I did it! Yes, yes, yes! I did it. I wrote not only one script, but two completed scripts in 30 days!

It’s amazing that I was disciplined enough to do it. 😀 I guess my teachers back in school was right about me. I can achieve anything I want as long as I put my head and my heart into it. It is just too bad that I wasn’t motivated enough when I was a student, though, or I would have ended up being a highly respected scholar today. 😀

I didn’t win any money for winning Scriptfrenzy, but I’m definitely satisfied with the outcome cuz it boosts up my confidence and motivates me tremendously. I also made many friends of all age along the way while working my butt on two of my scripts. 😀 It doesn’t hurt at all too that I earned 2 more cert to mark my achievements as well.

One cert for the  adult Scriptfrenzy Program. This one is for the script with the working title ‘A Jar of Love’.

And another cert was conferred for the script that I wrote for the Script Frenzy Young Writer Program, ‘A Thousand Paper Stars’ as an educator.

I’ve hosted a couple of online as well as offline write ins, and as Malaysia region Municipal Liaison, I’d like to thank you for coming and participating in those write ins. You guys really rocks. And I’d like to thank parents who allowed their kids to participate as well. Without your moral support, none of us would pull it through. Thank you very much everyone, for making the crazy literary event a huge success. I’ll see you guys next year, all right? 😀

Cleffairy: Nothing is impossible. Even in the word impossible, there’s IM POSSIBLE in it. 😀 Anyway, did you know that being a writer is like being in charge of your very own personal asylum? LOL… it’s just bizarre, in a good way. 😀

Kreativ Award: I’m breaking da rules!

Over A Cuppa Tea was awarded Kretiv Award by Shakira

There’s a couple of rules that I must follow if I want to accept this award, among them are:

1. Thank the person giving you this award.

2. Copy the award to your blog

3. Place a link to their blog

4. Name at least 7 things people don’t know about you.

5. Nominate 7-10 Blogger.

6. Place a link to those Blogger.

7. Leave a comment letting those Bloggers know about the award.

You see, I’ve always been a rebellious person, and since this award is known as ‘Kreativ’, I’m going to use my creativity to break the rules. LOL… so instead of doing every single they ask me to do as written above, I’m just going to do just 1, 2 and 4. Ahahaha…. I’ve done no. 1 and 2, so here’s the no. 4.

10 things people don’t know about me

1. I am Superman’s daughter, I got super powers! I can char anything inside my oven. Now, isn’t that a very cool power to have?

2. I like horseback riding and archery. My first time on a horse was when I was five years old, on Blackburn Beach. And my first time with the bows and arrows was when I was 9 years old. So don’t mess with me, I can shoot arrows like nobody’s business. I wish it was the gun, though… it would have been faster, better, and more damaging!

3. I can’t take coffee…I get palpitations if I drink coffee… So that blackie black thingie is a no no for me! I am a pure tea drinker, however. I can take a maximum of 7 cups of tea per day.

4. I went para-sailing when I was eight, and nearly gave my late grandmum a heart attack. She was so scared that I would fall off from the sky and die!

5. I can rollerblade and ice skate. However, I still fail to do the triple loop. Obviously, God does not see why the hell I need balance for.

6. I write novels for fun. So far I’ve written 34 completed novels since 2000. I wrote more back then, but I lost count and I lost some of my works to my mummy’s evil hands. The 34 novels are the ones that I still have with me.

7. I still read Doraemon, Sailormoon and Dragonball. Now, how cool is that.

8. I like history and literature, and I’d choose to watch documentary over dramas any day.

9. I love chocolates and ice creams and junk foods. And unlike others, I can indulge in those sweet stuff and craps without gaining weight. *grinz* Oh, hallelujah, God is great!

10. Clark Kent is the hero of my dreams. And believe it or not, I was inspired to pursue journalism line because I wanted to be like Clark Kent- Superman. You know… work in the Daily Planet and moonlight around in tights as a Superhero? You get the picture.

