Anwar’s ass vs Saiful’s ass

Malaysian political dramas is effecting me greatly. And to say that is an understatement. Instead of having nice and good dreams about dancing teddies or spending romantic time with my sweetheart, or a fairy tale ending of an ongoing soap dramas, I dream about Anwar and Saiful doing a butt off! Literally butt off! Butt facing butt, and the butts are debating with each other! Argh! Long gone are the sweetness of my dream life! No more romantic dreams of marrying a prince or sexy and exotic dreams. Ah, yes, old assholes, young assholes, C4ing creeps as well as bubbly mouth strawberries are invading my dreams indefinitely.

My god, that was a nightmare. Why the hell Malaysian politics affect me so? I’m not their aqquintance and I do not know them personally. But what’s going on in Malaysian media agenda setting these days, affects our daily life greatly nevertheless. What they do or what they say is effecting our media, as well as the ambience of our countries.Previous night’s dream really got me thinking. They’ve been demanding Anwar to give his D.N.A samples. Here’s my questions: Why do they need new samples? And how do they plan to use it against Anwar to their own benefit?

As far as I’m concern, they already have Anwar’s D.N.A sample in store, and store it correctly, the D.N.A specimen could be preserve/conserve for a lot of years. Unless the D.N.A was deemed of no importance, they will not preserve it, they will go ahead and destroy it after using it as evidence in court in order to avoid genetic manipulation. But I believe that is not the case.

My biochemistry may not be at a PhD level, but that is a basic knowledge. Why the hell is Pak Lah claiming that the samples in store is ‘too old’? Was he sleeping through his classes and got the facts wrong again? Or the lab is inefficient that they screw up while storing the D.N.A for preservation? Or…the D.N.A that they had in in store is not Anwar’s D.N.A? *gasps*

Nevermind those! I’m just wondering how the hell they’re planning to use the D.N.A if they were to obtain it from Anwar. Are they going to check Anwar’s matress again? Or this time they’re going to be more vicious and porno-ish where Anwar and Saiful are stripped naked and they’ll poke around in both of their butt in order to obtain ‘necessary’ evidence to use it against Anwar?

If the plan to do it that way, I only have one question left. How the hell they’re going to find evidence in someone’s asshole when asshole is usually used for pooping? They do need to wash their ass or use toilet rolls to clean the poop away, don’t they? Won’t the evidence then will be long gone flushed down they toilet bowl by the time they decided to torch both of the men’s butt and poke around with a cotton bud for evidence?

I believe that using D.N.A in this sort of case is dangerous. And, the samples can easily be manipulated. And if it’s true that Anwar’s banana had visited Saiful’s asshole in a certain venue, shouldn’t they be looking for Anwar’s D.N.A, eg, pubic hair, semen, etc over there and compare it with what they have in store? One thing about D.N.A is, they don’t fade easily unless it’s tampered with chemicals or overshadowed by another D.N.A. Why can’t they just make an effort to look for it in the place of ‘crime’? Or is it there’s no crime to begin with and D.N.A. is necessary to build a case against Anwar?

Cleffairy: Genetic maipulation is a dangerous thing.

Cyber Cafe Dillemma

I’ve been skimming through the old newspaper at home for some clipping ( LOL… nothing serious, I usually clip out comics that I like.) and apparently I have missed an issue that I feel quite strongly about. CYBER CAFE. And since the news is not yet rotten,  I might as well give my two pence on it. The article below was taken from The Star Malaysia, 8th July 2008. And PLEASE NOTE that this particular matter was brought up a day after Pak Lah condemn bloggers for ’slandering’ and ‘defaming’ around in their blogs.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

TIGHTER RULES FOR CYBER CAFES- New guidelines to be enforced soon.

KUALA LUMPUR: All cyber cafes will have to cllose by midnight daily and operate only from the ground floor of buildings once the guidelines to control them are enforced.

Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin said that under the new guidelines, cyber cafe operators were also banned from using tainted glass.

“Operators must ensure their shops can be seen from the outside,” he said.

