HOMS Rehab Service, A Home Based Rehab Centre for Stroke and Bedridden Patients

Dear readers, I was recently invited to check out a newly opened hyperbaric oxygen therapy rehab centre in Malaysia, a sanctuary of hope and healing for stroke and bedridden patients and here’s sharing my thoughts about them with all of you here, hoping that this posting will benefit not only stroke and bedridden patients from across the globe, but to caregivers who are looking for such services for their loved ones as well.

Let me share with you my personal experience during the visit and the remarkable services that HOMS has to offer, each designed to aid recovery and restore a better quality of life. Basically, it is a bungalow turned into a rehab centre. From the moment I stepped foot into their state-of-the-art facility, I felt a wave of positivity washed over me.

HOMS is practically a home away from home. One of the things that struck me about HOMS was their warm and inviting atmosphere. From the friendly smiles that greeted me to the cozy waiting area, it felt more like visiting a family home than a medical facility.

The staff members at HOMS are not just healthcare professionals; they are compassionate individuals who go above and beyond to ensure every patient feels comfortable and cared for.

HOMS boasts cutting-edge technology and modern hyperbaric chambers that create the optimal environment for recovery. The hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers are spacious and meticulously maintained, offering a peaceful sanctuary during therapy sessions. The comfort and serenity of the chamber provided a sense of tranquility, allowing patients to relax and focus on their healing journey.

At HOMS, professionalism is the cornerstone of their practice. From the initial consultation to the personalized treatment plans, every step is executed with precision and expertise. The medical team at HOMS comprises highly skilled doctors, technicians, and therapists, each with a deep understanding of the unique needs of stroke and bedridden patients. Their seamless collaboration and coordinated effort created a sense of trust and confidence.

What makes HOMS truly stand out is their commitment to individualized treatment plans. They recognized that each patient’s journey is unique and tailor therapy sessions accordingly. Their specialized focus on stroke and bedridden patients allows them to fine-tune the hyperbaric oxygen therapy to address specific needs and promote targeted healing. The personalized attention and care provided a sense of empowerment to patients, where the experts understood each individual’s challenges.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is at the core of HOMS’ treatment approach, and its efficacy in aiding stroke and bedridden patients is nothing short of remarkable as per their patient’s testimonials. While I cannot disclose my actual conversation with their patients in respect of their privacy, but I can share with you that most of them could feel the positive effects of the therapy as it accelerated their healing process, reducing inflammation and stimulating tissue regeneration. I was informed that the increased oxygen supply not only boosted their energy levels, but it also enhanced their neurological function, improving overall cognitive and physiological well-being.

HOMS is a facility that goes beyond therapy. They recognizes that healing is not just physical but also emotional and mental. Alongside hyperbaric oxygen therapy, they offer a comprehensive range of rehabilitation services as well as counseling sessions to both patients and caregivers. These holistic services provide an all-encompassing approach to recovery, nurturing not only the body but also the mind and soul.

Living room, for caregivers to wait and chill while waiting for patients to undergo their session.

Play area for children

Homey room for patients and caregivers to stay overnight if the needs arise.

All rooms over here at HOMS are nothing but spacious and homey.

Bedrooms  are designed to cater to bedridden or patients who are using wheelchairs.

All restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Patients and caregivers are welcome to use the kitchen area.

My visit to HOMS left nothing but a good, lasting impression. From the moment I walked through their doors, I knew that many lives was about to change for the better. The combination of their state-of-the-art facility, compassionate personnel, and individualized treatment plans has given stroke and bedridden patients a newfound hope and optimism. HOMS is not just a rehab centre; it is a beacon of light and a testament to the power of human resilience. If you or your loved one are seeking a place to help you improve the current health conditions , I wholeheartedly recommend HOMS – where recovery becomes a possible reality and a better quality of life awaits.