And as for no. 5… I’m gonna just award the first 10 person who commented for this entry-minus the rules. Take the award, and do as you like. Creativity rules! Ahahahahaha! Enjoy, peeps!

. Thank the person giving you this award.

2. Copy the award to your blog

I Wrote Dangerously

For those who have been frequenting my blog would probably know what I do for fun. Which is write. Write nonsense, write out my fantasies, write out those romance that’s supposed to happen to me but did not. I write for a living. And I write for fun.

It didn’t sound fun at all, did it? But then again, I’m not a wizard or a magician. I have no talents of making a rabbit appearing from the folds of a hat and I also can’t work with potion or conjure spells and put  nasty curses on people. I hate my lack of ability to do things efficiently, so that’s probably why I write a lot. It’s wishful writing, I suppose.

Writing has been a part of my life, and always will be, though I am not always productive all the time. November is always productive for me though my pitiful blog is sorely neglected, cuz there’s NaNoWriMo, where people all around the world goes on a crazy attempt to write a novel of at least 50,000 words in just 30 days. Crazy people who loves to write like me motivates each other and goes on word sprints or write ins to get our fingers dancing on the keyboard to churn out words from our brains.

That’s why I love November so much. Cuz I get a boost from all over the world, telling me that I am not silly or even wasting my time putting the ridiculous things from my head on the white sheets. November taught me to let go and just enjoy being just me.

Anyway, I’ve won the challenge and earned my yearly rights to boast. Hey, hey, bear with me, I said. LOL… I don’t camwhore, cuz people will probably puke after seeing my pic, so this will have to do! LOL… so bear with me for a while, okay? Let me hear the okay and drum rolls, please…

I broke my personal records this year…feel free to use the numbers to buy 4D or even toto. Just remember to give me a treat if you hit the jackpot, tho.

I wrote: 15,2340 words (that’s 300++ pages, 12pt in Times New Roman)

I drank: 56 cups of Lipton tea, 15 glasses of iced Milo in the middle of the night throughout Novermber 2009.

I ate: Tons of fattening, instant stuff that my late grandmother won’t even recognize as food.

I indulged in: 3  packs of dynamite choco-mint candies, a dozen of Chupa Chups orange and strawberry flavoured lollipops, 1 pack of monsters candy and half tub of chocolate ice cream.

I missed: A lot of soap operas shown on the telly.

I slept: 4-5 hours a day and dream about my devilishly handsome hero and nightmares about lusty sorceress who lusts after my hero.

Anyway, I get these as a recognition of my insane effort:

And because I am also part of the NaNoWriMo YWP, I also get extra badge to tell the world on how looney I can get…

Oh yeah, I get this too…

Yikes! A cert to confirm my lunacy!

And here, I’d like to thank everyone who had been supportive and be there for me throughout November, especially my kitty, Meow Meow for accompanying me throughout November as I embark on my dangerous writing adventure while the rest of my world snores away.

I would drop into a court curtsy if I could in honour of this historic entry, but I think I shall end this entry with a little quote from my novel in progress:

Within the dark shadows of my heart, the torch’s glow reveals your face. Within the dungeons of my soul, the corridors echoed with your laughter. Within the castle’s wall of my resolves, your tender caress sets them ablaze. Within the misty forest of my memories, your soft kisses summons my name. Within my daydreams of tomorrow, we sleep in each other’s arms. And within my wildest wishes, you claim me to be yours.

Cleffairy: My head is full of mush! I have no idea why you people think I’m a fierce and cranky person. LMAO!

P.S: One would have noticed that I am not using Windows Operating System if one see closely on the NaNoWriMo cert screenshot. Nope, you did not see wrongly. You’re right. I am not using Windows. I am using Ubuntu, Linux based operating system. It’s an open source operating system, which means, you don’t have to pay for the license to use it. I might write about Ubuntu when I feel like it one day.