The new rule also require those below 12 years old to be accompanied by their parents or guardians to cyber cafes and they are only allowed to stay until 10pm,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday.

The guidelines have been drawn up and ready to be enforced at anytime.

However Hamzah did not say when the ministry was going to start enforcing them except to say it would be “as soon as possible”.

Hamzah said cyber cafes were also banned from other co-business activities, including having games, gambling, pornography, music and publications with negative elements.

“Cigarettes and alcohol cannot be sold or consumed at these premises,” he said.

Hamzah said operators were required to keep a register to record the entry and departure time of their patrons.

“This is to ensure that all patrons are checked by operators at all times. The owners of all business must also send names of students who come to their premises to their schools,”

Hamzah said some students had been found to play truant by changing their uniforms and visiting cyber cafes during school hours.

“We will also issue warning to operators who allow students into their centres as this( truancy) has been getting out of hand,” he said.

Cyber cafes which do not comply with the guidelines would be blacklisted.

“The names of offenders will be sent to all local authorities and they will not be allowed to open such business again in any part of the country,” he said.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

While I applaud the authorities effort to make cyber cafes less accesible for minors and requires them to be accompanied by parents or guardian, I seriously doubt how many parents or guardian are willing to take their child to a cyber cafe and sit there with them, especially when the image of cyber cafe in Malaysia is as smelly as a skunk’s fart. By asking parents or guardians, who are probably too busy to accompany their children to a cyber cafe is probably asking for the sun, the stars or the moon.

I haven’t seen any parent who are willing enough to send their kids to cyber cafe, what more sit for a few hours with them in the cyber cafe, waiting for their kids to do their things. Ask them to send their kids to tuition or music class, yes, that they will do, but not cyber cafes. The authorities might as well ban cyber cafes from allowing kids below 12 from entering their premises if parental guide is made compulsory. Heck, not all parents are so free as to sit with their kids in a cyber cafe.

Parents are usually adults, and most are working too. How the hell are they supposed to accompany their kids to a cyber cafe? And what kind of ‘guardian’ that they are referring to? If the mummy and daddy are working, are they supposed to hire a maid or something to accompany their child to a cyber cafe if their child wanted to go to a cyber cafe? Abit ridiculous and non-practical, don’t you think? Some of these kids goes to cyber cafe to do their Computer Class homework, not for the sole purpose of fun. Some come from a family that could not afford a desktop, and cyber cafe would have to make do. Wouldn’t it be more practical if they make the schools’ computer labs more accessible for children to use if they do not wish to encourage underage children to frequent cyber cafes? What good is a computer lab if they are only open to the kids to use during a pathetic 1 hour class? 1 hour is not even enough to do their IT class assignments. Most of the school computer labs are left unoccupied after school hours. Why not make it accessible for students to use? That would somewhat lessen some of the kids’ the frequency to cyber cafes.

I strongly do not agree that a cyber cafe should be closed by midnight. Why you ask me? This is why: At night of after midnight to 3-4am in the morning is usually a cyber cafe’s peak business hours, where there are a lot of college students or teenagers frequent the premises to do their stuff. Usually they are there for games, like WoW, Counter Strike and many more while a minority of them are poor souls who are there to do their university or college assignments as they can’t afford a PC or a Laptop with an Internet line for research . By asking them to close by midnight, that would mean taking away most of their clients as well as their profit away from them. ALOT of profit. If these cyber cafes businesses can’t generate more revenues, won’t that mean there will be less income tax can be collected from them? We’re not talking about one or two cyber cafes, we’re talking about the whole Malaysia’s cyber cafes businesses. Imagine how much will be gone once the guideline is implemented. Not only the businesses will loose money, but the government too, will loose some in the form of tax.

Not only that, PC servicing/networking will loose business too if this new guideline is to be implemented. Who would want to open a cyber cafe that cannot be open during peak hours? This will indirectly affect PC servicing/networking business as there will no longer be loads of cyber cafes bosses who requires their service. What’s left, is just office and home business, and it can’t be said that servicing home and office PCs is a huge goldmine. Cyber cafes are usually goldmine for PC servicing centres. Again, there will be loss of revenue.