How To Choose Suitable Upholstery Material For Your Sofa

Are you wondering how to choose the best suitable upholstery material for your sofa or furniture? Do you want to replace your old sofa cover? Or reupholster your current sofa to match your newly renovated home interior?

There are so many choices which makes it difficult to narrow down the best upholstery material for your furniture.

For an upfront advice, here are tips on:

How To Choose Suitable Upholstery Material For Your Sofa

  • Ease of Cleaning

Prioritise upholstery materials that are easy to clean when spills happen instead of ones like velvet upholstery which requires special cleaning techniques.

  • Maintenance and Treatment

Correctly knowing how to care for your sofa material will help maintain its durability. Different types of upholstery material may need different approaches to maintain them properly, so be sure to ask about right cleaning techniques and perform spot testing cleaning.

  • Placement

Will your sofa be used indoors at home, shop or office or on the patio? Will your sofa be placed in an air-conditioned room? Those factors can affect the choice of upholstery material because they can influence the fabric, which can be worn out from overexposure to direct sunlight, moisture, and other corrosive atmospheric conditions.

  • Durability

Evaluate how often the sofa is going to be used and by whom. If you are looking for a solution for high-traffic areas or families with small children, then go for durable fabric upholstery that can be cleaned easily and those that are durable enough for daily usage.

  • Style

Do pay close attention to the design and style of the furniture’s frame and select an upholstery material that reflects the style of the overall design of your space.

  • Users

Bear in mind who will be using the sofa. If you have furkids or small children at home, it’s best to choose durable fabrics that can withstand scratches and stains.

Bring the elements of personalization to your room with textured, and patterned fabric furniture upholstery that is representative of your design sense.

  • Interior Design

Opt for upholstery fabrics that complement the other colours and the theme of your decoration.

  • Cost

Consider your budget for the upholstery service. However, although luxury fabrics are more expensive at the outset, they provide cost saving because quality material can be used for longer, hence avoiding frequent replacements.

  • Microfiber Upholstery

Choose microfiber upholstery that is hypoallergenic especially if you have family members with asthma at home.

Ultimately, the upholstery for your sofa should be selected in a way that ensures ease of cleaning, proper maintenance, durable, the right signalling of style with the rest of your cushions and décor, the ability to accommodate the users of the sofa, suitability for the look of the room, and your budget. By analysing these factors, it is possible to pick a suitable upholstery material that satisfies a place’s aesthetic aims and suitable for practical living which fortifies both comfort and style in your room.

Exploring Depths and Soaking Up Joy In A Blissful Island Retreat with Freediving Adventure Malaysia

Life can be pretty much hectic for me. There’s family commitments and then there’s work commitments. What I portray on social media might not be a true reflection of my reality. People often see me chillaxing and doing things that I like; scuba diving, mermaiding, freediving, martial arts etc, but trust me. I don’t have that much time to spare. I only make time for things that matters and more often than not, I work irregular hours and ended up working while everyone else is sleeping.

Anyway, it’s really rare for me to take a vacation, but when I saw Freediving Adventure Malaysia (FAM) was organising a freediving trip to Perhentian Island, I thought to myself; oh hey. Why not reward myself for a little escapade after non-stop taking up diving related courses since early of the year. I’ve passed my SSI Mermaid, SSI Dive Master and PADI Freediver course, all in a span of 6 months and it’s high time I take a little break and enjoy myself.

My recent trip to Perhentian Island was such unforgettable experience. Brace yourselves, guys. Long post ahead. Follow closely as I retell my story on how I embarked on a journey that was filled with thrilling underwater adventures, mermaiding, and scuba diving.

The trip was led by my expert freediving instructor, Swen Becht from Freediving Adventure Malaysia alongside with his team; Boey and Qihao. We stayed at Dlagoon Chalet, a pretty secluded chalet in Perhentian Island with a private beach of its own. They’re really patient and always made me feel safe and guided whenever I freedive with them. I’m so blessed to have met them. I would have not been able to fall in love with freediving otherwise.