30 days and nights of literary abandon

It’s Monday, 12th October 2009 when I wrote this entry and I’m freaking out.

It’s coming, oh my God, it’s coming, and I am far from ready for it. 30 days and 30 nights of literary abandon. 1 novel, at least 50,000 words have to be written by the end of November.

Oh, damn it, it’s coming, November is coming again and I can’t believe that time really does fly though I feel as if it’s just yesterday that I sat in front of my laptop, churning out words and trying to gallantly write a novel in just 30 days while the evils in my real life tries to eat me up and tear me to pieces mercilessly.

Some of you out there may be clueless on what I’m talking aboutt. Come closer…let me tell you what I’m talking about. I’m talking about NaNoWriMo 2009.

For those who have been following my blog since last year, and for those who is a true writing nut like me (not just blogging, but have passion in writing) probably know what is NaNoWriMo. I have been participating in this crazy once a year literary event since 2004, and I don’t doubt that some of you did the crazy deed just like me just for the heck of it, but for those who do not know what is NaNoWriMo, allow me to explain what is NaNoWriMo for your benefit.

NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month.

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It’s all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that’s a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.

As you spend November writing, you can draw comfort from the fact that, all around the world, other National Novel Writing Month participants are going through the same joys and sorrows of producing the Great Frantic Novel. Wrimos meet throughout the month to offer encouragement, commiseration, and—when the thing is done—the kind of raucous celebrations that tend to frighten animals and small children.

So, basically:

What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month’s time.

Who: You! We can’t do this unless we have some other people trying it as well. Let’s write laughably awful yet lengthy prose together.

Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era’s most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

When: You can sign up anytime to add your name to the roster and browse the forums. Writing begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.

Anyway, unlike last year, I have not much confidence in myself on whether I can accomplish what I’ve achieved last year, which is to write a novel with at least 50,000 words in just 30 days.

This year is full of bullshit and simply would not give me a break. I get tired easily lately, and though my heart is willing and my mind is completely inspired, my body simply rebels and demands for a rest. And I am not sure if I can discipline myself to write at least 1666 words per day the way I managed last year. I have no such confidence for this time consuming commitment this year, but I’ve pledged to spend my November to write a novel.Again. I must be a masochist. That must be it. Only that could explain my insanity on taking up the challenge again.

But then again, i don’t want to be alone. So, my precious readers…who is with me on this? Who is up to the challenge? Join me in this literary insanity. get your kids, your colleague to join you. Make it a spend-time together event for you and your family.

See…below is my participant badge for this year.

nano_09_blk_participant_120x240.png participant_120x240_2

Come on, readers, be brave. Get one too. Join me in this crazy adventure. Kill a dragon or two… or better still, some bitches and bastards or evil bosses who simply refused to give you a raise in your novel. You won’t believe how much fun it can be!

Cleffairy: Still confused? Just visit the NaNoWriMo webbie for more infos on 30 days and 30 nights of crazy literary adventure that you might be interested to embark on. There’s infos and tips on hows and whats. Sign up, and join me.

Out of frenzy!

I participated in a scriptwriting event last month known as Script Frenzy where the participants are required to write a script of 100 pages in one month time. I’ve been meaning to… err… boast about my achievement, cuz participating in Script Frenzy is not the same like NaNoWriMo for me. Script writing is not really my strong point. It’s simply a pain in the butt, literally.

I spent more time moping in front of the PC thinking on how I should write or if a certain slugline is proper than writing the script itself. But by the end of the month, I managed to come out with a script set with 500 pages in it. Now that’s a huge personal record for me, though the script was actually an adaptation from my ongoing novel with the working title Masquerade.

It is hard to explain to those who did not participate in the event of the satisfaction gained after completing the challenge. But I have to express to all of you who stumbled upon this article that healthy amount of stress could motivate you to achieve many things, and could be greatly missed after it’s over.