Don’t give me the crap about truancy. Even if you don’t allow school kids to go in cyber cafes and they wanted to skip school, they will do it anyway. They might not be able to go to cyber cafes, but there are lot more places they can go, such as shopping mall, cinemas, and god knows where else they can go in this forsaken world. I was a kaki ponteng when I was in form 5, and I am not ashame to admit it, as the school sucks and the classes bores me to death. I skipped school, but I did not go to cyber cafes. I slept in at home and watch tv instead, and no one can stopped me either, back then. If the government wants to stop students from playing truant, kindly make the education more interesting and addictive, not just requiring students to sit down rooted on the chair, shut up and agree on whatever the teachers teach.

If a cyber cafes are to banned from other co-business activities, including having games, gambling, pornography, music and publications with negative elements, what good is a cyber cafe then? Almost all cyber cafes thrive on co-businesses, especially games and music. Most cyber cafes do not allow gambling, and there’s a difference between a jackpot centre and a cyber cafe. One should not be confused that all cyber cafes are gambling centres. Those PC centres that allows gambling is not cyber cafes. they are jackpot centres.  Jackpot centres usually is set up in a rather secluded areas, unlike cyber cafes that usually targeted youth as their patrons, are set up in a very strategic and easily accessible areas. Do note that most cyber cafes DO NOT allow pornography either.

And what does ‘publication with negative elements’ supposed to mean? I take it as ‘blogging’ is a negative publication element since our dear PM mentioned that ‘bloggers are responsible’ for slander and stuff and is corrupting the mind of the people. Well, it seems the authorities goes to great length to stop minds from reaching out in this technological era. They go as far as to undermine cyber cafes business. It’s such a pity. How are we supposed to move forward and open our mind to the world if we are to reject tehnological advance, especially the Internet?

I don’t know how others feels about this, but I do not wish to stay inside a coconut shell and think that it’s my whole world when I know there’s alot to be learn outside there.

Cleffairy: I’d rather have teenagers venting their hormonal or adrenaline rush in  cyber cafes’ keyboard and screen than having them rempit-ing on the streets or clubbing at night. And I’d rather have them loiter and satisfy their curiosity through Internet than having them involved in crimes and trying out drugs out of curiosity

Sometimes, that’s how it works…

The article below was taken from The Star Malaysia, 17th July 2008,

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has a sense of déjà vu over her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s arrest.

Anwar was arrested in 1998 on charges of abuse of power, corruption – and sodomy. This time, he has again been arrested over an allegation of sodomy,

“It is a feeling of déjà vu. Of course, now my children are big and I am in Parliament now. But I feel it should not have happened this way,” she told reporters yesterday outside the KL police headquarters after meeting Anwar.

“I have a fear. Although they guarantee his safety, it was the same thing they said before, but it didn’t happen.”

She also expressed regret over the way police handled Anwar’s arrest yesterday.

“It now has political connotations,” she said.

The Permatang Pauh MP was with her daughters, Nurul Izzah and Nurul Nuha, son-in-law Raja Ahmad Shahrir Iskandar Raja Salim and Anwar’s lawyer, Sankara Nair.

She had arrived at the police headquarters at about 1.30pm.

The PKR president also said her husband told her and Malaysians to remain calm.

“He is doing well, so far,” she said.

“I regret the way he was detained. After all, he had given his assurance that he would be here. He will act within his legal rights.”

Dr Wan Azizah said she was at Parliament when one of their lawyers informed her of Anwar’s arrest.

Nurul Izzah, PKR’s Lembah Pantai MP, said her father was ready to give his statement.

“My sisters and I had already agreed to accompany our father and to be here by 2pm. How am I supposed to feel safe?”

She arrived with her husband Raja Ahmad at about 1.55pm and handed over her marriage card for a visitor’s pass to enter the building as she had left her MyKad in Parliament.

Nurul Izzah said her father was arrested by Special Action Unit commandos, as in 1998.