I’ve met plenty of freediving instructors before throughout my entire career as a scuba diver. Some are even record holders and stuff, but there is nobody else I would openly recommend to those who would like to learn freediving than the instructors in FAM. They’re great at igniting passion and instilling confidence in their students. Freediving is a highly risky and competitive sport, and instructors can sometimes put lots of pressure on you during training. But with them, there’s no such thing, just lotsa assurance and lots of fun learning how to be a better freediver as you go along the way.

As I mentioned, this trip is a freediving trip. My journey took off with the necessary training to enhance my freediving skills. Under the expert guidance of my instructor Swen Becht and Freediving Adventure Malaysia’s team, I learned valuable techniques to explore the depths of the underwater world with ease and grace.

Their passion for this beautiful sport was contagious, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and encouragement among my fellow trainees. With each practice session, I felt a sense of accomplishment and empowerment, breaking my own limits and expanding my horizons. Every dive was an opportunity to feel one with nature and discover the hidden treasures beneath the surface.

Here’s sharing some bits and pieces of my freediving adventure.

Dive site: The Police Wreck, Perhentian
Max depth: 16m
Free immersion line training with my FD instructor. I used to dislike this discipline but these days I feel okay doing it. Need more practice, though. There’s still so much to improve.

Something I don’t mind doing again; freediving down to see some boat wrecks. It feels so amazing to go down there in just one breath. I think I managed to go about 14-15m over here.😄

Nothing can ever compare to this. This is the most serene and zen moment that I’ve ever had.

Fun with the girls in my freediving family. Sunburned, don’t care. We had so much fun freediving around and doing our line training.

All the cute freediver guys, chillaxing at the beach after the line training and attempting PB.🤭😍

Me and my scuba buddy, mermaiding buddy, freediving buddy and bed buddy. Yea. We sleep together. Nothing scandalous there though. That dude is my husband. 😂

You know, our body is capable of many things. It’s our mind that we need to convince. I’m glad I made the plunge to go mermaiding and started freediving after that. I went from being terrified of depth without my scuba gears to this. I beat my previous 13m and went down to 16m.

Yea…I keep going deeper and deeper and keep wondering how much deeper I can go in one breath. It’s truly addictive. I feel like going deeper and deeper. 😂

Posting this as a motivation and inspiration for my next PB attempts. Hopefully I can beat my own PB next.

Current PB
CWTB- 16.5m
FIM- 15.7m
STA- 2:06m
DYN- 30m

Special thanks to Swen and of course, Qihao too for being my safety diver and making me feel safe during these attempts. I wouldn’t have been able to do so otherwise.

Yours truly with her husband and son.

A picture with my FAMily. Congratulations to all who were certified on this trip. And of course, congratulations to all the fun divers who created new personal best records as well. You guys are awesome. Special thanks to all instructors who helped us achieve all these. It won’t be possible without you. You guys rawks!

Apart from freediving, Perhentian Island also offered the perfect opportunity for me to embrace my inner mermaid.

And so I did. I was lucky enough to have Boey, Freediving Adventure Malaysia’s in-house mermaid instructor along during that trip. She was kind enough to facilitate my mermaid dives throughout the entire time I was there when we were not doing our freediving training.

Donning a pretty tail and graciously gliding through the crystal-clear waters was a dream come true to me. Mermaiding brought out the playful side of everyone, as we twisted and twirled, chasing imaginary underwater treasures. It was a magical experience that made me appreciate the beauty of the ocean and the freedom to indulge in our imaginations without restraint.

While my journey primarily involved freediving, I couldn’t miss out on exploring the wonders of the ocean’s depths through scuba diving. Here’s a picture of me and Abang Azharil ARt, whom I fondly addressed as Masterji. He was my scuba guide during the trip . Masterji and I have been friends on FB for quite some time, but have never met outside of social media. I’m glad I finally met him and managed to squeeze some time to go scuba diving with him during that trip. With his expert guidance, we embarked on underwater expeditions that showcased the vibrant marine life that surrounded us.