This post is just to reward myself and remind myself to remain dedicated and discipline all the time, and not just during NaNoWriMo or Script Frenzy event. This is what I get for completing the challenge.

A congratulatory message from the organizer

I’m going frenzy! Script Frenzy!

Cleff is going nuts again. This time she’s going into a crazy frenzy! Script Frenzy, that is! You guys must be wondering what in the name of hell I’m talking about. Well…for those who have known me for quite some time would probably know that I’m a woman of passion. There’s fiery fire in my vein and I constantly thirst for adventure and challenges. I also probably have mush for brain and a hopeless romantic at heart despite of my awkward and unladylike writings.

I’m also woman with passion for writing, and I would never say no to a challenge related to writing. And so, it would only be appropriate if I take on the Script Frenzy Challenge 2009.

Some of you here might not be familiar with Script Frenzy. Well, allow me to introduce it to you, ladies and gentlemen.

sf_08_email_header_logo1

Script Frenzy is an international writing event in which participants take on the challenge of writing 100 pages of scripted material in the month of April. As part of a donation-funded nonprofit, Script Frenzy charges no fee to participate; there are also no valuable prizes awarded or “best” scripts singled out. Every writer who completes the goal of 100 pages is victorious and awe-inspiring and will receive a handsome Script Frenzy Winner’s Certificate and web icon proclaiming this fact.

Even those who fall short of the word goal will be applauded for making a heroic attempt. Really, you have nothing to lose—except that nagging feeling that there’s a script inside you that may never get out. So…guys, who are going frenzy with me this year? Aww, come on, join me!

Here’s the infos:

Who: You and everyone you know. No experience required.

What: 100 pages of original scripted material in 30 days. (Screenplays, stage plays, TV shows, short films, and graphic novels are all welcome.)

When: April 1 – 30. Every year. Mark your calendars.

Where: Online and in person (if you want!). Hang out in the forums, join your fellow participants at write-ins, and make friends by adding writing buddies online.

Why: Because you have a story to tell. Because you want a creative challenge. Because you’ll be disappointed if you missed out on the adventure. Because you need to make time for you.

How: Sign up. Tell everyone that you are in the Frenzy. Clear your calendar. Start some wrist exercises. Have fun!

The rules mumbo jumbo:

    1) To be crowned an official Script Frenzy winner, you must write a script (or multiple scripts) of at least 100 total pages and verify this tally on ScriptFrenzy.org.
    2) You may write individually or with a partner. Writing teams will have a 100-page total goal for their co-written script or scripts.
    3) Script writing may begin no earlier than 12:00:01 AM on April 1 and must cease no later than 11:59:59 PM on April 30, local time.
    4) You may write screenplays, stage plays, TV shows, short films, comic book and graphic novel scripts, adaptations of novels, or any other type of script your heart desires.
    5) You must, at some point, have ridiculous amounts of fun.

Still unclear? Check their our Frequently Asked Questions. No idea on how to write a script? There’s full guideline on how to write a script on https://www.scriptfrenzy.org.

For those who are in need of writing software formatter for scipt or screenplays, I personally would recommend Final Draft. It’s easy to use, just like other word processors like Open Office as well as MsWords. I bought Final Draft a couple of years ago, and I find it very convenient where script formatting is concern. However, Final Draft is not a free open source software. If you’re looking for something free and easy to use, you can try Cinergy. It’s great for beginner, and it’s completely free. Cinergy was my very first script writing software. I used it when i first started script writing back in 2006, and I’d say, it’s as up to par as Final Draft. You guys can give it a shot if you want.

I have no idea how I can accomplish writing a 100 pages script by the end of April this year as I’m all caked with my work bullshit. But then again, I’ve accomplished the impossible last November by singlehandedly writing a novel with at least 50,000 words in a month for the NaNoWriMo challenge. *grinz* Wish me luck in the frenzy, guys. Feel feel to go frenzy too.

I'm going frenzy!