I don’t have much things to say about the recent arrest of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. That is to be expected as he had delivered quite a debate a night before his arrest. Who wouldn’t want to arrest a person who can convince people to make him a PM? Well, at least he CAN convince some people as he promised that when he become PM, our financial burden would slightly be off our shoulder.  At least he speaks with more conviction than the unpopular actions being implement by the government these days. Whether he’ll truly take care of the citizens welfare after he become PM or not is another case. I truly believe that most are sick to the stomach with the way the government is running the country, and desperately need changes.

Datuk Seri Wan Azizah mentioned that she had  a sense of déjà vu  when her husband was arrested. Well, I’d say, have more fear, this is Malaysia. It’s not only in politics that people are trying as hard as they could to take one’s posession or take other’s confidence away in order to feel more powerful or stronger. People around us will stop at nothing to step on our head, whether we realize it or not. Such things happens in our daily lives too, be it at home, in office or just merely a mamak stall ‘yum cha’ session. Well, maybe others do not feel that way, but ever since I was a young girl, I felt that my confidence over my own ability being taken away from me constantly by people around me. And to make it worst, they are the people who claimed to be ‘close’ to me. Encouragement and support are hard to come by in whatever I do and this does not change even when I entered adulthood. And so, I don’t see what difference it would make with Datuk Seri Wan Azizah. Everyone is in the same shoes, only in different ways and level.

A story with a lesson for all to learn.

While others are busy commenting on Anwar vs Strawberry debate last night, I don’t think i’ll be doing that, at least not now. My head is still numb from stress. So i’d like to share a story on humanity today. here’s how the story goes:

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:

“When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.
Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?”

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. “I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.”

Then he told the following story:

“Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball.”

Shay asked, “Do you think they’ll let me play?”

“I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps. I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. ”

“The boy looked around for guidance and said, ‘We’re losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we’ll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.” the father continued his story.

“Shay struggled over to the team’s bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart.”

“The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay’s team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.”

“In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay’s team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.” the father said, looking as if he’s flash backing the moment with his son.

“At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn’t even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.”

“However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay’s life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.”

“The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.”

“The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman’s head, out of reach of all team mates.”

“Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, ‘Shay, run to first! Run to first!’
Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide -eyed and startled.” the father continued, obviously proud with his son.

“Everyone yelled, ‘Run to second, run to second!’ Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball … the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.”

“He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher’s intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman’s head.”

“Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home. All were screaming, ‘Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'”

“Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, ‘Run to third! Shay, run to third!’

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, ‘Shay, run home! Run home!’ Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team”

“That day” said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, “the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world.”

“Shay didn’t make it to another month. He died that a week after that, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!” the father said emotionally.

We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the ‘natural order of things.’ So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice:

Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?

Jokes on Marriage

A little bit of something for you guys to laugh or scorn at… 😛 seeing politic stuff is tiring, is it not? Let’s see something else for awhile today. Haha.

WHY AM I MARRIED?
You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.

At a cocktail party, one woman said to another,
“Aren’t you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?”
“Yes, I am. I married the wrong man.”
A lady inserted an ad in the classifieds:
“Husband Wanted”.
Next day she received a hundred letters.
They all said the same thing:
“You can have mine.”

When a woman steals your husband,
there is no better revenge than to let her keep him.
A woman is incomplete until she is married. Then she is finished

.

A little boy asked his father,
“Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?”
Father replied, “I don’t know son, I’m still paying.”

A young son asked,
“Is it true Dad, that in some parts of Africa
a man doesn’t know his wife until he marries her?”
Dad replied, “That happens in every country, son.”

Then there was a woman who said,
“I never knew what real happiness was until I got married,
and by then, it was too late.”
Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence.

If you want your spouse to listen and
pay strict attention to every word you say — talk in your sleep.
Just think, if it weren’t for marriage, men would go through life thinking they had no faults at all.

First guy says, “My wife’s an angel!”
Second guy remarks, “You’re lucky, mine’s still alive.”

“A Woman’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, I pray for: Wisdom, To understand a man , to Love and to forgive him , and for patience, For his moods. Because Lord, if I pray for Strength I’ll just beat him to death”

AND NOW FOR THE FAVORITE!!!