All geared up for scuba diving.

A picture of me with my freediving as well as scuba buddy, Kingston Tan. He decided to join me, my hubs and Masterji as well for some scuba diving.

From kaleidoscopic coral reefs teeming with life to enchanting schools of fish dancing in harmony, each dive felt like entering a living, breathing painting. The thrill of spotting exotic creatures, such as Nemo hiding within anemones, or encountering graceful sea turtles, created an immeasurable joy that words can hardly capture.

The most memorable spot is this, the San Choi Wreck. This is a well known dive spot in Perhentian and it’s my second time here.

It’s home to thousands and thousands of fish and marine lives.

The first time was with my instructor and we were freediving. I didn’t manage to dive deep and see much during the first time cuz I was already tired from my line training by the time we visited the site. I think I just went like…5m and called it a day. 😂

Glad we went scuba mode to this site again the next day. There’s so many marine creatures to see. Max depth for this site is just about 16-17m, so it’s quite a good site for open water divers as well.

Beyond the breathtaking marine adventures, my trip to Perhentian Island was made unforgettable by the wonderful people I met along the way. Swen Becht, my freediving instructor and mentor, not only taught me the art of diving but also instilled a sense of respect and love for the ocean within me. The bonds I formed with my fellow freedivers, buddies on scuba dives, and even the locals added another layer of richness to my journey. The shared laughter, encouragement, and support created a sense of unity that made every day feel like a celebration of life and friendship.

My journey to Perhentian Island with Freediving Adventure Malaysia was a vibrant tapestry of thrilling underwater escapades, carefree mermaiding, and awe-inspiring scuba diving experiences. Every glimpse into the underwater universe left me feeling not only exhilarated but also deeply connected to the pristine beauty of nature. It served as a powerful reminder of our responsibility to protect and cherish our oceans. As I reminisce about this incredible adventure, I am filled with immense gratitude for the joy, positivity, and personal growth it brought into my life. Perhentian Island will forever hold a special place in my heart as a sanctuary of bliss and unforgettable memories.

Dive in with ‘The Deepest Breath’: A Splashingly Fun Movie Night at Freediving Adventure Malaysia

Just last night, my fellow freediving enthusiasts and I embarked on an adventurous movie night at FAM-Freediving Adventure Malaysia.

With slices of pizzas in hand and anticipation in the air, we settled down to watch Netflix’s captivating documentary film, ‘The Deepest Breath.’

Guys, grab your snorkel and get ready to dive right in as I share our exhilarating experience during this fun-filled movie night!

When it comes to movies, there’s something uniquely exciting about watching one that centers around a shared passion. As freedivers, we were thrilled to discover ‘The Deepest Breath’ on Netflix. This film promised to immerse us in a world competitive freediving, heartwarming relationships, and adrenaline-fueled diving moments. Naturally, our expectations were high, and boy, did it deliver!

Nope. I won’t be giving you spoilers, but all I can say is from the very first dive in the movie, we found ourselves entranced with details. The scenes were so vivid and immersive, it felt as if we were freediving right alongside the divers.

‘The Deepest Breath,’ much like freediving itself, emphasized the importance of camaraderie. It shows us a journey of a group of divers who became tight-knit underwater family. Their friendship and support shone through as they navigated challenges, faced their fears, and celebrated successes together.

As freedivers ourselves, we resonated deeply with the movie’s depiction of the thrill and tranquility found beneath the surface. The film’s exploration of the physical and mental aspects of freediving reminded us why we fell in love with this sport in the first place. We left the movie night with ignited passion, eager to plan our next adventure and dive even deeper.

‘The Deepest Breath’ brought waves of excitement and joy to our freediving movie night. From the captivating scenes to the stunning underwater visuals, the film made for an unforgettable experience. Watching it alongside our fellow freedivers added a sense of community and enthusiasm that made the night even more special.

Whether you’re a seasoned freediver or simply curious about the sport, ‘The Deepest Breath’ is an absolute must-watch. So grab your dive buddies, cuddle up with some delicious pizza, and prepare to be submerged in this underwater adventure.

Here’s one for the album. I’m so grateful that FAM organized the fun movie night for us, and hopefully, there will be much more fun nights like this to come.

SSI React Right – CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administrator Training

I planned to go for a movie with my son today, since it’s public holiday and all that and I have nothing better to do. You know, Wakanda Forever has been showing in the cinema for awhile and I’ve been wanting to watch it. But in the end, instead of going to the cinema to watch Wakanda Forever, I opted to do something else; which is attend the SSI React Right organized by KAIA Underwater Academy.

React Right is SSI’s emergency first response course for both divers and non divers alike. It provides us with the training and knowledge we need in order to act as a first responder in a real life medical emergency.

Although I’m already a Basic Life Support Provider, it’s been awhile since I get to practice my skills, so this is a good opportunity to refresh and review my knowledge, with a real doctor as and real medical assistants, no less.

Here’s sharing with you pictures taken in class today with Dr. Syakir Halek. Learning with him is awesome, as he’s not only a doctor, but a scuba diver as well- so it’s easy to ask questions about medical emergencies that’s caused by diving accidents.

Throughout the program, participants were taught primary assessment, first aid, CPR and primary stabilization techniques. Apart from that, we were also taught how to use Automated External Defibrillator (AED)as well as oxygen administration in diving emergencies.

Dr. Syakir Halek demonstrating how to assess emergency situation before proceeding with CPR demonstration.

Participants were shown how to use Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during emergency.

We’re being taught how to deal with choking victims.

First aid portion of SSI React Right course. Here we were shown how to give first aid and treat minor injuries.

The academic session encouraged active participations, so it’s really a lot of fun.

And watching my classmates in action during practical training session definitely beats watching Wakanda Forever.

Yours truly during the CPR hands on session.

My instructor Dr. Syakir Halek evaluating my performance during the CPR practical session. This is not easy to pass, because instead of the old mannequin, they’re using state of art mannequin with build-in detector on your CPR quality. The mannequin is synced with a smart device apps that will give you the rating for your performance- on whether you did your chest compression and rescue breaths correctly or not. If you didn’t perform correctly, then you will be need to repeat the entire CPR sequence all over until you get it right.

My instructor Suhaimi Salleh demonstrating how to administer oxygen.

Unlike other first aid/ Emergency First Responder (EFR)/ Basic Life Support(BLS)courses out there where they only offers only first aid, CPR and AED training, SSI React Right course offers an added value where Oxygen Administrator training is also included.

All SSI React Right participants are required to demonstrate how to administer oxygen during medical/diving emergencies as well, so at the end of the day, you will not just be a qualified emergency first responder, but a qualified oxygen administrator as well.

Here’s a picture of my classmate being funny after demonstrating how to administer oxygen during emergency.

So did I managed to pass? Yes, thankfully, I did, despite of the high standards. Although I think there’s room for improvements on my CPR and first aid skills, but I managed to pass. Thank God for that.

One thing I like about continuing my education with SSI is that it gives me instant gratification -where I don’t have to wait for a couple of days, weeks or even months long to see my certification being issued. Waiting is not my forte. I’ve never been such a patient person, so having to wait for the fruit of my hard work is such a turnoff.

With SSI, as long as you’ve completed your courses to your instructor’s satisfaction, they will immediately certify you and you can see your certs in your MySSI apps. It feels really rewarding, and in many ways, this encouraged me to keep learning.

One for the album. Here’s all the people who made my learning experience a lot of fun.