Husband and wife are waiting at the bus stop with their nine children. A blind man joins them after a few minutes. When the bus arrives, they find it overloaded and only the wife and the nine kids are able to fit onto the bus.

So the husband and the blind man decide to walk. After a while, the husband gets irritated by the ticking of the stick of the blind man as he taps it on the sidewalk, and says to him, “Why don’t you put a piece of rubber at the end of your stick? That ticking sound is driving me crazy.”

The blind man replies, “If you had put a rubber at the end of YOUR stick, we’d be riding the bus, so shut the hell up.”

The Life of a Buddhist Monk

I’ve always been curious about the way monks/nun live. And so, I decided to find out for myself and made a trip to a temple in Brickfield ( Buddhist Maha Vihara), which also functioned as a monastery. Shamelessly, I went to asked one of the monks about monks’ daily lives. (I’m born as a noisy busybody!)

There are many different kinds of Buddhist monks, just as there re many different types of Buddhism. Their life and customs are different and unique, and each has a spiritual meaning. There is a certain code the monks must follow and certain rules that must be obeyed. Their daily life follows a strict schedule, and each monk’s life revolves around meditation, the study of scriptures, and the taking apart in ceremonies. His daily life involves interaction with the community around him and with his fellow monks. Their lives are pretty basic. And yes, unlike pastors in a Protestant churches, monks are not allowed to marry and the swear to live in celibacy.

Each kind of monk has a different life style, as there are unique kind of monks just as there are many different ways that they can live. Renunciate monks fall under one of two categories, those who live in a monastic community and those who live in a hermit like state, who are referred to as forest monks. The forest monk lives to the virtual dismissal of all activities non-related to the pursuit of enlightenment. Then there is the temple monk who is occasionally involved in lay community affairs, such as participating in Buddhist holy days. They can also be involved in the sanctification of new homes or businesses, they are can also be involved in the teaching of novice monks, short-term monks, or laymen or laywomen.

A temple monk’s pastoral activity is a transaction between monks and householders; this is where a monk confers merit upon a layman. In gratitude and respect the layman may offer food, money, and other everyday items or he could offer a ritual item such as a candle.A layman may also give land in gratitude, but the monk is not allowed to cultivate it himself, for that involves the killing of small animals.
In the temple elder monks can be seen carrying around young children. The younger monks had been found parentless and brought in and the young monks stay in the monastery to show their gratitude. The young monks might have also been sent there by their parents to learn about being a monk. All men who have dedicated their life to Buddha share one thing in common; they are all in the pursuit of enlightenment, through meditation.

The life of a monk is not as easy as some perceive it, a Buddhist monk is woke by a bell at five, they then spend two hours meditating in silence before eating a breakfast. of rice and vegetables, they then pray until nine, for the remainder of the morning young monks have classes to learn about Buddhist holy writings. Lunch follows, and then there is a long hour of discussion where novice monks quiz each other on their knowledge of scriptures and philosophy. In the afternoon there are more classes followed by more discussion, an hour of study on the texts they learned that morning, then they may retire to bed or they may continue their own meditation.

Buddhist monks spend most of their daily life meditating, chanting or making offerings. Monks use meditation to free their mind from passion, aggression, ignorance, jealousy and pride. The art of meditation allows ones natural wisdom to shine through. Monks usually find a quite secluded place to meditate, when a monk meditates; he may sit with his legs crossed or on the lotus position.

Offerings are made in front of shrines and each has an important meaning. Chanting, meditation and making offerings are all a part of a monk’s life each helps a monk find his way to ultimate enlightenment. As stated in the Buddhist doctrine, study and mediation are the gradual steps to nirvana.

All monks have a special uniform, their robe. The color of a monk’s robe can tell you what his status in the monastery is. If he wears a brownish orange robe he is considered one of the wise, elderly monks. The color of a monk’s robe is very important. When the ancient Indians looked into the forest they could always tell what leaves were about to fall off the trees because they were yellow, orange or brown. So yellow became the color of renunciation. Now Buddhist monks wear orange, yellow or brown robes as a constant reminder of the importance of not clinging, and of letting go.

Each monks robe has three parts, the outer garment called the tricivara the under garment called the uttarasnga and the cloak called the samghati. Each Buddhist monk is allowed these eight requisites, which includes a begging/alms bowl, a belt, a razor, a staff, a tooth pick and the monks three part robe. A Buddhist monk’s life in a monastery is build around meditation and the study of Buddhist scriptures. Each monastery is a houses a community of monks or nuns who live there permanently.
Traditionally monks only venture out into the community to collect alms, and then when they finish they return to take part in religious ceremonies. Monks also interact in communities; many Buddhist monks play a big part in the fight against AIDS/HIV in Asia. In a university in China more than 2,000 monks and nuns are being trained to help HIV positive people and to educate the community about HIV/AIDS. Their work also consist of helping the disadvantaged and the needy.

A monk is not required to have an official residence, he may live as a forest monk, or he my have his own hut made of leaves, or he may live in a cave. When a group of monks in a house take on a n importance it is called a monastery and it can be made of brick or stone. If a monk does chose to live in a monastery he is given a card, at ordination that has the name of his residency on it. If a monk does chose to have a residence there are many factors that may influence his decision, such as the monks who reside in that monastery, or the monasteries educational strength. Monasteries with high education value are also very popular with young monks who wish to learn. Now many monks have been moving out of the official monasteries and have been setting up simple communities in remote rural areas.

A monk’s devotion is one and the same as his daily goal, which is to follow Buddha’s teachings throughout daily life. As each monk strives to attain his daily goal he is also working on becoming the ideal monk, who is said to be gentle inoffensive, poor and humble and perfectly trained.

Buddhist monks choose to live a life of solitude from all of the every day pleasures all to peruse enlightenment. They live with out the every day pleasures just to find Nirvana. They live a peaceful life, not killing a single organism. They follow the rule in their rulebook with out faltering. They give up their personal time to teach others about meditation and scriptures, hoping that they too will find inner peace. The monks will help without thought of reward but almost always receiving gifts of gratitude. They take in young children teaching them a life of peace, and giving them a home.

It is interesting to note that Monks are not allowed to hoard food. Nor are they allowed to cook. So, in order to survive they have to go out in the morning to receive food from Buddhist followers. When they come back, they sort through the food. Some food they will eat straight away for breakfast. Other food they will save for their last meal of the day at 11 a.m. The food that is left over is not wasted. Some may be given to the nuns or children who help out around the temple. Other food is given to poor people who come to the temple at mid-day. Any left-over food is given to the temple dogs or cats

I’ve been looking for the programme that helps the needy and the homeless in KL since my encounter with the homeless lady last week, and I found out that the Buddhist Maha Vihara in Brickfield, Kuala Lumpur is hosting such programme during my interview with the monks about their daily lives.  It’s called ‘Feed The Needy Programme’, and it’s held during weekends, and the meals served to the needy are strictly vegetarian. It’s served to the needy regardless of their age, race and religion. And yes, just to answer your curiosities, the foods are halal food. Interested volunteers and donor may go to the:

Buddhist Maha Vihara: 123 Jalan Berhala, 50470 Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

Or contact: 03-22741141/ info@buddhistmahavihara.com or their website www.buddhistmahavihara.com

Cleffairy: LOL. You guys must be curious why I’m writing this, well, this is what usually comes out when I’m bored out of my head. I did some adventure out of curiousity on the lives of the monks and this is the result. It’s a humbling experience. While I eat at least 2-3 times daily, these monks are allowed to eat only eat once a day to nourish themselves and still manage to do many good deeds that I am not capable of. And for charity sake, I would like to promote the ‘Feed The Needy Programme’ too. I know there are alot of kind and generous people out there, they want to help but do not know where to go. There, this is one place you can contribute to the needy of all race, regardless of religion.

Special thanks to Rev. Suddharma for allowing me the interview and enlightening me with the moderate lives of monks.