Thank you fellow instructors and KAIA Underwater Academy for the knowledge. You guys are awesome!

SSI React Right course is open to both divers and non-divers alike as well as Divepros who are interested to be React Right instructors.

If you’d like to learn basic first aid skills, I’d say go for this one, considering it is also inclusive of Oxygen Administration training. Group and corporate training can also be arranged at special rate.

For further inquiries or to sign up for the course you may contact KAIA Underwater Academy at:

Unveiling of McDonald’s Fries Crosswalk at McDonald’s Bukit Bintang

McDonald’s, or rather, more fondly known among the locals in Malaysia as Mekdi has been a big part of our lives, and I’m here today at McDonald’s Bukit Bintang, the very first McDonald’s restaurant that opened its doors in Malaysia 40 years ago. Yes, Mekdi has been around for 40 years in Malaysia, people. And I remember my happy memories with ‘Mekdi’ from my growing years to my adulthood. I had birthday parties in McDonald’s.Whenever people talked about McDonald’s, I would remember celebrating my birthdays with friends, my first date ever with my husband when we just started dating, late night study sessions right before college’s final and even our son’s birthday were celebrated at ‘Mekdi’. McDonald’s is definitely not just my regular restaurant where I get a quick meal, but it’s a place where fond memories are made.

Here’s yours truly at McDonald’s Bukit Bintang and I’m excited to share with you the unveiling of the iconic McDonald’s Fries crosswalk.

The crosswalk was officially unveiled on 15 March by YB Dato’ Seri Dr. Shahidan Bin Kassim, Minister of Federal Territories, as well as YBhg. Dato’ Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia, at McDonald’s Bukit Bintang.

The crosswalk is located at the heart of the city. What makes this even more special is that this crosswalk is located right in front of the McDonald’s Bukit Bintang restaurant – the very place that’s dubbed as the Malaysia version of Shibuya crossing.

Yours truly at the McDonald’s French Fries crosswalk. In all honesty, the crosswalk is really insta-worthy.

Curious why the McDonald’s French Fries was chosen as the icon? When eating the McDonald’s French Fries here in Malaysia we all know how creative we Malaysians can get when it comes to food. How many of you like to pour your fries on a tray and create a mountain of fries to share with friends? Or dip your fries in your sundae for that sweet and savoury treat? These are the joys of having our iconic French Fries – it tastes great but also evokes a sense of joy and fun with family and friends.

“We are confident that this crosswalk will add to the beauty of Kuala Lumpur and make it a must-see destination for tourists from all over the world. And with the announcement of the Malaysian borders reopening on 1 April, we hope that tourists visiting KL will not only shop at the Golden Triangle, but also experience feel-good moments at McDonald’s Bukit Bintang and take photos of our Fries crosswalk. With this new iconic crosswalk, we are extending our support to the Ministry of Federal Territories and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) in enhancing its socio- economic development initiatives to make Kuala Lumpur a more prosperous city by 2030.” Melati Abdul Hai, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Malaysia said when asked about the McDonald’s aspiration for the iconic McDonald’s Fries Crosswalk.

McDonald’s remains committed to contributing to the nation’s economic recovery, as it announced its five-year business expansion plans earlier this month. As part of its Vision 2026, McDonald’s Malaysia will be investing RM1.35 billion over the next five years to open 205 new restaurants, as well as offering more than 50,000 career opportunities for Malaysians by the year 2026.

McDonald’s French Fries not only tastes good but it also brings people together and creates feel-good moments, so it’s no surprise that McDonald’s fries continues to be one of the most popular items on their menu. It’s called the world-famous fries for a reason and is enjoyed by millions of people every day around the globe.

If you’re ever in Bukit Bintang and happened to see the iconic McDonald’s Fries crosswalk, do experience how it’s like crossing over. Take some pictures, videos and maybe some TikToks, and have some ‘I’m lovin it’ good time at our beloved Mekdi.
